My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

I was 160 kg. About 2 years ago, doctors said that you should undergo a bypass. I used to consume two packs of cigarettes a day and 900 grams of sugar with tea. My liver was grade 3 to 4 and the size was 220 mm. Until I decided to lose weight, I had a treadmill that My room is getting dusty. On the first day, I was able to walk for 50 seconds, but I continued. Now my weight is 73 kg, and all my tests are normal, and my liver is normal.

My liver numbers were highly elevated and ultrasound showed inflammation, I drank heavily was overweight and living a sedentary lifestyle wreaking havoc on my health and liver, 6 months no alcohol eating very healthy lost 75 lbs and just walking a mile a day my liver numbers were normal and felt great, the liver is one amazing organ and the only one that can repair itself and even regenerate fatty and damaged tissue with proper care as long as you catch it early, I'm lucky most aren't, keep up the good work 😀

The sad (and frustrating) thing about this show is that most of the people on it are such terrible food addicts (as are their family members) that, even if they lose the great deal of weight, they put the pounds vbck on by stuffing themselves afterwards and stretching the stomach back out again. Very few people succeed long term after a gastric bypass because of their addiction.

I always love reading all of the positive stories in these comments sections. Congrats to everyone that has worked hard and pushed themselves to be strong and lose weight and become healthier people. I'm not overweight (have a dad bod though), but I am a type-1 diabetic and I do understand how hard it can be to struggle with eating properly. I'll say this; it gets easier. Once you get used to the change in lifestyle and the excercise, it becomes normal for you and before you know it, it'll take no extra effort on your part to make the right decisions. Again, congrats to everyone in the comments that are sharing their positive stories. I'm definitely proud of you all!
