Thank you Matt for your videos! I Googled techniques in adding highlights to a face and one of your videos popped up. What first captured my attention was your prayer regarding the portrait you were painting but you also prayed for us, your viewers who love to paint and are trying to do it better. Thank you for that! What kept my attention is your skill and instruction.
Your painting, “Smoldering Wick,” is INCREDIBLE! Intense emotions radiate from your face just as the light radiates from the lantern. It is beautiful! I haven't had time to completely explore your webpage but will in time. Your talent is a great gift and your life is a blessing. I'm so thankful I found your page. God Bless

Thank you so much for the kind words! Smoldering Wick is still my favorite painting-because it captures a time in my life when I was really struggling. I wanted to show how God met me and encouraged me through the Bible! I sold the original (which God used to help pay my rent) but I still have prints available too. Blessings to you!

You bet, Terry! It was a great eclipse day. It was cloudy and rainy up until the eclispe, and that's what was forecasted all day for Wisconsin. But then the sky got perfectly clear, and the sun came out an hour before and during the eclipse. Then, once the eclipse was over, it got cloudy again! I had a chance to see my first eclipse ever at age 40, and even though it wasn't total, it was still pretty neat to watch along with my family (with the safety glasses). Almost like God just opened up the skies just for us and others who wanted to see it!

I'm excited to try this in my next painting, very cool. Btw Did you use models for this painting? I can't imagine figuring out the light and shadows without them. I have many pics of my trip to Israel that I intend to paint but none with Peter;)

Yes I did, Annette. Here is the video showing how my friend and I posed for this painting. ruclips.net/video/R4aXP77_Wyg/видео.html I can't paint realism properly without a model.

i think he is still alive. when you say that i lived in the last century, it makes it sound as though he is dead and has been for some time.
