- On Part Two of Cockpit Casual, "Art of the Long-Haul", Steve and Ava make their way from Jakarta to Cairo via Colombo and Muscat. This episode features a lot of flight footage including a segment over the desert of Saudi Arabia, and a gorgeous visual approach into Cairo with the Pyramids of Giza clearly visible.
The story follows Steve Giordano and Aaron Van Arsdale as they trek from Alice Springs Australia to Francazal France in an Airbus A320 that was just re-activated from long term storage in the desert.
The Cockpit Casual series is a self-filmed, narrated, and produced collection of travel and adventure videos filmed by Giordano, featuring an original Jazz soundtrack recorded by Giordano's father Steve Giordano Sr. The flights are empty ferry flights on large commercial jet aircraft on behalf of the leasing companies. Giordano is a former airline pilot and currently runs the Nomadic Aviation Group; a Part 91 flight department specializing in flight-test and delivery throughout the airline industry. You can find out more about Cockpit Casual on the Speedtapefilms website: www.speedtapefilms.com
Never stop making these. The music, the visuals, the story… just fantastic
Thanks!! Glad you get the vision 😎
I agree, at some point this becomes like a hallucinated dream. I can totally imagine showing this in some chill out scene in a busy electronic dance party where people would come and relax, looking at some beautiful footage and high spirited electronic music.
Yeah, this is so well edited. The perfect mix of relaxing music, pleasant narration and amazing aviation visuals and insights. If Justplanes is "aviation-p**n", than this is aviation-cuddling :D
Music in particular
Steve is such a great storyteller - I swear that I could happily listen to him commentating on paint drying.
😂 appreciate that. That’s pretty much what some of these flights feel like.
Yes you can just lay in the dark and meditate with your eyes close and just visualize what he is seeing.
Whoever has the Zynski's on deck at 9:08 is awesome. I always have a pack with me and a pack on deck when I am going anywhere. A nice little nicotine buzz is sometimes all you need when you're a little stressed.
That’s me! Yep I’ve always got a few cans in the bag
Pilot here. You’re right about Oman. I lived there and flew from Muscat for several years. It’s a wonderful country.
This is brilliant, never imaged being hooked to the life of ferry pilots but this is just what I’m looking for, adventure! 👍🏾🌍
It’s certainly that! I love sharing these adventures with the world. For the last 15 years the stories only existed in my memory!
The soundtrack is just right for the scenery and the dialog. Every episode is a gem.
I have piloted this particular aircraft 2 years ago. Gives an odd feeling seeing it on screen. (completely agreed on the lawn chair pax seats)
Great videos btw. I am absolutely hooked to this channel! Also, props to Mr Steve Giordano Sr for the wonderful Jazz soundtracks. Keep up the wonderful work. See you in the 3rd part of this series.
Thanks so much Varun! Ah you’re an indigo pilot? Very cool. Was a pretty good ship!
@@CockpitCasual oh no! You know what is super cool? This channel. Storytelling is an absolute artform and you sir are nailing it. Would love to come across you tête-à-tête. Cheers!
Must love the Sri Lankan hospitality even for a 45 minutes stay
Yeah Sri Lanka is great!
Wow, Cairo is such a drab city from the air!
I think it’s magical! It is quite color coordinated though..very earth colored!
I knew ferry pilots were a thing, but I had no idea how you do what you do… exceptional production quality. Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your world with us. Well done and blue skies sir!
Cheers Joe, glad you enjoy it. It’s a very small and normally opaque side of the industry - which is why I decided to film it!
I have to say Steve as I continue to churn through the videos, this is the best pilot experience channel I've seen. The way it's filmed and of course the music capture the imagination. Your narration and expertise really outshines the competing channels.
Appreciate that! People seem to be catching on! Maybe we will hit 100K by next year 🤷🏻♂️🤞🏼
👍✅Impressive what you do, long hours to stay alert. Tks for sharing!
That feeling of hitting the pillow after a long haul is indescribable. So tired but feels so good.
Except then I always wake up 3 hours later wide awake! ALWAYS!
Love your videos, the music, everything. Keep on flying and filming...
Mesmerizing…the music is divine!
Appreciate that 👍🏼
each video’s production and quality gets better and better. Nice work Steve 👍
Thanks!! Glad you noticed. Just brought some new audio gear and am experimenting with getting better quality audio. Should start showing up this summer in videos, as I still have a backlog of trips to edit!
Thanks for taking us along on another adventure. Excellent as always.
Excellent!
You never fail to impress Steve! Can’t wait for episode 3
Great videos! The editing is fantastic. Can’t wait for pt. 3!
Amazing adventures!
Man, the last time I was over that SW Asia part of the world was 2005 and was in multiple military aircraft. I had pictures but a hard drive crash lost them. I still have the hard drive, hoping to get those back some day.
Nice synching and clever edit @ 12:25 !
Excellent...well done !
Best Channel on Aviation!
Very Well Done. Steve you could easily make a living as a Documentary Filmmaker/Narrator. This has got to be one of the best RUclips channels. Carry On.
Thank you so much for including maps - really gives you perspective over the distances covered
Your videos are brilliant. An insight into another world of aviation. Please keep them coming!
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
As always, what fantastic and entertaining video! Cheers from Germany!
I'm loving the series, looking forward to part 3

Fascinating - the music, imagery and the editing combine in a beautiful way. Thanks!
Steve your story telling is amazingly relaxing. Glad I found your channel
Awesome guys 👍🏽
Great photography/music.
Love the jazz in the background btw
Incredible account. Very happy I found this!
Amazing content!!
Another fantastic episode, thank you Steve!
Cheers Lucas
Very good and unusual video - like it as I followed same route while back in a piston on ferry!
Absolutely fabulous! The trip, the narration, the music... Just awesome! Thank you for this insight into the lives of ferry pilots. You guys are lucky. Looking forward to the next part.
Another great video
great vlog, never seen airliners being ferried but i suppose they do, wished i had knuckled down at school, would of loved to have done this, can’t wait until the next instalment 👍🏼
Big fan of your channel. Thanks for showing one of the little-seen sides of aviation.
Thanks Steve and team. Great stuff, please don't stop :)
No plans to!
Your videos are an inspiration. This is my new favourite channel, I'm so happy you popped up in my recommendations. My whole life I've dreamt of being a captain for a major airline. Now I just want to join you guys and ferry planes all over the world!
It amazes me how you guys understand everything on the comms! English is not my native language, but I read and write it with confidence. But when I hear the towers or other radios on the comms I really struggle to understand what they say. I wonder if other pilots also struggle with this, even when English IS their native language.
Great vids gents!! Worked out of AUH for 15yrs, so your flights brought back great memories. Just like sonebody said before, great storytelling!!👍👍👍😬
Good landing at Cairo Captain.
Good story-Teller :)
I have to comment again. This is remarkable footage, wonderful, haven't seen anything quite like it so far on YT.
As a 20 year 320 guy, just gotta say how much I enjoy these. Well done!
Fantastic content, love the music!
That auto-fueling system on the Airbus is amazing.
Well there goes the week... Tell my family I'll be here watching if they need me. Great stuff
Another superb video Steve....Loving your content keep up the great work
Cheers thanks!
I thought my FEMA friends were nomads. haha... not even close. Amazing footage, what a unique life. I could not do it. Thank you for making these.
The beautyful music of Oregon fits perfectly!
I think i just watched the best aviation video on RUclips so far
Epic video 😊😊😊
Awesome video. Can't wait for part 3.
It's been uploaded!
These really are masterclass videos on RUclips, the quality, the storytelling, the captivation, Steve, you really have a talent that very few on YT possess.
Really appreciate that! Trying to do something ‘different’
Addictive watching! Bloody awesome videos and narration. Brilliant thank you
👍🏼
Another gem of an episode! Loved every minute if it, whilst following today's trip between HNL and PHX. Happy Sunday!!
Cheers! Thanks - now for some sleep!
@@CockpitCasual What? Sleep is only for us mere mortals. You are supposed to be superman.
Amazing series Steve love your work
Thank you!
Awesome music, awesome story, awesome footage, cant get enough.
Thanks Ali
Great job on production and very informative!
What a fantastic video. An AvGeek's dream. Thank you for making this!
Thank you for watching! Spread the word 😎
Loved the approach into Cairo, soundtrack was perfect - very atmospheric!
I have so much of that atmospheric stuff from "Symbiosis" recorded by my father, that it's sometimes hard to pick the best one for the scene - but this one REALLY worked! Thanks!!
Fantastic as always! Great footage, narration, soundtrack... it's the best thing on YT!! Thank you very much!!
Thanks so much Adriano
Dude, solid content
Cheers James
Really enjoyed this movie... great sond track too
Nice work. A packet of Tim Tams is a meal in itself!.
This is why I’m fat
@@CockpitCasual If you ever need any let me know….:D
Once again a top notch production. The amount of detail you put in your commentary is fantastic. I learn a lot each time. It’s also super cool to see you jump between flying the Boeings and the Airbus, I’d imagine that takes some getting used to and knowing the flows and procedures for each airplane. Impressive work as always man. Take care and fly safe!
Definitely takes getting used to - I am rated on 10 aircraft types and am presently current on 7!
@@CockpitCasual Now that is impressive! Thanks again for the reply Steve, take care!
Thanks to your videos, I'm developing an appreciation for Jazz.
I also like the detail you give about the planes you fly. Thank-you.
Glad to hear it… that is my father’s goal! To generate interest in the art form!
Amazing soundtrack as always... Aaand that view of Cairo is simply mindblowing! Tks for another awesome video!
Glad you liked it
phenomenal video, so glad you popped up in my recommendations.
Thanks! Word is getting out 😉
My kind of channel. Screw the cabin reviews. You guys are the real deal!!
Another excellent episode as usual. Top notch music too 👍👍
Safe travels today as well Steve & SkyDogZen & crew 👍🤞
Thanks! We made it. Now trying to stay conscious long enough to make my flight back to Philly
Once again brilliant can’t wait for the next one .. starting point is my home town ybne welcome back anytime…..
I love this series. Please create more.
Balancing this hobby with a crazy job - but I’ll keep posting them as I have time to make them. Each episode takes me about a month to make!
very nice report, again. Love the non-routine of these ferry missions. Some looooonnng duty times/days... Looking forward to the next episode , and new missions. Keep up the good work!
Super long. Especially since Covid. The best part of the job was getting out every few hours and seeing different parts of the world. For now, it’s more mundane and the days are VERY challenging due to restrictions. Things seem to be moving in the right direction now - thank god
I really enjoy watching these videos…👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks - I like making them!
