Hey Duke I have me a new pair of gauntlets. Each weighs 200 pounds, and is made from a big list of material, also it will take 6 more days to finish enchanting them. Now I have something to use to block strikes with when I fail a dodge. They cover my entire wrist and the lower half of my talons but I can still wear some rings.
I really hope you know they are the absolute worst vpn out there. They got caught holding customer browsing records AFTER they were leaked due to a security breach where most of their hardware was affected....

My players got so used to hear certain song, they wait for attack/ambush when they hear the song.

Yeah, that would have been pretty much my reaction. Options- temple of Eilistraee so the dancing is actually part of their worship and the naked drow women are carrying very sharp swords; the strippers are orc women whose menfolk all got wiped out when they attacked the entirely wrong settlement and this is basically how they've adapted to the situation; OR it's a male strip club with mostly female audience and amateur night - you guys are here to compete right?

the paladin writing his own story and leaving had me rolling.
It took me a second watch to realize he went with it like that on purpose because he wanted the story to end his way.

Imagine the DM picking a weird song on purpose! We had a fucking rave at the tavern and he put on carameldansen! Best night ever. My tabaxi was high on shrooms, the deep gnome was just trying to get through the evening, the drunk Goliath was convincing humans to try eating a table, and the warlock was desperately trying to hide.
That sounds like a blast!

I have the sort of inverse effect. Whenever one of my main villains. The war forged wearing human skin Miss Courtier showed up I’d play Bioshock’s cover of Girls just wanna have fun. My players pretty quickly went from “Oh this is a neat tune.” To “Oh dear god why! Please stop.”

*laughs in 22 perception with observant feat* You see nothing
the first time I used a character sheet I made a rouge with 19 passive perception without using feats, I never used him but it was funny when I realized what I did
I have a fellow player who has 28 in Passive Perception, it’s become a running joke.
If you can get somebody to help you or get advantage some other way on perception checks, along with the Observant feat, your passive perception becomes what you'd roll on a nat 20 because having advantage on a certain check adds 5 to its related passive score.
tbh, this gonna be the most chaotic run that the bard didn't even try to hump anyone, the barbarian just broke an old Lady's back, the Paladins gave up and the DM got an irl crisis.

At this point the DM puts songs on auto play and lets RNGesus take the wheel.
I gave up on thematics after I accidentally had power metal in my ambient playlist and fat fingered it........ which means my players tried to kill the town guard.......
RNGesus took the wheel from then on.

@@cooldemon5545 well, the simple answer is: Because quarenteen I haven't been able to run music, but before then when I did this? It worked out most of the time supprizingly. Put an even mix of slow music and good ambient battle music, and it works out quite well until wait.... no that NPC is part of the main questline, guys please stop charging them.
i was once in a campain where one of the players was apparently supposed to open a door to see his mother and father laying dead on the floor, the DM hit play, and the first thing we heard was "lick my p***** and my crack", without missing a beat, kyle (the player) said: "well mother, father it seems you're doing fine, i think i'll simply see my self out" The DM turned bright red and said forget it, i give up.

reminds me of how during an emotional moment, my DM tried to put on fitting soundtrack. imagine a PC turning back to the party, knowing this move will kill them, but it's the only way to guarantee the party to success. they give one last smile, and to the PC they have been with since the start, they mouth "I love you"...

Highly recommend it, I used to mainly play rogues or something with ranged attacks and now I play one barbarian and it's the best thing to just run into combat and kill everything around you xD

In a campaign I played years back in high school, one of our players had gotten a weapon that played music when used in combat. The DM's ipod had a playlist of random songs and was set to shuffle. When a battle began, he'd hit play and depending on which song played, it gave bonuses or negatives to the players. "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor" gave insane attack and damage bonuses while soft ballet music would increase dexterity at the loss of damage, stuff like that. It was fun and I really want to reintroduce that idea into a future DnD campaign.

Perhaps the Barbarian becoming a Druid and using His Rage to protect the animals in the forest and stop others from eating meat?
Perhaps the Bard, now a Rogue, finding they can't seduce anyone without them dying?

Let this be a lesson to you all: If you want to use music in D&D, make sure to have a playlist solely for those musics you intend to use during the session.

The group I'm in uses Discord for our sessions. We have a bot that plays music for us. Occasionally one of us will put on a song that always plays at the best times.

This is completely true. One of the players in my group's last campaign decided to play the Benny Hill theme during the final fight with the BBEG. It derailed everything in the most glorious way.

Sometimes the best things you can do is use the music to throw everybody off. I remember using a cool, upbeat electronic song during a fight in an alley and kept asking my players if they wanted to make perception checks during the fight. None did. They finished their fight and leave the alley to find out an army has torn through most of the city and the few survivors are fleeing the burning remains. This was their hometown, their main base, and the BBEG knew it and came knocking. And they didn't know because the music didn't clue them in.
i remember once i saw a piano in this abandoned church after we killed off the cult followers. I decided to play the JOJO piano song everyone knows and somehow summoned the cult leader from the fountain

If someone did that in my campaign, it would probably go like this. "As you play that theme on the piano, out of the fountain you see a handsome blonde man with toned muscles. In a deep villainous voice he says 'You expected a cult leader, but it was me Dio!' and to the character he deems the strongest, he'll try to beat them into submission and force the stone mask on them while getting some vampire minions ,that are crawling out of the fountain, to kill the others. A hidden boss battle out of nowhere.
At many times in my campaigns over the years, the somber background music should have been switched to Yakety Sax because there would be that One Player.

It's rare in a session to see a DM go through a character arc.
At the end of the sponsored sketches you should do a bit kind of like what Ryan George does with the ADstronaut but add a D&D twist like the PalADin or the ADventurer

I remember when I was GMing a memorable Cyberpunk 2020 campaign and we were at the point where my friends managed to "save the world" even if their favourite NPC died and I was about to give them the final speech for the ending, but I forgot that one of my friends put Le Castle Vania so I did a false start and everyone giggled (me too). Luckily I gave the final speech with the right music and we closed the long campaign with the funeral for their friend, and the birth of a new world (that was canonically nuked 3 years later)
This is why the DM needs to learn improv, make the mistakes into the most memorable moments

The actor playing the paladin must have been very busy if he could be there only for half of the sketch
The first time the players walked into the recently conjured Galder's Tower which the DM made it a bit larger (because the party was about 8 people) was the best Music Fail moment I ever saw.
The music bot was running a playlist that was basically the softest songs from Hollow Knight looping. The exact moment the players walked inside an AD cut the music by playing Song for Denise before announcing something we didn't understood because it wasn't in our language (Portuguese) and the DM muted the bot quickly.
Yeah, the Wide Putin Song. While waking inside of a wider Galder's Tower.
I sometimes like to bring my lute to the sessions whenever I'm playing as a bard.

I feel like this can be like a fun self-imposed challenge on the DM: have a playlist of random atmospheric music, randomize the list whenever the party goes somewhere new, & improv a scenario to fit that music.
It might not be a well-prepared session, but it'll undoubtedly be memorable.

Sometimes there are random specific noises in atmosferic soundtracks that can give party wrong impressions. Like screaming in the spooky woods. Shut up, nobody is dying in MY woods (at least right now).

In my latest campaign, we had a quest where we had to teach a half-orc to dance. The DM told our bard that he could pick the music, so we kept getting a wild assortment of music, including "Welcome to the Internet" and the Rickroll. However, the DM only rolled good rolls for dancing for the Half-Orc when the Bard stopped playing.

I was in a D&D session where the DM playd music from his Laptop. Sometimes his Girlfriend changed the musig from home to things like "Barbie Girl" or "The Entertainer".
It was funny and scary at the same time.

Grandma deciding to hire you on whether you can beat her in hand to hand combat match is quite a badass idea. Imagine a frail old lady turning out to be a master monk that wipes the floor with you, then tells you that you're "Good Enough" for a task at hand.
one time i was playing undertale music for my players during a battle and forgot to turn it off afterwards. one of my players fell unconscious and as they were healed i yelled "he's alive" at the exact same moment megalovania started playing.
DM: "After being kicked out of the town because someone broke an old ladies back.."
Barbarian: "She had it coming..."

My best example of this kinda fail;
I was a player in a campaign and our party's DJ. So I put my tavern music on shuffle as we started to introduce our characters in first session
When it was time for our Tieflin g Warlock, he was playing the piano in the bar. Warlock was narrating his intro as a cool and mysterious figure. Right as he reached "And I'm playing the song--", my shuffle started blasting Saria's Theme
We spent a good few minutes dying of laughter
i also like how when the special music plays both the bard and barbarian are like awesome, and then you have the paladin holding his glass of water ready to bless everyone
I had the reverse the other day. Right as the DM said "and the creature falls down, dead" the combat music ended. It ended in the perfect moment.
