    Unpopular Opinion: No one has issues immediately after cleaning an engine bay. It's days to weeks later when the damage may become noticeable and often isn't even associated with the cleaning that took place some time ago. Many experienced mechanics cringe at the thought of washing an engine bay because they KNOW what the outcome can be. Be extra careful.
    With that said, these tips and techniques are probably the best for minimizing issues.
    Great work as always Pan.

    • @jasenrock
      @jasenrock Год назад +3

      that is true for old cars, where the gunk is probably blocking a oil leak.

      It'll definitely mess with the ignition coils on early 2000 models.

    • @igorspitz
      @igorspitz Год назад +3

      What is the point of cleaning it? May be a stupid question from my side, but I just do not understand why undertake the risk of damaging the engine. Will the cleaning help anything?

    • @MrAwyork
      @MrAwyork Год назад +1

      @@igorspitz because when you have to fill the oil, power steering, and any other fluid, you don't want anything falling into the hole. Also, when you have to service parts, they aren't gunked in grease. You don't want this grease to get into the fittings, bolt holes, etc. Essive dirt in your engine bay can get into electrical connections.

    • @BPoweredLove
      @BPoweredLove Год назад

      Well, how can you say "no one has issues immediately after cleaning an engine bay"? Of course some people do. People with old engines, crusty cracked rubber/plastics covering electronics and with a heavy hand. They can have immediate issues. And in all my years of cleaning engines, I never had a problem surface weeks later. But I also never acted a fool with water in there.
      Modern cars are totally different. They are very much designed to keep water out of areas where water shouldn't be.

      Why does does he not have more views? Number 1, he talks to fast. Number 2, he was kind of OK in the beginning but then it became all about the money. He never should have shown us his new Porsche. Once you start selling stuff it's not about information it's about profit. Not a hater, used to like him.

      @JeffSmith-eq3kc 7 месяцев назад +5

      @@stevelangsdorf7307how did it become all about the money? I watch tons of these videos and I don't see that at all. He's telling us what the best products to use are which is a pretty massive part of detailing. He uses dozens of companies products. In this video alone he goes through like ten manufacturers of products so he's not bought by any one of them.
      Also, the man clearly loves cars. Why do you care whether he bought a nice car? He's not allowed to buy a Porsche? The jealousy in that statement is wild.

      @@stevelangsdorf7307it’s a business that he has built. How do you run a business if you don’t make money? You are very clueless on your observation. You do realize he makes more or most money off his videos than what products he sells, right? And if you think he talks to fast then rewind it and listen or again or become a better listener.

      Hey guys, chill. I like Pan always have, I am very happy for him and his success. The question was how does he not have 2 million subscribers and I tried to be objective in my answer and give some reasons why he might not have as many as we think he should. I watch all the top guys and I don't get why he doesn't have more. But just because I answered the question doesn't mean I am a hater , it means I tried to answer the question. Obviously there are a lot of Pan hatrers out there or more people would be hitting his button. So you tell me why YOU think he doesn't have more viewers . Can't wait. TY Pan loved this engine detail video, I do pretty much as you did to detail my engine with similar products available here in Australia except on the hood/bonnet, there i find it much easier to use damp/wet micro fibre towels after spraying the metal areas to wipe off any dust and then vacuum the material sound proofing. I do it that way as i don't like to get a lot of water on that area. Loved this mate as so many as you said tell you DON'T DO IT!! you will cause issues, well I have never had an issue detail the engine bay and my mechanic loves me for it makes it a joy for him to work on and shows i care.

    I use Optimum Power Clean and steam to clean engine bays, along with microfibers and assorted brushes. I've used my old wheel woolies to clean some of the "less accessible" areas of engine bays. I blow them dry afterward. Another thing to consider is to block the air intakes to keep excess water from entering. For cold air induction systems, I wrap a gallon size ziploc bag around the air filter.

    Thanks Pan! It was great to meet you at SEMA. I always look forward to drinking coffee and watching your videos on a Saturday morning.
    I have over 20 years of auto repair experience. And agree that most things built after 2005 should handle these steps pretty well. Never use a garden hose, avoid high pressure contact from both washer and compressed air. You don’t want to force water past the weather pack seals. And of course, use common sense and look the engine over first. I would also watch out for labels fixed to plastic parts. They come off easily with water and dirt if not being careful. Same with powerful degreasers on painted engine covers.

Twice a year [for me] keeps things looking very tidy with the degree of difficulty and time consumption to a minimum. Patience and a bit of persistence on the initial deep clean then as you say "practice" can keep maintenance to a short time. Not to mention potential resale value! Gr8 vid! You know, I am thinking of unsubscribing from all the other detailing channels because I love the way you explain everything so well plus you seem to be doing videos of everything we need. Could I make a suggestion? Would you consider doing a "Old Car" series where you bring back an older car, say 10-15 year old car as a challenge back to new? New cars are a lot easier to maintain like your girlfriends car which is only a year old but I would enjoy seeing you challenge yourself with a neglected older car. Thanks for Oz.

    Great video as always. Still I'm not sure that using the pressure washer is safe. Instead I always use a couple of brushes and microfiber towels to do the job. It takes a bit more time but i think it safer that way and preventing any risk caused by water getting to some electrical parts, etc.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Год назад +22

      You do as you wish. I have pretty much always used a pressure washer and never once had any issue or feedback afterwards that something went wrong. Again, common sense. Also, a pressure washer uses less water compared to a garden hose. So although it seems like you're using a lot of water, you're actually using way less compared to a regular garden hose setup.

    • @kennglee
      @kennglee Год назад

      @@PanTheOrganizer LOL. Ivan is using a $20 garden hose that uses more water, while you’re using a $1500 pressure washer that uses less water. Ivan has saved himself a lot of money by using a little bit more water. Go Ivan.

    • @g.christopherlyn685
      @g.christopherlyn685 Год назад +3

      Actually it’s quite safe to use the pressure washer if you are using common sense, staying below 2000 psi, and always keep the sprayer moving as Pan says. Dealers use it and professional detailers have been using pressure washers for a long time now.

    • @k1sfd1974
      @k1sfd1974 Год назад +2

      If water getting into the engine bay was an issue, we’d have issues every time it rains or we run through standing water. The only issue I can see is if you get too close with a pressure washer. If you use a fan spray and stay at a sufficient distance, you’ll use much less water with a pressure washer than a garden hose. However; like Pan said: you do you.
      Edited for spelling

I like using Super Clean for the initial pre spray and a mixture of any APC and high foaming neutral car soap in my foam cannon or IK foam sprayer and apply a heavy rich foam to do it's work. I usually hit everything with my steamer and agitate with brushes and a final rinse. My go to protection is 1:1 dilution ratio of Chemical guys VRP. I will definitely consider your process by eliminating the steam to see if I can get the optimum results.
