Incredible that on the 14 mile circuit there was someone with a movie camera at the exact point where the crash happened. Also incredible that those brave drivers got him out of that inferno(and that Lauda was back at the wheel 6 weeks later). RIP Niki what a legend
great that the person manning the camera was a great cinematographer too. got great angles, and kept everything in focus. they got clear shots of everyone helping. RIP Niki.
I have never seen this before. Surprisingly high quality footage for Super 8 film. I wish the original footage of the crash itself could be found with this quality.

Today everyone has a "movie camera" what a world we live in.

Very late reply, but surprisingly, every section that had people, a lot had cameras. Just most of the footage was probably lost to time.
Without Arturo Merzario's bravery we would not have been able to enjoy many more years with the legend. R.I.P.
Brett Lunger is the driver who grabbed Lauda by the shoulders and lifted him up, which helped Merzario (finally) unbuckle Lauda's seatbelts.
Merzario said in an interview, he could only undo the belts after Lauda passed out and his body relaxed.
Just think about it. Without Niki there wouldve never been a Mercedes dominance and maybe also never a Lewis Hamilton
Great sportsmanship and respect to rescue him

This is the original footage .
Edit : is it ?
I have found it. In a niki lauda documentary "summa cum lauda" at 12:50
@@mrdude9671 yes I think so
Race in heaven Niki🙏🏼
RIP NIKI
I though niki was a brat but really there is so much bravery in him! He is a star
O melhor piloto do mundo
Those are big cars they were running on an old narrow circuit.
Go back to US
Merzario is the real hero..
Alongside Brett Lunger.
why did you just cut to after the crash
Because the video is about the rescue dumbfuck
Yeah
Fist bumps with luigikid
They probably stopped filming until after the crash. This is clearly filmed by someone that was there and not part of the broadcast.
