This seems to have solved my question on cleaning an engine effectively without using degreasers and or water/steam. After reading some of your replies to comments of concern, and after watching your updated video, I’m feeling confident to use this method. 👍
I clean my engine with a heavy duty degreaser and power wash, after that I used a blower to dry the excess water off, it comes out perfectly fine, at the end I apply tire shine to make it look even shinier try it !!!
It may make it look nicer but it also attracts more dust since the tire foam doesn't actually dry completely. So once you drive the vehicle road dust sticks to all the surfaces more, hence creating gunk and buildup that will in fact cause more issues than it’s worth. I suggest an Orange degreaser and plain water. Be sure to disconnect the battery.
I know the stuff dries on tires..it actually makes them look worse than never using the stuff at all, if you stop using it..Seems to dry them out and look a dullish Grey brown! I switched over to the Meguires tire gel, it really soaked it up for a few applications then it was a normal application from then on..
@@tinamcgarrah7794 You are righ, thanks for the tip, I willl Meguires tire gel. This tire foam cleaner leaves a residue on the surface that atracts dust.
Hey, great to hear it! So many people are quick to say it doesn't work when they have never even tried it. I always say this method will never beat a $200 hand engine detail but for what it ia, it works good. Thanks for letting me know it worked for you!
I used just regular amorall and a rag. Took longer but everything was clean and shining when I finished and I never changed my hoses or belts either. Looks good and allmit takes is a little time and effort. God Bless
It's an aerospace protectant that's supposed to be really good. I've never used it but would definitely try it if I had some. It's available on amazon.

Thank you. I was not sure until I watched your follow-up video. I like a clean engine but don't have a giy to do this stuff or show me how to do this so I'm very grateful for the info. I live in the SW desert where sand and dirt prevails.
The dust will stick to the oily residue left behind from the tire shine he sprayed, for you, just wipe down with water, or wipe after the tire shine foam soaks (my preference)
You want a power washer and a degreaser ,this was liking put perfume on a pig.Its not cleaning anything just putting a shine too dirt.Trust me i have been detailing cars for over 20 years and i know what im talking about
I am Impressed ,,, Sir Let the People Speak… U will never be able to Explain All How Ever U Try To ,,,, Follow UR Fans… who appreciate & Believes U Sir Thumbs Up
Right on the mark. Years ago I used water to clean a Ford 2007 Escape engine and the water got into the sparkplug coils. There were 3 sparkplugs on the rear meaning you have to remove the intake manifold to replace. A very expensive repair tire foam may have saved me a ton of money.
I learned about the tire foam from a large dealership that I did work for almost twenty years ago. There were even less electronics on engines back then and they were still having problems with the water getting into places it shouldn't and causing problems.
My guy at Autozone gave me the tire shine tip quite a few years ago.Dealerships use this method all over the country. especially in the northern states...
Thank you from oman for this quite easy way of detailing the engine. Also big thanks goes to your son for his service not just for USA but for all freedom of humans everywhere. Will pray for his safe return to you.
I've been using Armor All foam for years on My Car/truck tires. S/N, I use Carpet Foam cleaner also to keep the shine lasting longer on tires. But I've got say, this is the BEST & Cheapest way to keep Your engine bays clean. I'm For Sure doing this to All My vehicles, Starting today!! Thanks for the Secret technique 👌🏾
I’ve always used super clean degreaser it makes it look brand new and doesn’t leave that oily armor all look. I use this method because if I have a leak I want to see where it’s coming from. Never heard of the tire foam thing until now lol. Looks good though
This is great stuff! Some over spray covered some of the black plastic trim under the wipers on my 05 Honda and made it look brand new...so I used some on the rest of it, what a difference !!
Thanks for the tip, makes sense, tires are rubber, as are belts and hoses and the polymer engine components. Will try this out on an old Ford CVPI high mileage gas guzzler.
Thank you for showing and your son but, I have to say, this armor all is just going to leave a sticky residue and attract more dirt. 30-40 years ago, when I was working on my own cars, I use to use Gunk. I don't know if they sell it anymore. You would disconnect the battery. Cover all electrical exposed parts with Clephane wrap. Spray Gunk on using pretty much the whole can. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Take a garden hose, rinse it off. Tap any wet spots near places like distributor caps etc. Place battery cable back on. Turn engine on and let run till warm. That would dry it off completely. I would get more money when selling a car after that
You know, everyone likes to think they are an "expert" and most of them are full of 💩. In this video ruclips.net/video/oGsE2lo3QXw/видео.html I tried to catch it on fire with an open flame so watch and see what happens. If an open flame doesn't catch it on fire, do you really think it's going to catch fire from the battery terminals?
Great, Wow so much we can learn online, on RUclips... thanks chaps. PS one fellow mentioned a good point, the spray foam does a good job but the dirt, oil and a slime is still there somewhere in some form? a leaf-blower a power a hair dryer to blow it down on the ground may be a good idea? Just saying eh! all the best Cheers!
Some of the dirt and grease will make it all the way down, but no, not all of it will...at least without help it all won't. It doesn't bother me at all, but yes, something like a leaf blower will help to remove even more. If someone is comfortable spraying their engine off with the garden hose, it works even better.
All I know to say God Bless these videos and every one that makes them i was a single mother and didn't know Anything about cars Until i started watching these videos machanics lie to me and take my money so thank u all because every little bit counts God Bless u all❤️
I never heard such a load of bollox!...it's like taking a shower with no water! cleaning the engine means a detergent and power hose. what yer- man is doing is shining up the parts on a clean engine!
finally someone else that has enough commen sense to not spray water on there engine, i,ve been doing the exact same thing for years, and so does detail shops, but all these guy's get on here and just about disassemble there engine to make it look good ,then they spray wayer all over it,and yo make it worse they spray dish detergent on it also that dryes the rubber out on there hoses and belts wow ,goid video my man.
Thank you! There are a lot of people who completely dismiss this method, many of which have never even tried it or have been scared by other videos claiming how "dangerous" it is lol. Too bad they don't give it shot and see for themselves. Oh well, those of us that actually use it know but some people will never be convinced.
Love this idea gonna try it. Everyday where I live in Trinidad I have to drive on dusty roads 1 1/2hrs each way to work when not wet if wet muddy roads. 👍
I've never had any problems with light to moderate dirt and grease. Maybe you could do a small section to see how it does and whether it might need additional degreasing.
Well conditioning hoses isn't actually a 'thing'. The heat they recieve from the engine will evaporate that stuff right off. Plus hoses have heated fluids traveling inside of them nothing you do the outside can prevent wear on the inside. Just change radiator fluid and power sterring fluid every 2 years to keep from building much heat and prevents rust where hoses meet the metal parts
@@marquisgrissom9129 Conditioning hoses *is* a thing. Will it prevent hoses or belts from cracking or drying out? No, but it *does* extend their life. Using your own misguided analogy, no one should even wash their vehicles since they are being washed on the outside which does nothing for the underside of the metal.
@@jackarup4481 camparing apples to oranges i see. Don't believe the hype. Like i said most of those hoses carry hot matter through then. When they crack, they crack where it meets the metal and because they were probably roughly removed at some point before the failure. So theres no magic lotion to prevent that
@@jackarup4481 That's doesn't make sense. If don't remove the road dirt from the inside it will eventually wear out the inside. Just like dirt on a carpet. People that don't clean their carpets have wear tracks, where the dirt grinds a path into the carpet. But that doesn't happen to carpet when people regularly vacuum their carpet, same fact inside the engine.
I just bought a hybrid car and there's a lot of electrical components under that hood that I'm hesitant about taking a water hose to. I'm definitely going to try this.
I tried tire foam years ago, I read the can and it said hands-free spray on leave on dry looking tires, wipe if nessisairy won't damage paint I did the tires had lots left so I just put it on every thing. Just like the can said resist dust on tires .. I wiped the fenders off and the flat areas or heavy dirt. That's it. BTW I NOW CHARGE $78.00 FOR CAR LOTS OR $59.00 FOR MORE THAN TWO VEHICLES.NOW MY FRIENDS GET IT DONE FOR $40 OR $50.00. They love it and it resist most dirt unless it's water on it,that wipes off usually. If I'm busy I have a girl that does it for me for $20.00 she's always asking if I have any jobs for her. If the radiator is dirty. I use cold engine, Simple Green and a hose. Big bucks for nothing. I friggin love it! 12years now no complaints I don't do grease. I do Semi Trucks also same price unless the rad is full of bugs. OKEY BYE. DAVE
Whether you like it or not, it's a good idea. Not nearly as intrusive as steam cleaning an engine. And for those that are still squeamish, spray some on a rag and wipe it on. I'm sure it works just as well. Good job dude!!
Thanks great info, This is formulated not to harm synthetic rubber used for tires, Hoses and plastise for cars, Going to use this than rinse it with very lite water spray ...👍
I just let it evaporate and dry. Wiping it down would definitely remove more dirt but since the engine compartment is constantly exposed to water, dirt, grime and grease, I don't personally want to spend the extra time wiping it down for it to just get dirty again quickly.

I did not use water after the foam. I have used water in the past and sprayed it off afterwards but I usually don't. It's going to work better if it's sprayed off but the whole reason behind cleaning it this way is to *NOT* spray a bunch of water on the engine. Here is an update video ruclips.net/video/oGsE2lo3QXw/видео.html
@@dcdecastro1578 I've been using No Touch Foam Tire Spray or the Armor-All Foam Tire Spray under my hood for over 28 years with no issues. What I usually do, I'll take a power washer or the garden hose and spray off the engine with some water. Make sure you Do Not spray directly into any wiring harnesses. To be extra careful you can always cover them with a plastic bag. When I am done spraying off all the loose dirt and grime I wipe the excess water off with rags. I then will either drive the car for a bit or let the engine idle to get to normal temperature to help evaporate any moisture from the water. Then I spray it on a cool engine let it sit on there for about 10 minutes then I take a clean rag and wipe it all down. 😎 Wallah nice detailed engine compartment.😆 I hope that helps you out.
Thank you young man. You have saved me time in many ways. You're one cool and smart young man. I wish you could help me with my Pontiac G6. I can't hear like I use to and I have replaced my wheel bearing, but the noise came back after a year. It sounded like the driver's side and when I turn to the right it wasn't as loud and stayed the same when I turned to the right, so I changed the driver's side. It's not as loud but it's still there. Help
Sorry I just seen my mistake. When I turn to the right it wasn't as loud but when I turned to the left it stayed the same, so I changed the driver's side. The noise is still there but not as loud. I was thinking maybe a bad part or maybe I have to change both again. I don't know. Help
I'm certainly no mechanic but if you changed both of them and the noise went away for a year and then came back, I would guess one or both might need to be changed again. If they were cheaper bearings, it could just be failing prematurely or maybe water or debris got inside the seal. If you live somewhere that they salt the roads, that could cause early failure. Even bad roads can wear them out. I had a truck with 238k miles that I never changed the bearings on but my sons car only had about 60k before his needed to be changed. There's just a lot of factors that can go into how long they last. If it were me, I would go ahead and change them both again and be sure to use high quality bearings.
Same thing we used to do it a little small ma & pop shop car sale lot. Spray that crap all over the place that way at hides any leaks and or areas where there may be issues because it’s all shiny and therefore it’s hard to identify issues/leaks. On the other hand if you do have a solid platform with no leaks and runs good, that stuff does wonders.
Cool video but a bit misleading. You really didn't clean your engine, you basically hid the dirt with a film of greasy foam which attracts more dirt/dust ;-)
It has worked either way. I do try to let it sit for a while so the product has longer to work because it will evaporate quicker when the engine gets hot.

I clean my engine with a heavy duty degreaser and power wash, after that I used a blower to dry the excess water off, it comes out perfectly fine, at the end I apply tire shine to make it look even shinier try it !!!
Main this one of the most educational vids on vehicle's that I have ever watch .thanks so much for the vid will try it .
Have to be careful with Orange degreaser on an aluminum engine. Can etch the engine. Ask me how I found out…
@@nochannelhere8799 how?
@@nochannelhere8799 Nope! Not gonna do that! lol 😬
just tried this method today on my challenger, really works like the dude said. thanks bud saved me some serious coin.
God Bless
I do mine with 303 others works even better and use half as much
@@aydentheninja877 sorry I am from Brasil. What is 303?
It's an aerospace protectant that's supposed to be really good. I've never used it but would definitely try it if I had some. It's available on amazon.
I a 303 lover .. I spray it on everything =)
Do not use this. Motor oil ok. Not this. Car will be a fire bomb in an accident. Read up.
This is too awesome, I love it. So I know what I will be doing this weekend, the easy way. Came on here for the best way to clean my engine before selling my truck, and this is it.Thank you to your son for his service, mine has returned finally after 3 tours a few years back, and I know how stressful that can be. God bless him and you. Thank you again.
Thank you for the kind words, it means a lot to both him and I. Also thank your son for his service, much respect to those willing to sacrifice and serve their country!

Neat idea of yours, greetings from Wales in the UK
Tried it and it works.
Hello from the USA👋 and thanks for watching! 👍👍
Wow!!! Beautiful!!! To your son thank you for his service .
Thank you from oman for this quite easy way of detailing the engine.
Also big thanks goes to your son for his service not just for USA but for all freedom of humans everywhere.
Will pray for his safe return to you.
Thank you so much!! It is greatly appreciated👍👍👍.
That's what I've been using and telling people about, as well! Easy work!

Yes sir, he's doing good. Has a year and a half left and not sure whether he will stay in or not. Thank you for your support!👍👍
I've been doing that for years I love that new car look
Thank you and thank your son for the service to our Nation.
I love this tip, I going to use it all thru ma cars hun..🤝

Nice video.. I really appreciate your help. Please give my salute to your son thanks for his services
This is great stuff! Some over spray covered some of the black plastic trim under the wipers on my 05 Honda and made it look brand new...so I used some on the rest of it, what a difference !!
Thanks for sharing this video and thank you for your son's service, Aloha from Hawaii 🤙🏾
Thank you for your support!👍👍
This is incredible! I'm trying this on every car I own from here on out.
You still using this method? How’s it working for you??
I did this to my Tacoma & 10 minutes later it was a Tundra! Thanks!
Lol!! 👍👍👍
Looks good! I certainly am going to try it! And, kudos to you for cleaning your buddies truck
Love this to clean your engine fast, quick and cheap. Thank you!
Thank you where can I get it in South Africa
I would try an auto parts store.
I thought I was the only one who did this. I use it on all plastic parts on my car and it works amazing.
It does work good. I also use it inside my wheel wells after wsshing to really give my truck that clean look.
Is the product non flammable?
I don't believe the foam itself is flammable, only the propellant. I tried to light it on fire here --> ruclips.net/video/oGsE2lo3QXw/видео.html
I would get more money when selling a car after that
Good idea, but somebody commented is it flamable on battery terminales? Thanks
Thank your son for his service 🇺🇸.
I certainly will. Thank you for your support!
I have used this for years and it works, a great way to improve the appearance of your engine compartment soecially if selling a car.
especially when it goes on sale
Will this stuff erode on certain portions? This is great I’m gonna try
@@AngieMusicArt never had a issue so far

Thanks for the video
I have a 2004 Toyota Corolla it’s dirty
But not that bad
Would this work or would I need to do other stuff to it
Thanks again
I've never had any problems with light to moderate dirt and grease. Maybe you could do a small section to see how it does and whether it might need additional degreasing.
@All American Mack. Thanks Mac
I’ll definitely try it
God bless
Thanks and same to you!
All American Mack can this safely work on Honda Accord engines
Thanks
I’m such a skeptic
That’s actually a great idea, since it’s designed for rubber it must condition the hoses/rubber tubing/etc.
That's it. BTW I NOW CHARGE $78.00 FOR CAR LOTS OR $59.00
FOR MORE THAN TWO VEHICLES.NOW MY FRIENDS GET IT DONE
FOR $40 OR $50.00.
OKEY BYE. DAVE

Good job Mack! Carpet and car engines... You the man! Hope all is well down in LA.
Tried That Some Years Back.... WORKS GREAT !!!*
Whether you like it or not, it's a good idea. Not nearly as intrusive as steam cleaning an engine. And for those that are still squeamish, spray some on a rag and wipe it on. I'm sure it works just as well.
Good job dude!!
Damn I love RUclips! Thanks for posting!

Car fire bombs. 😢😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂motor oil ok. Not this. Read. Car accidents. Bomb.
Great idea, thank you. Just wondering, how about wiping the tire cleaner down with a cloth, or just let it dry on?
I just let it evaporate and dry. Wiping it down would definitely remove more dirt but since the engine compartment is constantly exposed to water, dirt, grime and grease, I don't personally want to spend the extra time wiping it down for it to just get dirty again quickly.
Good job Daddio! I will definitely try this cleaner out. Thank your son for his service and god bless him and all your family! Thank you.

Been doing this for over 28 years. Works awesome and looks amazing when done
Awesome👍👍. Too bad so many people are quick to dismiss it and not give it a chance, they would be surprised.
Will it work under the hood of a 2008 Hummer H3 without damaging anything?
😎 Wallah nice detailed engine compartment.😆
I hope that helps you out.

Same thing we used to do it a little small
ma & pop shop car sale lot. Spray that crap all over the place that way at hides any leaks and or areas where there may be issues because it’s all shiny and therefore it’s hard to identify issues/leaks.
On the other hand if you do have a solid platform with no leaks and runs good, that stuff does wonders.
Great idea! I may do that next wash on my vehicles.
Cool video but a bit misleading. You really didn't clean your engine, you basically hid the dirt with a film of greasy foam which attracts more dirt/dust ;-)
Ja, das ist not good.
Do you run the engine afterwards, or do you keep it cool.
@@Crankshaft-nl5xuthat's a good question ❓❓
It has worked either way. I do try to let it sit for a while so the product has longer to work because it will evaporate quicker when the engine gets hot.
Ok

Did hosed it down with water first? Thanks!
I did not hose it down first, only used the tire foam.

Why does anybody have to clean the engine ?
No one *HAS* to clean their engine but there's nothing wrong if someone *wants* to clean it.
I was skeptical when I first saw this video. I recently got on an engine bay cleaning tear after watching some other videos. The engine bay in my 25 year old car was looking pretty good. Then I saw this product on the shelf at Home Depot for $4. I thought ‘what the hell, I’ll try it’. This really took my engine bay to the next level. The rubber and plastic parts look brand new. I’ll see how it holds up.
And how did it hold up?
How is it holding up?
