    My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
    Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

    Note for video makers: not everyone in scrubs is a healthcare professional. Latonya had hired caretakers, they're not allowed to say no to food requests. Patients are allowed to make their own food choices, even when they're destructive

      @@jillijane9793OP literally said that she’s not automatically a health care professional just because she’s in scrubs and works as a caretaker. Being given food by a certified doctor/nurse at a medical facility is completely different from requesting food, in your own home, from a caretaker that you personally pay for.

    • @EspressoStreams
      @EspressoStreams 11 дней назад +1

      @@AnimeRunnerUp This is correct. I worked as an in-home caregiver for.. a bit. Ended badly because I refused to put up with the patient after some stuff went sideways. Regardless, you are required to get what they want. It is their home, their request. You do what you're told. You're basically a butler for their asks in things related to their requirements.
      My former employer took that to mean sexual as well. I walked out.

      It’s true. Unless the person is a child, you can’t just refuse them the food they want. It’s about autonomy and free choice. It’s a slippery slope, to start making decisions for the disabled person. Plus, a disabled person can make a caregiver’s life very difficult. It gets to the point where it’s not worth it. You get them what they want to avoid the misery.

    Lack of vitamin D from absolutely no exposure to the sun or even just daylight is part of the problem imo.

    • @DroneStrike1776
      @DroneStrike1776 3 месяца назад +8

      Here in New England, vitamin D deficiency it's a common thing. We're so north that the sun never breaks the horizon half the year to send UV B photon that is needed to produce vitamin D. I had vitamin D deficiency before, it was so low that it was dangerous levels. My muscles were aching, I felt sluggish, I felt weak, and depressed. It's why New Englanders are so miserable in the winters. I have to take V-D gummies daily in the colder seasons. When I forget to take it a few days, I can feel my mood start switching. My doctor even said that you can lay naked on a beach and still not got any vitamin D during the winter. It's pitch black by 4:30pm in the winter.

    • @emj7336
      @emj7336 2 месяца назад +1

      There were studies done into that, since low vitamin D was seen to be correlated with many types of poor health. Unfortunately, supplementation doesn't seem to help, it just seems that vitamin D deficiency is an indicator of frailty, and resolving it doesn't help as much as we would have liked.

    • @sitara2783
      @sitara2783 Месяц назад +4

      It definitely doesn't help. A few years ago I would get home from work, crash, wake up, go to work, rinse and repeat. Then my husband shoved a vitamin D gummy down my throat and while I was still depressed, I finally got some energy back. Perhaps as a part of treatment, vitamin D supplements would be a good thing?

    As much as I understand that Chay is empowered and strengthened by having people that care about him and "cheer him on" before an Addict can kick their addiction they have to be ready to kick it and change, and it has to be for yourself. Trying to do it for someone else rarely leads to recovery. Speaking from personal, first hand experience here but still just my opinion.
