    My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
    Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

    It always amazes me how they film them washing themselves, and a lot of the time they don't need to censor it, as their fupa essentially covers their bottom half like a skirt...

      I thought the same thing. I convinced myself that they *HAVE TO* be getting paid a pretty penny. But nope.... they get a measly $1,500 check. Now... the medical intervention and help they recieve is free for being on the show. It's a shame that most of them don't follow through or even appreciate the opportunity given to them.

    • @AuroraRoz
      @AuroraRoz 21 день назад +8

      @@chadkinman327 I agree with you.
      It is quite sad, but I think it is mostly because the show does not care to really address the core issues- psychological/emotional/mental issues.
      If you don't take care of the root cause, it does not matter what you do- you will gain the weight back (or develop another unhealthy habit/addiction like drinking, gambling, drugs, or even go to the other side of the spectrum and develop ED).
      The show gives them the surgery and the extremely expensive aftercare, but I'm not sure how much they invest in good proper therapy (it can take many many sessions to get somewhere).
      I also wish they would insist on a low to no-carb diet (such as keto or carnivore) with no sugar and carbs, as from what I've witnessed so far- it has a very high success rate among many overweight and obese people.

    4,000 calories isn’t contextually “more than half” of what she should be eating, it’s twice as much as what she should be eating. More than half would be between 1,000 and 2,000 calories, contextually speaking.
