    My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
    Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

    Many of us had horrid childhood experiences. It caused food addictions in some. But, once you are an adult, it is time to take the reins and take accountability for what happens next.

      I channeled mine into horses. I had to work to pay for everything. I babysat, fixed bicycles, helped clean a liquor store, and even polished shoes. My horse was my lifesaver. She was always there. I loved the way she smelled. I made a few friends at the stable and we had a lot of fun. As soon as I was 18 and graduated from high school I left and built my own life. It was hard. There were times when I had absolutely no money. Somehow my faith always led me in the right direction and I struggled until I met my husband and had my own family. It is possible to get past the trauma and keep struggling along until you find a way to make a life for yourself.

    I was a group home manager and one of the hardest lessons I had to learn is there are people who are comfortable in their suffering. They get addicted to their script and self pity and no matter how many supports you put in place for them they will stay sick. Cognitive dissonance is real.

    Ok , these patients clearly can’t shop, or cook. So how are they getting this food . Essentially they are prisoners. Why are friends and family feeding them like prized cows? If they really cared, they would cook the right foods , and let the patient scream and cry . Take away money so they can’t buy take out . I mean seriously!!!!
    I don’t get it .

    • @cherrymetha3185
      @cherrymetha3185 2 месяца назад +19

      I agree . However , practically it’s very hard for the relatives . At first the person tries their manipulation tactics , pleading then crying etc . When the person doesn’t get the fattening food they scream and shout . When that doesn’t work they become verbally abusive . The relative has to listen to that abuse day and night . So I can understand why the relatives just give the person the fattening food . I wouldn’t give in and wouldn’t give the person fattening food but as I said I truly understand the relatives who do . (And if they bathe and dress the person , that person can be physically abusive)

      You’re right. This is a mental health issue that’s deeply rooted in other mental health issues. This is so sad to see because she says people are worried yet they enable her behaviour. This type of food addiction hurts everything in their life so it’s really sad. Unfortunately it’s easy to say and think things, but physically going through with it is a different story. It’s clear she doesn’t care as much as she’s leading on.
