The other three channels all do the "super dirty disaster detail car wash or barn finds", so I'm actually the biggest channel that focuses on tutorials and product reviews/testing. :)

      Why does does he not have more views? Number 1, he talks to fast. Number 2, he was kind of OK in the beginning but then it became all about the money. He never should have shown us his new Porsche. Once you start selling stuff it's not about information it's about profit. Not a hater, used to like him.

      @@stevelangsdorf7307how did it become all about the money? I watch tons of these videos and I don't see that at all. He's telling us what the best products to use are which is a pretty massive part of detailing. He uses dozens of companies products. In this video alone he goes through like ten manufacturers of products so he's not bought by any one of them.
      Also, the man clearly loves cars. Why do you care whether he bought a nice car? He's not allowed to buy a Porsche? The jealousy in that statement is wild.

      @@stevelangsdorf7307it’s a business that he has built. How do you run a business if you don’t make money? You are very clueless on your observation. Hey guys, chill. I like Pan always have, I am very happy for him and his success. The question was how does he not have 2 million subscribers and I tried to be objective in my answer and give some reasons why he might not have as many as we think he should. I watch all the top guys and I don't get why he doesn't have more. But just because I answered the question doesn't mean I am a hater , it means I tried to answer the question. Obviously there are a lot of Pan hatrers out there or more people would be hitting his button. So you tell me why YOU think he doesn't have more viewers . Can't wait. That alkaline stuff is caustic and a good electrical conductor. So probably more precautions would be needed for older cars. Also the brake fluid is hydroscopic and its reservoir cap usually have a little hole that one might not want to wash with pressure.

    Thanks Pan! It was great to meet you at SEMA. I always look forward to drinking coffee and watching your videos on a Saturday morning.
    I have over 20 years of auto repair experience. And agree that most things built after 2005 should handle these steps pretty well. Never use a garden hose, avoid high pressure contact from both washer and compressed air. You don’t want to force water past the weather pack seals. And of course, use common sense and look the engine over first. I would also watch out for labels fixed to plastic parts. They come off easily with water and dirt if not being careful. Same with powerful degreasers on painted engine covers.

    TY Pan loved this engine detail video, I do pretty much as you did to detail my engine with similar products available here in Australia except on the hood/bonnet, there i find it much easier to use damp/wet micro fibre towels after spraying the metal areas to wipe off any dust and then vacuum the material sound proofing. I do it that way as i don't like to get a lot of water on that area. Loved this mate as so many as you said tell you DON'T DO IT!! you will cause issues, well I have never had an issue detail the engine bay and my mechanic loves me for it makes it a joy for him to work on and shows i care.

    I use Optimum Power Clean and steam to clean engine bays, along with microfibers and assorted brushes. I've used my old wheel woolies to clean some of the "less accessible" areas of engine bays. I blow them dry afterward. Another thing to consider is to block the air intakes to keep excess water from entering. For cold air induction systems, I wrap a gallon size ziploc bag around the air filter.

    6:02 After I clean my engine on my 2020 Toyota Camry and let it dry . I liberally spray 303 Protectant , all over the engine compartment and let it soak in . Never any streaking / staining issues , etc. I do this about twice a year to help rubber and plastic components resist cracking and fading . Then about a month later I will clean the engine again , as the 303 Protectant attracts surface dirt . Best time I think is during hot spring and summer . That allows the 303 Protectant to be really absorbed the best . My air intake is open , so I stuff a microfiber towel in it to prevent water from getting inside

Twice a year [for me] keeps things looking very tidy with the degree of difficulty and time consumption to a minimum. Patience and a bit of persistence on the initial deep clean then as you say "practice" can keep maintenance to a short time. Not to mention potential resale value! Gr8 vid! Could I make a suggestion? Would you consider doing a "Old Car" series where you bring back an older car, say 10-15 year old car as a challenge back to new? New cars are a lot easier to maintain like your girlfriends car which is only a year old but I would enjoy seeing you challenge yourself with a neglected older car. Thanks for Oz.

    Pan, quite late to reply but this was incredibly helpful. I have always been nervous about cleaning the engine bay on my new cars, but I took the leap of faith. My truck gets rustproofing oil treatment every year, so the grime was severe. I figured it was time to reset and start fresh - and wow! It was quick, easy, and painless. I must say, the KC products you recommended were top tier. Many thanks from over here in the prairies.

    Great video as always. Still I'm not sure that using the pressure washer is safe. Instead I always use a couple of brushes and microfiber towels to do the job. It takes a bit more time but i think it safer that way and preventing any risk caused by water getting to some electrical parts, etc.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 года назад +26

      You do as you wish. I have pretty much always used a pressure washer and never once had any issue or feedback afterwards that something went wrong. Again, common sense. Also, a pressure washer uses less water compared to a garden hose. So although it seems like you're using a lot of water, you're actually using way less compared to a regular garden hose setup.

    • @CageyLeigh
      @CageyLeigh 2 года назад

      @@PanTheOrganizer LOL. Ivan is using a $20 garden hose that uses more water, while you’re using a $1500 pressure washer that uses less water. Ivan has saved himself a lot of money by using a little bit more water. Go Ivan.

    • @g.christopherlyn685
      @g.christopherlyn685 2 года назад +4

      Actually it’s quite safe to use the pressure washer if you are using common sense, staying below 2000 psi, and always keep the sprayer moving as Pan says. Dealers use it and professional detailers have been using pressure washers for a long time now.

    • @k1sfd1974
      @k1sfd1974 2 года назад +3

      If water getting into the engine bay was an issue, we’d have issues every time it rains or we run through standing water. The only issue I can see is if you get too close with a pressure washer. If you use a fan spray and stay at a sufficient distance, you’ll use much less water with a pressure washer than a garden hose. However; like Pan said: you do you.
      Edited for spelling

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  11 месяцев назад +1

      You just have to be more careful, and perhaps use a garden hose in that situation, instead of a pressure washer. Cover any exposed electronics like the main computer, or alternator, or fuse box. Don't focus the stream of water on the same spot for many seconds. Keep the wand moving and sweeping across the engine bay.
      Or, you could avoid using water altogether, by just purchasing a waterless wash type product. Spray that liberally all around the engine bay, and use detailing brushes to agitate, and then mop up and wipe with old microfiber towels. And that should still get you a very good result. Here's a quality waterless wash that will work super well: bit.ly/4bFYfRD
      Or this alternative from Amazon: amzn.to/4bLFL24

      Thanks Chris! It was nice seeing you at SEMA too! It was a crazy four days but so fun! Is there anything that stood out for you at the show? I will have a full recap video coming soon.

      @@PanTheOrganizer it was my 4th time going this year. Meeting YOU and others people in the industry is what stood out to me. Sometimes it’s very similar year to year. But the people you meet and see at the show is the best. Fun to be walking around and stop and look and see some one and think…wait is that so and so.

    Jeeze Pan, thanks for reminding me how dirty my engine bays are, lol. Videos like these help in making me feel more confident in cleaning them for the first time. My daily driver looks like a natural disaster under the hood compared to this one. There are a few ones out there that are a huge fan of Hyper Dressing but I've only used KCx Motorplast on wheel well plastics and was blown away! That engine bay looked fantastic but honestly I would have misted distilled water on the black plastics before using the dressing though.

    Hello Paaaaann !!!
    Super vidéo pour le compartiment moteur !
    J'ai justement une anecdote de cette semaine : nous avons eu un organisme du gouvernement qui propose de contrôler des points de sécurité sur les véhicules des salariés de notre entreprise... Près de 2500-3000 tout de même. Arrivé à mon tour ils ouvrent le capot, et je demande ce qu'ils en pensent ? Ils avaient les yeux grands ouverts ! Le plus propre qu'il aient pu voir. 😎

    Great video! One tip from other mechanics is to spray the rubber hoses and boots around/under the engine with the protectant. That keeps your CV joints and heater hoses from cracking prematurely.

    This makes me feel better. I’m nervous a little bit because my engine is pretty exposed and I didn’t want to mess up anything. I was also nervous about water near headlight connectors. I’m going to start small and do it until I feel way more comfortable.
    As well, I’m going to by that mini blower with heat that should save me a ton
