This is my easy to follow Acrylic portrait painting technique for beginners and intermediate as well. Acrylic paint usually dries fast. To overcome this challenge I am using a fine mist of water to keep the paint moist longer. I have elaborated my techniques of blending and shading using acrylic with water as the only medium. No retarder is used for this painting process.
I have applied the first layer of color using Cadmium Yellow Lemon, Scarlet Lake and Burnt Umber to cover the sketched of the face and hands. I have applied many thin layers to achieve the desired effect of the skin tone. Most of the blending is done with dry brush technique with minimal water on the palette.

Thanks for sharing. I´ve been using oils for years and paint pretty well. The thing is that oil paintings take long time to dry. Acrylics are faster but some skills are required to get a decent paint just like yours. However, you have blown away the thought I had about acrylics when they ate applied in portraits. The key here is that good acrylics are required.

How do you manage with effect that the acrylics dry very fast? I've been using Acrylic retarder but not sure if this is the right option. Please advise. Regards.
Thank you so much for your appreciation 🙏 I think the beauty of Acrylic is it's fast drying nature itself. I only use water mist spray on my palette to keep my paint moist. Nothing else. It works just fine. It's alright if you are comfortable with retarder as well. It just fine 👍

Can we do acrylic on drawing book?.or how much gsm paper is needed for acrylics
It depends. Lower than 200 gsm is not suitable. Minimum 300 gsm for good results. Try on 300 gsm watercolor paper or 400 gsm acrylic paper.
Can u please suggests me which type of brushes I refer for acrylic painting on canvas. I'm quite confused for selecting a good quality brush for canvas painting.
I mostly use white bristle flat brushes or some round synthesis. Sometimes I use Watercolor brushes too. So it depends on your need. But overall a stiffer brush works well with Acrylic. How are u able to manage to blend ur acrylics soo well? How do u keep ur acrylics wet? Mine just dries up the moment i put them outside

Cobalt Blue aur Burnt Sienna mix karke Ultramarine Blue ke aas paas ke color nikala ja sakta hai. Koshish karke dekh sakte hai. Par original color jaisa nahi hoga. Thank you for watching 😊
Can I use brunt sienna place of brunt umber, I have no brunt umber color?
Dono color alag hai. Burnt sienna light hai aur umber kafi dark. Ho sake to kharid lena. Kyoki dark shade ke liye umber jyada istemal kiya jata hai. Aur agar kharidna nahi hai to aap sienna ke saath ultramarine blue use karke umber ke aas paas ka color nikal sakte hai.

Is it possible to do the same effects on 90 or 100 gsm papers??
Smaller grade papers are usually smoother with less tooth. And it may not able to handle the torture needed for acrylic painting. Go for higher grade. Atleast 250 GSM cold pressed. Thank you 😊
