My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

If they all ate Patrick’s diet they could support each other, save a ton of money on groceries, and the three of them loose weight.

@TeenyHatHarold I stopped taking opiates 2 years ago and have lost almost 200lbs, unfortunately I think most of it was from chronic pancreatitis I was diagnosed with a year ago. I'm back on opiates and have already ran out early for the month, I think when they give me something stronger it will be easier to stay on track. Good luck getting off, I have done a 3 day rapid detox before in the hospital and left with no withdrawal symptoms at all. The urge was still there but this last I stayed off 2 years, like I said I'm only back on them because of a seriously painful condition. I wish you the best, you can do it one day at a time.

6:37 Thinking about Mark: it is true that super morbidly obese people are unlikely to continue losing weight without bariatric surgery. (Although of course some folks do manage to do so.).
However, people shouldn’t be pressured to get a surgery that they don’t want. That’s a set-up for postoperative problems, and frankly, for a malpractice lawsuit regardless of how well the actual surgery goes. I wouldn’t want to risk that if I were a surgeon, even if I did think it was in the person’s best interest.

I struggled with my weight most of my adult life. My view on food was that of comfort. I ate when I was sad tired stressed happy or angry. When I was 66 years old I was diagnosed with sarcoma in my mandible. I lost 2/3's of my jaw. I lived on a feeding tube for 7 months. After the removal of the tube I tried to eat solid food but I wasn't able to take in enough nutrition. The weight fell off at a frightening rate (71 pounds in 4 months). At that point my perspective on food changed. I needed nutrition to survive, it was no longer a matter of comfort but survival. Treatment had left me weak and food tasted weird. A high calorie liquid diet saved me. Now 3 years later, I am now able to eat some foods and keep a healthy weight. It was a harsh reality check but I'm so grateful to be alive.
