Birds Flew Over The Spire - Gary Ryan - played by Derek Hasted

As a teacher, I seek out music for my students which inspires and which is full of interesting teaching points. Birds Flew Over the Spire is a lovely campanella piece - there are so many ways to shape the phrases, and it's a wonderful and rewarding challenge for my more experienced players.
The photos are of the deconsecrated "Cathedral On The Hill" - a massive Church in the tiny village of Privett, consecrated in 1878, and costing £23,000. The interior is a beautiful pink Bath Stone.
Listen carefully in the middle of the soundtrack and you'll hear birds - I recorded this in my teaching room - a bright and airy conservatory with a vibrant acoustic, overlooking a garden visited by sparrows, robins, starlings, blackbirds and pigeons. Just outside the conservatory is a bird feeder - it's a popular spot!
This is a Grade 5 piece, featured in the 2010-2015 Trinity Graded exams.
