So happy with this video. We always went to a camp site in Niozelles, from where I cycled to La Brillanne to watch the trains. Planning to build a scale model some day and this really helps!
I did a part of the track by road. Briancon (1300 m), le lac de Serre Poncon. I did it also by night train till Montdauphin-Guillestre.
Another great video. Thanks. Weather spoils it a bit (too much sun/too little sun) but it is still a pleasure to enjoy the journey. The line is an engineering master piece. As most of the ancient lines are. It is breathtaking that most of the structures (tunnels, viaducts and bridges - beside the line itself) are still more and less in an original shape with only a basic maintenance.
@@lorirocks777 For me the wind noise (perhaps from the ventilation) is more annoying. I hope the rerecording will also be better there. Apart from that, an amazing video with awesome landscapes.
@@lorirocks777 Oh the memories! I miss France so much. I used to ride the trains all the time, especially the local trains from Ville d'Avres (I hope I spelled that correctly, if not, please correct me.), to the RER near Paris and the Metro. My favorite was the train from Paris to Diep and Paris to Callet and back. We'd take the train to those cities and either ride the ferry to the Uk or the Hovercraft to Dover. We'd then board two different trains: one to London and the next to Colchester where our Grannie lived. That was back during 1975 and 1976.

Why is there that really slow section between Embrun and where the new track in the 1960s was built?
I guess there are some things that need to be done on the tracks.

There are obviously very few people living in the higher areas than there used to be.

Constant microphone rumble - microphone placed over an air vent per chance?
Yes. Unfortunately there's no way to undo that.
I think people are also beautiful and lovely like their country here.
This is a very nice recording, but I was curious why there is so much wind noise? Where was the microphone?
It's the aircon, which is necessary to prevent the camera from overheating. We do our best to avoid this, but sometimes it happens.
