For most of the video, the gap at the A-pillar is very big. At 11:06 and 11:29 they show some shots of high and low mount (taken later I assume). They must have fixed it by then. It would be nice to know what they did to fix it.
Thank you for a great explicative video. It will be useful when I will install my Rugged Ridge snorkel. One question, the upper cowl panel (top left) does not appear to be snug to me. I hope that Rugged Ridge will remedy this issue prior to shipping the units. Will you mention this to RR? Thank you!
Last year the cowl piece looked like it was made of steel(or stiffer plastic) for a better gap fit, and was painted..Looked much tighter, and OEM than the one shown on video.......
Even with the issues the fact that you don't need to cut a hole in your hood or have 8 miles a piping make this a good option. If the made one for a JK I would seriously consider it.
In a way I understand why they didnt do any supports for the upper snorkel. The issue I have with the Mopar is that you cannot put the windshield down. This lets you remove the high snorkel and ride with shield down still using only the lower snorkel. Smart thinking! However, it looks insanely cheap. Wish they used better abs plastic or even carbon fiber.
1.) What type of paint should I use to paint the low mount grill? 2.) Like a lot of folks have commented... those cowl gaps have me thinking twice about pre-ordering.
I'm on the market for a snorkel for my 2020 JL. Not sure I'd ever want to use the low mount kit by itself. Its a good way for water/mud to splash through the opening and into the engine. The high mount looks awesome, doesn't cover up hood decal. :)
Best regards from Italy Florence a question about the snorkel I see a lot of snorkels on many off road vehicles that have the mushroom tube turned towards the rear of the 4x4 off road vehicle and does anyone have the mushroom tube turned towards the front of the 4x4? all terrain vehicle? (and some off-road vehicles, does the 4x4 have a cyclone mushroom like an agricultural or earth-moving machine? Merry Christmas 2023 and happy new year 2024!)
1: the price seems a bit steep but in line with others. 2: the dummy low intake looks stupid when the high intake is installed. They could have made that look better.
The point of the valve is too let water that builds up in the air box out, you should leave it open all the time to let the moisture out. And close it before you are about to cross some deep water
Yea I even think he notices when he installed it himself that the plastic didn't line up and had a gap by the windshield. Alot of water is going to go into that open section.
Ace Calzadilla , right! And further disappointing to see Wayalife’s Recent cover of Sema the other day, And see their snorkel unit again looking a lot more rigid, painted up and looking much more quality
The fit to the A pillar is horrible. Looks like it is bent. Can see that pulling farther away over time. Also saw him kind of push on the whole unit trying to get it to fit properly. Those band clamps appear too circular as well and will put excess pressure on the edges and warp it over time causing leaks.
Hate to say it, but it must be something in his install. If you watch Quadratec's video you can see he has to push the whole thing in before screwing down the hood side bolts. He then went on to color match paint it and it really came out looking good. In case you haven't seen it yet...ruclips.net/video/pAuo0DItcXg/видео.html
I like the way this snorkel looks, better than others I've seen, but DAMN $500.00 for a few plastic pieces of tubing is outrageous. AND having a drain valve on the air box worries me. Why would water be in the air box? Seems counterintuitive. Does it mean these snorkels are prone to sucking in water?
Holy gappage batman! Besides the obvious warped gaps the screws on top of the low-mount ruin the look of the low-mount. Plus I believe the low|mount they showed last rear sat flush with the cowl. I was excited last year about this. But not anymore. Won’t be buying it. It will be at least $200 cheaper in 6 months. $500 is crazy overpriced. No one is going to buy it.
This is what irritates me about Rugged Ridge. They have awesome product designs, but the physical product quality is complete garbage. I stopped buying their stuff back when I had my JK because nothing ever fit properly or lasted long enough. I remember when the powdercoating of their original XHD bumpers would flake off just by simply handling it.
Was anticipating the release of this and even contacted rugged ridge to find out when. Yeah, guess I'll be looking into a River Raider. Much better quality and fitment. I'm really bummed about this.
@@CJBroncoF150 No, it isn't! Look at the cowl piece in your own video! It doesn't line up properly at all towards the top along the door. Typical Rugged Ridge quality.

jamesinkeys Exactly.. this looks bloody awful.

I agree!
Holy crap! @7:32 What is this fancy tool that I've never seen before in my life?!
Its actually a metric plier, very rare.

It looks a lot better if you paint it

Those cowl gaps are a NO GO for me!!
Tell me how you are able to reach the drain plug that you install??
I don't know how is the quality of the materials but the final result is great.
Its built very well, and the end result changes the whole look of the jeep!

Good point, I think the main idea is you can easily take of the high section if you want to be able to drop the windshield.
Doesn’t match up to the A pillar very well

So you keep yours closed all the time?
Wow, been waiting for this since last year. Disappointed to say the least. Looks cheap AF! That body fitment looks terrible.

How do you reach the drain check valve after the air box has been installed?
Under the fender liner you can pull it back and see it!
Lol I want to see you get to that hose to drain the water with out taking it all apart. Easier to just take off the four screws on top ?!
Jk snorkel seems much better than the new one. Just would like that it did not had as much bends as it does....
Do you put the air filter back in the box?
Yes!

Can you still drop the windscreen down once it's installed?
Would love to see a "dummy" cowl for the driverside to even out the look. That would be so awesome!
That would be neat!
What happend if i dont put the drain on the air box??
Excellent video maan thanks
Thanks for watching!
Will this fit on older Jeeps like 2017 four-door?
The factory air intake sucks, can this work with aftermarket ones?
Unfortunately this has been designed for the factory air box.
@@CJBroncoF150 ya, that's what I thought.. Very disappointing. Becpuse I like the out side of it.
I can only install the upper part?
Do they make this for the Gladiator JT Diesel???
How does it work with A-pillar Light bar mount?
Looks interesting. Will this work with Diode Dynamics cowl mount light brackets?
I believe it will, let me take a look!
Is there some kind of support for the upper portion around the top or middle of the snorkel so it doesn’t get knocked around?
Yes there is a rubber bumper that threads into the back of the snorkel which keeps pressure on it!
I wish they made this for the JK
Is it fit for 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL 4 doors ? Thank you
Vien Duong yea its jl 2018 and up
You rock 🤟
why does it need a drain valve? does water go in from the high air intake ?
Driving in the rain??
It can, hence the drain valve to let the water out!
Is there one for the JK?
Yes, just a few different style cues.
www.cjponyparts.com/rugged-ridge-snorkel-intake-kit-modular-xhd-3-6l-jeep-wrangler-jk-2012-2018/p/1775621/
This might be a dumb question... what do you do when it rains? Bag it up? Or is there no concern????
I think that is why he drilled the drain hole
You just let it the way it is! There is a drain hole in the factory airbox if any water gets down through the pipe!
There's also extra weep holes where the upper intake connects to the down tube.
Holy gappage batman!

I come from the future... the price is the same...
Is the cowl paintable?
The Truth yes, check out their SEMA video it looks way better painted.
Yes it is, we're debating on doing that now!

Great video and sweet product but way over priced !!! Especially when the fitment is awful...
Good vid but That’s as ugly as sin.....
looks like a crapy toy
Is it bad driving this Snorkel in the heavy rain???
So how do u access the little valve under the filter box?
