My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss. - Развлечения
I don't know why I watch these... it's a guilty pleasure. Anybody else?
Yes me 😂
Yeah. Been watching since season 2. Still unable to articulate why I love this weird show. It's honestly a mystery. To me!
U are not alone
Not alone
I've gotten to where I look forward to a new video every day
How are all of these "failures"? That guy who lost like 300 pounds was a success...
Yeah.
That is a significance amount of weight!
I’m so proud of Mark. And I’m so happy he tried to do this without the surgery. Its commendable. Surgery is scary and a big deal.
He is definitely a success!
For real. Here I am, struggling to drop 30lb.
I have mad respect for Mark for being the only one to deny a surgery and try to do it on his own.
Me too assuming he followed through. Otherwise it was probably because he was afraid of the surgery. Who knows, I like to think he’s 200 pounds now
But Chris is really the one to be proud of!!
@@polinatalmeltzer450 I'll be honest, I posted that halfway through the video and Chris managed to out do even that! He definitely deserves his props.
I had the surgery and while I feel lucky I had the opportunity, I wish I would have just did it on my own. It changed me in so many ways, I eat so little. It's frustrating to not be able to eat just a little more
Mark needs to go on the carnivore diet
got my exercise bike set up in front of the laptop so i can watch these and pedal like hell, great motivation lol
That’s a great idea 👍
EXACTLY why I watch these. It’s a hell of a weight loss tool!
Honestly, that’s why I watch them. Great motivation tool.
I’ve found my people! I thought I was the only one 😂
This is extremely toxic. Workout but don't watch these people at the same time, it's not moral and before you say "I don't care about morality" know that subconsciously all "good" people care. You should be able to get motivation from people who are better than you, not from people who have hit rock bottom.
I don’t get it . Patrick’s wife is obese, she should have weighed herself too. Daughter is overweight as well.
If they all ate Patrick’s diet they could support each other, save a ton of money on groceries, and the three of them loose weight.
Almost all the families are obese along with the main patient . I’m surprised Dr Now doesn’t mention it.
No one wants to watch that.
He does sometimes mention it
He often does make other family members get on the scales.
He's even done free surgery for some.
Charity's daughter is a good example.
Patrick's daughter isn't overweight. She seems like the ONLY healthy one!
She IS overweight, but your eyes play tricks on you because compared to the Ham Planets she looks semi normal.
I don't understand how they afford to live and buy all that food.
While they are on the show, the show pays for all there food
But who pays for it before they’re on the show?
Usually in some form of disability due to their weight, But this family has an inground pool so probably the family is just supporting him
Disability
@@christinaamis4607 you obviously don’t know how small disability payments are
I believe that these people need counseling BEFORE undertaking their weight loss journey, so many of them have experienced abuse and childhood trauma. It all starts with the brain , not the stomach.
You are absolutely right! Dr.Now actually insist on them going to counseling to get down to the bottom of their trauma. It works for many working on themselves mentally and physically!
And had decades of poor habits and eating just junk food.
I worked at a Bariatric Clinic and ALL of our patients had to be cleared by a psychiatrist.
I definitely agree there should be more mental health support for these patients as its so obvious this is a deeply psychological problem & probably very much rooted in childhood difficulties or trauma :(
Oh just seen the other comment saying the patients usually have to have some kind of counselling so that's good
I understand these people! They are trying to fill a hole in their heart by filling their stomachs! I pray for their success!
I’m not fat but have dealt with opiate addiction for many years. I’m just as bad as these people you just can’t tell by my appearance.
Yes, I feel for any addict.
Having said that, at least food has no physical withdrawals that make you pray for death to make it all end.
I just realized that my comment sounds like an addict comparing their addictions. Introspection time
@TeenyHatHarold I stopped taking opiates 2 years ago and have lost almost 200lbs, unfortunately I think most of it was from chronic pancreatitis I was diagnosed with a year ago. I'm back on opiates and have already ran out early for the month, I think when they give me something stronger it will be easier to stay on track. Good luck getting off, I have done a 3 day rapid detox before in the hospital and left with no withdrawal symptoms at all. The urge was still there but this last I stayed off 2 years, like I said I'm only back on them because of a seriously painful condition. I wish you the best, you can do it one day at a time.
Why can’t Chris play Checkers with his daughter? It’s the Board Game right? If he can sit at the table to eat, he can sit there & play checkers with his daughter.
Getting on the floor I guess but yeah you could just do it at the table
Priorities. He doesn't feel like playing with the kid. It can be mentally draining....even if it is just checkers.
Can't believe Mark was riding a bike that is so awesome
Ya, I was kinda waiting to see if the bike snap in half. Is that mean.
@@charlie557 it is definitely mean! I’m mean too apparently
I can barely ride a bike and im 1/4 his size.
@@SylvanasWindrunnerResurrected me too
that was crazy riding a bike with 700 pounds lol
Food is another addiction, like alcohol, smoking, drugs, anorexia nervosa, bulimia and many more. Please don't judge unless you've walked in their shoes. It's easier to show kindness than disgrace
❤❤
Exactly... 😖
This is so true! I appreciate you mentioning eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, no one really talks about how they can become addictive as well due to being in "control"
Food addiction is actually harder as you have to eat 3 times a day so there’s constantly food around. 😢
Amen
I think their grocery bill would give us all a huge sticker shock! It makes me curious what their weekly grocery bill is!
Doesnt matter cause big uncle Sam foots that bill for most
Yeah I think a lot of them support their habit with a disability check
The breakfast burritos are crazy. They look like I would struggle to finish one and he ate 12 in one sitting!? That looked like the beginning of a competition eating contest but with just one guy.
That bowl of spaghetti was lethal too omg
It's so vile.
When I was in the hospital a few years ago for a life threatening illness, they pumped so much saline water in me that it made me gain a lot. I could barely move or even walk. I honestly don't know how these people 600 lbs can move at all. I pray for all of them. Nobody wants to be that overweight on purpose. We all have emotions and feelings and I wish these people the best..
I'm 15 & a half stone, i used to be 17 & a half. & even being that size was/is really hard work like getting around. How anyone larger than me can get about I can't imagine how hard that must be.
Allie, keep pushing forward, you got this! Good for you for working hard and losing weight!
@@1tarawho thank you 😊
🎯🎯🎯
I see what you're saying, but you don't get to that weight by accident either!
Its so insanely hard to lose weight. My weights been up and down my whole adult life. When i track and document my intake, i obsess about it and it takes up a lot of my thoughts.
It’s a lot of emotional work and not everyone can handle it.
Very true
I always am in disbelief with the amount of food these people eat. Like 12 breakfast burritos and a whole pot of bacon or Patrick making waffle and sausage sandwiches (about 12 waffles worth) and then dunking them in maple syrup , it just doesn't seem all that food would fit in them.
Why even eat breakfast food...they could have weigh less if they eat pizza only😂😂
Your stomach stretches when you regularly eat too much, and along with that the bad diet and eating style means you dont get the signals of fullness or satisfaction. A vicious cycle!
Very true. That's why they still feel hungry even after those phenomenal amounts of food.@@NMaxne
I don’t know how they afford it, how on earth can you afford to eat what a family of four eat everyday 🤷♀️
true their stomachs (the actual organ) must be insanely huge. must be 2-3x the size of a normal persons, not including how much more it could probably stretch lol
1600 nuggets ? Got dang. I can barely stand 20
How do they eat that much without vomiting?
Their stomachs are stretched out
I have known many people who have had gastric surgery, ĺost a lot of weight, and then gained most of it back. They stretch that little pouch out to accommodate the amounts of food they eat.
Practice
Their stomaches are stretched big by all the eating...that's why
6:37 Thinking about Mark: it is true that super morbidly obese people are unlikely to continue losing weight without bariatric surgery. (Although of course some folks do manage to do so.).
However, people shouldn’t be pressured to get a surgery that they don’t want. That’s a set-up for postoperative problems, and frankly, for a malpractice lawsuit regardless of how well the actual surgery goes. I wouldn’t want to risk that if I were a surgeon, even if I did think it was in the person’s best interest.
🎯🎯🎯
He lost weight without surgery.
I'm so happy for Chris 🎉
Marla’s cheekiness is embarrassing. She should be ashamed of her behaviour with the time & energy people have invested in to her…..
I'm sorry but these people need to get a hobby other than eating. Anything to help keep their hands and minds busy so they aren’t constantly thinking about food 24/7. I know having hobbies has helped me with my weight loss so far. Sure I have periods where I have set backs but I don't let myself get stuck in those ruts. I gotta get back on track as I've been dealing with some health issues and I gained a bit of weight back. I refuse to let myself gain anymore back and I'm gonna work to get back down to what I was last month and get back on track.
Ok Judge Judy
Not sure I'd call Mark a failure at all. Guy is motivated to work it on his own, and perhaps he is simply more afraid of surgery than anything. Which is normal. Keep pushing, Mark. And when it gets tough, push harder
I watch these to help me become aware what my own future can be like if I live on excuses... if i give up. I have about 70pds to loose as I am dealing with my own trauma in feeling afraid to loose weight. Therapy is most deffinilty an important part to this progress..
U can do it!!!! Keep watching! I watch these to get my final 15. I'm down 80. I also started intermittent fasting for 8 months at a time, maintaining Mt weight, to attack loose skin. It's working and I no longer eat at night EVER. Feels awful to do so. So hang in there, Johanna. U got this!!!❤
I had a friend who gained a lot of weight after I hadn't seen her in a while. I asked her "what happened? " she said she did it so men wouldn't hit on her. She used to be really pretty. I hope you face your fears and become the person you want to be. 🎉
Why are you afraid?
@bidensdiaper394 truly encouraging 😊
@@rt66vintage16 ❤️ 💜
I could be wrong, but I don’t think Dr. now ever ever ever ever told any of his patients to go five days on nothing but water and vitamins. I think there was another patient who tried to do something like that and she got really sick.
He'd never tell a patient to do that!
No, he would not. That's not healthy and not smart.
@@suzannejohnson9109 exactly
Well not for people who are morbidly obese... 😂 Obviously!
But yeah, fasting is a VITAL part of weightloss. It's good for people who just want to be healthier!
@suzannejohnson9109 how is not eating 5 days unhealthy. It's call fasting and these people have the stored calories to do so easier than most people.
Its not that his dad is negative. Its him getting ready to lose his son, and his way of dealing with the hurt of that possibility
When I watch the program I try to eat a meal, especially when the patient eats from a plate on their stomach or chest . After watching them eat I usually only eat 1/2 of my meal. It works .
🤔 .... wow.... that's really good. A reality check sets in. Nice. Past few days I've been watching these and my appetite just went down to nothing. I ate some pretzels despite not feeling hungry. I stopped. But I'm going to keep watching these because it unexpectedly seemed to have been helping me to stay in the world of reality. I have 60pds left to loose. I'm telling myself to be grateful that is all I have to loose, so get it done ! 😊
I liked mark. Definitely one of the most motivated people on the show.
Chris is a really intelligent person. I hope he’s doing great. 250 pounds lost, no weight loss surgery. Just an incredible feeling to see that. Good job to him.
Marla is just a spoiled child. Her daughter should have just left her alone. Never reward immature, lazy, baby behavior.
Marla lost the weight and is a motivational speaker! So cool.
Dr Now is a saint for treating Marla like that!
Yes, he is almost like an angel.
Ikr. Getting all snippy with him. He's very patient.
Not for her child who is very fat too... he let her do all the work. In this country she would be taken out of that house away from her mother who is abusing her in a terrible way. Learn that kid what 'normal' looks like and help that kid eat normal. And loose weight!
Marla is so infuriating...all the help given and she's turning her nose up 🙄😤
Chris, congratulations on your weight loss. You do not have all the excuses like the others. Keep going Chris. Blessings.
Watching Mark eat for a large family every serving makes me feel ill. Those burrito's! There's a lot of mental issues here. He knows what he needs to do, he says the right things, but then does something else. You don't need a diet sheet to know you shouldn't be eating your meal from a mixing bowl. Mark's likeable, but damn.
That's the most I've ever seen someone eat on here.
Dr. Now needs to tell his patients NO MORE FAST FOOD OR SODA POP!!!!
He does.
You think he doesn’t!?! 😂
He cover's it all you won't always see it on the show, even the counselling yet some of them refuse to listen, or do as they're ask..These folks can be really negative..
I was told that if you ate a sugar and then a diet sodie, that it cancels out the sugar.
@@krytietv1684😂😂😂😂 Oh, if only that was true
Watching these instead of eating
a great respect to Chris!
He said I'm sure turkey bacon an eggs are not on the diet. yes they are lol
I said the same thing! They’re a great source of protein and fit into the low to no carb program he puts them on.
Low carb with no fast food or soda is a great way to lose weight.
Turkey bacon yes, but maybe boil the egg instead of scrambling? I’m guessing because that is considered to be fried eggs.
@@Lipstickandchampagne it is not considered to be fried eggs, what do you mean? I’ve never heard anyone say that. Frying an egg would only be an issue if you did it in a bunch of butter or oil anyway. Calories from a quick shot of no stick spray would be negligible.
@@Alicia-Rene I am not sure if you need to get out more or if you’re really young, but scrambled or even sunny side up is considered a “fried” egg. It does not matter if you use butter or cooking spray. It requires a fat or an oil with heat to get the final result. Unlike poached or boiled eggs, which only require hot water at boiling temperatures.
It is so amazing how much our bodies can eat withhout exploding..
Man , that is a strong ass bike
It doesn’t show the massive amount of pain killers the bike took prior to shooting that scene.
I like to watch this show to keep me motivated as I am doing intermittent fasting to lose 20 pounds
Chris is awesome..... MVP in the show.
how do they poop...if they cant move on the bed. do they just crap themselves and let their kids clean them....gross... poor kids have no life because of marlas gluttony
Her kids are in bigger side too I’m blaming her bad life style
That's vile.
Dr Now gets pissed but he's often very patient & kind when they need it
Good job for Chris sticking to his goals😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I payed myself the gift of gastric bypass at a private hospital. The same day they had me walking. I was not like Marla but she’s not even trying… oh and Dr.Now 👌
It’s simply physics!!!
These people eat more than they move!!!
This takes decades!!! To get this big.
Start keeping busy, ever one of these people, lifestyle, of sitting on couch, boredom makes them eat.
The money the second guy spends on fast food is incredible. Then to be able to eat all that, incredible. I never see any of these people go to work, then they quickly pick up and move to Houston. A lot of money flying around out there.
I love watching these as motivation to ⭐️ve. It works sooo well
Watching this keeps me motivated to hit the gym.
whenever I watch these videos, I hop up and start doing jumping jacks.
Good ideal, I will start NOW
I googled Marla and she’s a knock out! She’s finally done the work.
Her poor daughter having to deal with that extra big brat! 😂😂
They have a swimming pool of their OWN, and yet he just stupidly keeps eating and doesn't do any water exercises?
Right. I saw that pool and thought the same.
I came here to make the same comment. Swimming is easy on the joints and a full body workout.
@@daneenh5348and it’s really fun!
Same
No equipment to get him out once he gets in.
Chris here sir>>>>>>>>🏆good stuff hope you continue your journey
Uhm.... Sierra needs to step on a scale as well.
She needs help from psycholog. She has no her life and she eats "the problems". Probably she feels helpless with both.
Hey hey! Found you from Sean Of Steel and am loving your vids! New sub here🎉
10:42 I'll have two number 9s. A number 9 large. A number 6 with extra dip. A number 7. Two number 45s, one with cheese, and a large soda. 🤣🤣
I thought hes going to do it
Good luck, Mark! Oh, Chris, you eat far too much! I really detest the whining from drama queens, so selfish!
I want to know how they afford all that food. None of them seem wealthy enough to spend a ton of money on groceries. It's expensive to just buy a normal amount of food.
Welfare and food stamps. Also the show pays for some of the food apparently
@@veronicavatter6436 You can get delivery on food stamps now? Most of them order in or get fast food. I guess they use their government money for that part. Jeezus! I could probably pay my rent and all my other bills with just their grocery money.
618lb.s and can ride a bike! What kind of bike is that ? !
Marla's daughter has a weight issue herself.
Dr. Now's diet is high protein and low carbs so I would think that foods like grilled meats and eggs and turkey bacon would be ideal. Just throwing that out there.
Yes! The narrator and many of those commenting seem ignorant to this. No wonder so many people are overweight!
Marla’s depression is obvious 😢
I am so proud of you Chris. My son’s name is Chris so I’m kinda partial to you because of that. But not only you haven’t disappointed me but you haven’t disappointed yourself and that the means more than anything. So don’t let yourself and that beautiful daughter of yours down. I wish you all the best
Peace from this Texan
Mark had a great attitude and is a success for his effort and endurance! Good for him.
The excuse that healthy food is more expensive than processed food is so played out because ordering takeout and eating snacks cost than eating rice and chicken.
I'm using these videos as a backdrop for workouts. Mad motivation!
Don't mess with Dr. Now!
Yeah
😁👍👍👍 He is almost like an angel! 🤯
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊Thank you very much for the information. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
If you are the one getting everything for someone then you need to tell them that when they get hungry enough they will try. I would tell her that if she wants to not be covered in poop then she will try to get to the toilet. This is enabling at its finest.
It just makes me feel better about myself. All that food is ridiculous
So are drugs and alcohol. What's yr point?
I swear when dr now say 1200 cal diet every patient must think that’s per meal not per day
Who can afford all this food!?!?!?
That's usually what's on sale. It's more expensive to eat healthy.
He is motivated and understands that there isnt a easy way to lose weight, it requires work n discipline
Well done Chris..xx
So glad for Marla to see her smile. She has some family and she’s blessed there. I need to remember that.. it helps but I think now cares also. And these people look to him for support and he gives it to them. He helps them. I’ve been a doctors that don’t know anything and some doctors. Don’t care. Dr. is not like that. He is a caring doctor.
Riding a bike at 600lbs is impressive! Not only for him but also for the bike.
That was not a cup of jello, that was a punchbowl full of jello.
He doesn’t want to move to Houston because then mama wouldn’t be there to be his maid and cook. It’s about time Mark took care of himself, no?
If I Was EVER In Marla's Daughters Shoes I'd Be Packing Up & Walking Out, Then Marla Would Have No CHOICE But To Do Everything On Her Own....
Don't Get Me Wrong I'd Still Come 3 Times A Day To Check In On Her But I Wouldn’t Wait On Her Hand & Foot Nor Would I Be Getting ANYTHING For Her....
I'd Also Call A Few Times A Day To Do A Check On Her....
I'd Also Spend The Money For 1 Of Those Machines That Hang On Ones Neck Just In Case She Did Fall & Couldn't Get Up, All She'd Have To Do Is Push A Button That Alerts The EMS & Myself..
Crash diets are hard, believe me, but you will be surprised how much of a difference that cutting out a sugary drink makes.
How do they afford all that food especially when he doesn't work?
Either EBT or working family members who will gladly pick up the grocery tab/fast food tab to continue the enabling.
I struggled with my weight most of my adult life. My view on food was that of comfort. I ate when I was sad tired stressed happy or angry. When I was 66 years old I was diagnosed with sarcoma in my mandible. I lost 2/3's of my jaw. I lived on a feeding tube for 7 months. After the removal of the tube I tried to eat solid food but I wasn't able to take in enough nutrition. The weight fell off at a frightening rate (71 pounds in 4 months). At that point my perspective on food changed. I needed nutrition to survive, it was no longer a matter of comfort but survival. Treatment had left me weak and food tasted weird. A high calorie liquid diet saved me. Now 3 years later, I am now able to eat some foods and keep a healthy weight. It was a harsh reality check but I'm so grateful to be alive.
No surgery isn't even bad. I've had many surgeries, and I don't fear them at all. I get up and move around to feel better and it works. Unless I'm told to stay for a few days . No excuse to want to better yourself
Dear narrator- turkey bacon and eggs are EXACTLY what low carb high protein diets are about😂 You should really do a little reading about it before making those comments, lol❤
Oh my goodness I have never seen the one with Chris and I was very skeptical when he said he was not going to do the surgery but he's doing very well why is he in the failure video but I'm not finished yet😮😮😮
Sierra should follow Dr. Now's adbice and quit doing everything for Marla. She likes being a victim
I was born in 1970, there were very few overweight people and certainly I never saw anyone at these sort of sizes. My question is, why were there no binge eating disorders/addiction to food back then ? The only thing that has changed is that food has become fast and cheap and a lack of home economics in school educating children in food prep and nutrition. I watched a documentary from the US and they said obesity is a disease, what the hell ?!
I think you hit the nail on the head! I’m about the same age and we hardly ever ate out. I think maybe once a month my family had enough money to get some fried chicken - but everyone got one piece. Like one drumstick and some corn with a half a biscuit. A “family meal” was split between 2 parents and 2-4 kids. These people eat that much in one sitting and I have no idea how they can afford to eat like this! I’m watching this while people are starving in many countries. It’s disgraceful.
I blame the gmo's and Monsanto. We've had refined sugar and fast food for decades before.
People eat plates and plates of pasta in Italy and don't gain a pound. They come back to the u.s. and the weight gain is crazy! On the same foods too.
Even foreigners that come here and watch their weight and calories say they have a profoundly harder time keeping weight off than in their home country.
Plus kids dont play outside anymore. Its all screens. Theyre not active, live on junk food, sugar, processed food.
Great Topic 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Marks decision is correct. This surgery is a huge irreversable change to your body. He is motivated, he can do it without the surgery. It's so odd that americans constantly push for this surgery. You'd never see patients being pushed into weight loss surgery this quickly in Europe. I'm guessing this Dr. Now guy makes quite alot of money with every surgery.
Mark just needed a support system, being alone is his Achilles heel
Atta boy Chris! Glad to see success on these shows without the surgery.
What do people eat to get this huge?? Just baffling.
Kudos to mark and Chris for opting out of surgery. Thats dedication. ❤ I hope they're still doing well.
Moving to Huston is very life changing I do understand
It makes me feel not so bad about my obsession of my eating. I only weight 57.8 kilos yet l feel fat. I have nothing to complain about. Just depressed.
I know how u feel, wishing you happy days ahead. One day at a time .
Rubbish
Why in thee entire west side of hell did he have a family serving size amount of spaghetti 🍝 I thought it was for the family my gosh that way too much🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
I will never understand a 1200 calorie diet for people who eat 3 times that much each sitting!!
That’s the point… they’re overeating by 5 - 10 times. Eating 1200 calories is an average persons intake. These people need rapid weight loss.
@@EllePolenah 1200 is what normal people eat on a diet
I watch out of sheer fascination of why people do this to their bodies.I am sorry if they have difficulties when they are young, but have some respect for yourselves when you are older.

He shot only two officers?
