I had the privilage to watch this twice at Earls Court when this was filmed and still have the tickets . If you wish to see another perspective on this song watch Roger Waters new version he did for his recent tour( Studio version and Live ) . Not as uplifting as there is no guitar solo but fantastic organ sound and vocals taking place of guitar solo.....perfect for my funeral which I hope is avery long way off . It is not on par as floyds version but still very good

The way you set this up makes you vulnerable to intel lectual prop erty (IPr) claims. Most Western IPr laws allow citation/quotation (of a piece of the art work) in a context of scientific analysis or journalistic review.
For musicians this is a loophole that they may police. And this is why other review channels repeatedly pause the video as well as talk through it. That way, it becomes impossible to use their review as a way to extract the music piece in its original form. And that way they can claim the journalistic exception.
Some bands add spark to their music in live concerts over their preceding studio recorded versions. The excitement of performance for a big crowd can have that effect to the musicians. Also, live versions often have larger amounts of musicians with added background vocalists or wind instruments. In this PF case, the reverse happened, IMO. This band is exceptional in studio and in most cases the studio version is better. The opposite, take any song from the Rolling Stones and you will be able to find a live version that is better than the studio one.
To me, fan since before the vinyl "Ummagumma" album release, this track of PF is not necessarily the best representation of who they are, what they can do. I would also listen to ex-PF Roger Waters' "Amused to Death" (CD era), if I were you.
As to mom, the question is if she is just polite and giving the socially desired response. The female brain is fundamentally different than the male one (its anatomy is on the X chromosome , so XX people have two of those and XY people only one). In that light, there might be PF tracks that a girl finds more attractive, that doesn't make them uncomfortably numb.
I saw Pink Floyd’s Delicate Sound of Thunder concert in 1987. I have Pulse on DVD. I’m 67 years old and have been hooked on Pink Floyd for 50 years now. Imagine, 50 years of Pink Floyd. If any music affected my life it was Pink Floyd! The music of Pink Floyd will never die. RIP Richard😇

I was 25 when Pink Floyd were just getting to be something special on the Rock scene, but I didn't really get into them until my youngest brother loaned me his copy of their most famous album - Dark Side of The Moon. Wow - then I was well and truly hooked. I am now 79, and feel just like this young man every time I watch this live version of Comfortably Numb - David Gilmour literally makes his guitar sing to one's soul. This is probably the best live Rock performance ever - and I'm referring to the entire Pulse concert!

I found Floyd summer of 74! Dark Side had been out for awhile. First time I heard DSOTM A bunch of us bought some weed and beer and went to the drive in. What a night! Full moon, sweet summer night, buzzed on the way home my sisters then boyfriend had dark Side on 8 track. Loved Floyd every since.
I was at that concert. It was the amazing spectacle I'd ever seen, or have seen since. Absolutely nothing has ever come close to Pulse. A great reaction from your Mum! I agree that this video should be viewed by everybody, just to show what musical talent is. I'm too old to be fond of rap - my way of relaxing does not include having people shouting incomprehensibly at me. We've lost the music. It's all gone wrong.
I'm so envious to people who experienced this show or other shows on the tour :). I don't think I will be ever be able to experience such a show in the rest of my lifetime.
It isn’t just the incomprehensible shouting but the content of the lyrics that turns me off. So much anger and disrespect; especially towards police and women.

I saw this Pulse concert at RFK Stadium in Wash DC. While not the exact show this was filmed, it was still the same show. I've always said, Pink Floyd is the best band in the entire history of music. Period!

I've been a Pink Floyd fan for over 50 years and they are the masters of live music with David Gilmour being in the top echelon of all time time great guitar players. Great reaction.
This concert is absolutely amazing! Can you imagine being there and feeling David’s guitar solos with quadraphonic sound? It was incredible! I started listening at 12 and now at 60 I still get goosebumps when I listen to Pink Floyd. ❤❤

Luckily I was at the U.K. leg of that tour at Earls Court 1994. I originally saw them in the early 1980’s on The Wall tour then again in 1988 at Wembley Stadium on the Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour.

That PULSE live version is even better with a very long 2nd solo, David Gilmour took the time to buid it, and your emotion goes higher and higher... as he plugs his guitar directly to your soul....

I was at Earls Court Theatre in London in '94 and I can honestly say that this concert was the best I have ever experienced in my 56 years on this Planet. I'm still getting goose bumbs every time I listen to the live Pulse version. Thanks for a great reaction.

Same, drove down from North Yorkshire with a bunch of mates. 24 at the time, still got the ticket stub and t-shirt. Great night. Earls court exhibition centre is now gone i think its a fecking shopping centre.
The Pulse version is absolutely incredible. It seemed as though David went into a different world late in the second lead. I get chills every time I see the video, even now watching this.
They recorded P.U.L.S.E over 2 nights. I went to both. Comfortably Numb, for me, is the absolute best tune ever recorded. This particular live version is the very best. To be there when it was recorded was awesome. To be able to relive the moment again and again is just wonderful. I do relive it as often as I can. I know every note of this version in detail. I'll never get tired of this tune. I get goosebumps with every listen.
I once played this song to a girlfriend that I had. After listening to it, she turned to me and said, "You actually like that song?" That is when I slowly pulled over the car and came to a stop. I pulled the door handle and opened my door. I gently walked over to her side of the car and kindly opened her door. Then I nicely said, "Peace Out Girl!"
Well done young man, for introducing your mom to Pink Floyd. Her reaction and feelings were totally accurate. When I want to mellow out (especially these last 2 1/2 years) I put on Pink Floyd, (or Supertramp) , strap on the headphones and just relax.

There's no doubt the Pulse show set the bar for live performances. Gilmour extended version of Comfortably Numb is absolutely stunning. He just works that guitar like a wizard, up and down the neck with every note dancing on one's emotional pallet. A number of other great Pulse songs are High Hopes, Sorrow, and Run Like Hell. The whole show rocked, but those are standouts.
Constantly recognized as the greatest solo of all time. You NEVER tire of listening and watching. Makes you proud to be English.

I had the chance to see this show twice when they came to Montreal.
The second evening during this song I watched the reaction of the crowd, which seemed absorbed by this extraordinary sound and visual universe.
Everyone had this look, as if they had just met aliens from a distant galaxy.

When I first heard this song shortly after its release in the 1970’s, I cried my eyes out as I found it incredibly emotional. Best song ever written in my view. It’s a good thing that I happened to be on my own when I first heard it as it would have been embarrassing! Also, the song comes with heart wrenching lyrics like ‘the child has grown, the dream has gone’.

Back in the day, it was called "acid rock" because it takes you on a trip, and you dont even need to leave the farm. You're a good son to turn your mother on to Pink Floyd. PF is the pinnacle of music, that other crap is nothing more than "bubble gum" noise. Love the way you do your reactions and from an old Floydian to a new Floydian....Great job!!! Peace.

As I'm sure many others have said, Pink Floyd is so much more than music. It's an _experience._ They ARE their own music genre. Anything similar is merely imitation - and I've never even found "similar".

I feel absolutely blessed to say i was at this concert as a 21 year old with my then girlfriend. I knew nothing about the band at the time but this concert was out of this world. Im 50 now and still cant process that i was there to witness live what is now regarded as the best solo ever to exist and many would argue the greatest ever concert too. David Gilmour still mesmerizes me to this day. Nothing can being me to tears like this does.

I saw this tour in 1994 in Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. Unreal, unbelievable, sound and visual experience. Greatest band ever. Best solo in Rock and Roll.

I just turned 70 years old. I transcend into my younger self every time I hear these songs. I was a stone rocker and spent all of my spare money on concert tickets. My hearing suffered for it but I have a lifetime of great memories.
Seen This 3 Times live and still can't get enough of it...I lived this and am so sorry for those who missed this in real life...

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

I am 71 and still listen to them Saw them do Dark Side of the Moon in my 20's.
It was sooo good had to see it two different times in two different states. I've seen many of the classic rock greats in my day, too many to name, and they were great but NOTHING has ever topped Pink Floyd Pulse concert. Including previous Pink Floyd concerts I've been to. They upped their game on every tour! There isn't a band around that can compare to these guys and I don't see how anyone could possibly do any better!
I often wonder if everyone at that Pulse concert realises how lucky they were to be there hearing that live.

And on the seventh day God created David Gilmore and his Fender Stratocruiser. Your mother's reaction was great. She started just watching but by the end of what many of us consider to be the greatest guitar solo ever, she was so into it. It's great to see younger generations enjoy the music we grew up to, and I liked disco too. Great reaction and thank you for sharing.
That was one of the greatest concerts I ever witnessed. I was lucky enough to be on the 10th row center. AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

Your comment about PF's music transporting you to another universe is spot on. One big difference in how people listen to music now versus the 70's when I was in college, is that we listened to entire albums straight through. We didn't usually pick individual songs unless it was to make a mix-tape. PF's music demands to be heard that way. We would kick back in a chair or lie down on the couch, "burn a little rope", and then just lie back, eyes closed, and let the music transport us to other worlds, other dimensions, other states of consciousness. PF was the absolute pinnacle of that (and yes, they may be in the prog rock bucket, but they are their own thing). Of course, most of the popular music being made today does not lend itself to that, it's changed, and not for the better in general. After listening to Dark Side or WYWH straight through like that, I'd open my eyes and feel like I was coming out of meditation (that deep relaxation your mom mentions). I too, wish young folks today could experience that and appreciate this amazing music on a deeper level than just bopping around half-listening to Spotify or whatever. Kudos to you - you have discovered the riches in this music, and I hope you enjoy it for all your life! Shine On, fellow Floydian!
Me and all my friends were musicians, and we were all blown away with Pink Floyd. We would sit and look at each other, and say, "What was that? A giant Flugelhorn?" Floyd was the best, and I suppose always will be.
I was a little concerned that your Mom might not be getting it as she gave little away in her expressions but, clearly, she loved it. When Pink Floyd started out they did a gig in a school in Notting Hill, London. It was an experimental school as no ordinary school would have allowed it in 1967. When they stopped playing the kids were completely silent. Pink Floyd had put them all in a trance. It would be great if you could react to some of their earlier material, particularly their work when Syd Barret was steering the ship through psychedelic seas.

I took my step mother to see Pink Floyd's The Wall in LA in 1980. Her comment was "that's not what I thought a rock concert would be like."
She loved it.
Absolutely one of the most iconic guitar solos of all time. Fortunately I was able to see David Gilmour perform this live on the Pulse tour, and also when Pink Floyd performed The Wall at Earls Court in 1981.

I have loved this song ever since 1979. Pulse put it into a new category. Sad that they had lost Roger at this point and it's his genius that created it, but this particular performance is an out of body experience. I have no idea how many times I have experienced it since 1995, but it never fails to take me along with it .

I really need to go back and watch your first reaction to Comfortably Numb. The way your face lit up when the full on light show started reminded me of the feeling I had waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 70s seeing Pink Floyd. It was nice to see that in a young person of today. My kids are mostly metal heads, as am I, but we will all stop for a bit and listen to Floyd!
This is my fave Floyd song and in my top two all-time favorite songs. I see you've reacted to some Led Zeppelin but not Kashmir. These two songs are basically 1a and 1b for me. If you haven't heard Kashmir, I think it's another song that would blow you away. I'd listen to the album version first, but they do have some really good live versions out there too.

I can't seem to say it enough - I could listen to this every day, and not grow tired of it. For the record ( not vinyl 🤪 ) I turned 77 in September of this year and recall when PF was producing some of its finest work. Young people, such as this very likeable young man, inspire me to believe that we had something very special back in the day, and I have no fear it will ever be 'lost' as long as new generations keep getting exposed to the music.

❤️🥰 I'm a British grandma, pink Floyd was my favourite group when I was a lot younger can remember carrying my second son an relaxed to dark side of the moon as it wasn't an easy pregnancy it helped a lot , when he was born if I played this album it would calm him and send him off to sleep , but it had to be played very high, LOL he still loves it now and he's 30yrs old play your mom the whole album from the start it tells it's own story 🥰❤️💋
I had the privilege of being at this concert. O2 arena London UK. Ironic pink Floyd's home town. Never been as emotional in my life even more than my wedding day. Hairs standing up on my arms shivers goose bumps the works. Pink Floyd David gilmore are a UK sensation.

I had the privilege of seeing Pink Floyd in concert in my hometown of Birmingham, AL in 1994. It was The Division Bell tour and it was their final tour also. It was one of the most awesome things I’ve ever experienced!! The venue was a stadium named Legion Field that once hosted college football games, including the yearly Iron Bowl (Auburn vs Alabama) and I was on the 19th row. They had a huge inflatable pig that was a couple of stories tall and the way they had the air flowing through it made it appear to be running. I remember looking up at it with a sleight buzz thinking “man, that is one huge pig” lol
They sound the same live as they do on their studio recordings.
That concert is one of my most awesome memories ❤
It's so great to see younger generations discovering and appreciating what is surely the golden era of rock...one of the most unique bands of that era.

In 1968 I was aged 9. Our local Bandstand on Parliament Hill Fields London had a load of hippies playing one afternoon. I remember sitting there watching them with a aroma in the air. Many years later I discovered it was Pink Floyd. I have seen them twice since. 1980 Earls Court when they played their world tour, London Paris and Los Angeles. The second time was in 1988 at the Sydney arena, A few years later I was walking down Hampstead High st in London. Outside a shop was a black Labrador waiting, as I was playing with him a man came out and it was David Gilmour. I told him that I had seen Pink Floyd in 68, he was surprised that I had remembered. We had a lovely conversation for about 10 minutes. What a beautiful person he is. I thought I would share this with you 👍
Def bring mom back. It's always great to introduce someone new to the magic that is rock and roll. You have to show her some of the gems you've already seen, plus new stuff for you both. A fam that rocks together, stays together...or something like that 😁😁
Seeing Pink Floyd in concert especially being 12 rows away from the stage listening to this music for 3 hours nonstop , when it's over and the lights come on you have just been through a religious experience ! And it takes hours for the brain to come back down to earth !
At the Pulse Concert, they finished the main bulk of the concert, then "allowed" themselves to be called back for the encore. For that they played two songs: Comfortably Numb and the finale, Run Like Hell.
You MUST watch the Pulse production of Run Like Hell. It was a spectacular finish to the Pulse Concert. Cheers.

Outstanding!! Get her on SORROW from the same concert. She would love HIGH HOPES from the 94 Pulse concert also. So soothing, the slide solo at the end is amazing!!

saw Pink Floyd 3 times on same tour while stationed in Germany 2 outdoor 1 indoor in the 80's not only an audio experience but also a visual experience just incredible
I was in high school when this album came out. Loved them then, love them now!!! Sadly, I never had the opportunity to see them live, I had always heard their concerts were incredible!! Thanks for sharing, this song brings back so many memories..
