One thing I do notice is the fact that when they eat they take large mouths full and they hardly chew. They in hale their food instead of tasting it. I feel sorry for Dottie's little boy Daniel. I believe he passed away later on. Sad.
The faster you eat the more you tend to eat. They’ve probably programmed themselves to eat fast so they can stuff more down (not that any of them seem to know when they’re full). It’s a thing of: I want to finish my plate, I shouldn’t be able to finish it but if I eat fast I can make it.
@@SteffiHenri1992they eat more because their stomachs are stretched out so they don’t feel full anymore. That’s what the surgery is literally for. It has nothing to do with speed of eating for these people.
That is true and they eat huge pieces of food. We watched a young woman in the window as we stood in line waiting to go in. She had 3 large plate-size pancakes and she cut them in fourths and used her left hand to force that huge piece in her mouth. Everyone in line was commenting on how she was eating. She was probably close to 400 lbs. I don’t know how she kept from choking. She chewed maybe 3 or 4 times. Something is wrong with their thinking to not realize that the amount and speed of eating is why they are fat/obese.
I was almost 300lbs and had weight loss surgery 9 months ago I am now 180lbs and feel great. I had a problem with overeating, it’s a lifestyle change that most people don’t want to do. I can not thank my surgeon and clinic enough giving me my life back.
Much respect but i find your reaction a bit contradictive. "Its a life style change most dont want to do" You lost weight because of weight loss surgery and again much respect but you obviously had to resort to that option so did you change your life style prior to weight loss surgery?
You know props to Dottie for not only able to carry her weight but also her 12 year old son. It will not be seen, but she must have some strong muscles.
Her son expired just a year later, his body giving out from the health issues he had. She took very good care of him, though it took quite a toll on her own body. Nonetheless, she was a super good mother to him, and she loved him with everything she had in her.
Every single person on this show acts like they have the most stressful life. They don’t ever have to go to work and they always seem to have such loving significant others and family. I think they are really so lucky and fortunate.
I was in the hospital due to a stroke. I'm nowhere near overweight and I'm not demanding. I never touched the call button the whole time I was in the hospital. Yet I had one nurse that was incredibly mean to me whenever she came into my room. I imagine she was used to patients like Steven and was sick of them. I guess she felt she could take her frustrations out on me. It was a horrible experience for me.
No. Unfortunately some nurses are just like that and the occasional bad patient is no excuse. I’m sorry you had that experience. Please don’t make excuses for that behavior. It’s wildly unprofessional and it’s unacceptable.
I’ve had Five spinal surgeries and have had fabulous nurses each time except one night. I am two days post op with a spinal fusion. I had slipped down in my bed and had to be pulled back into place. Two nurses grabbed me under my arms and jerked me up. Needless the pain was unbearable and I did scream. No sorry nothing. But that was the only time I had poor nursing . Most are incredible at their job and I am thankful for each and every one of them.
I’m sorry this happened to you. Even if she has dealt with patients like you it’s not right for her to treat anyone badly at their vulnerable moments like being in the hospital. ❤
Steven has figured out that just saying the words, "I'm sorry" is a magic formula that makes good people feel like they have to jump and forgive. They shouldn't feel that way because he's a psychopath, which is like a robot mentally. There's no humanity there.
Honestly, it's no excuse. I've read articles about people who found out they were psychopaths (I suppose there's levels), and while they may have been ruthless people, they could function and respect others. Even listened to a testimony of a man who was really awful and ended up in jail, but learned to become an appropriate member of society. He got married and has kids, and sounds like he is able to be a good father and husband. You can be responsible, while having issues. I guess I'm lucky not to have this issue myself, but it is possible not to act this way.
Yeah that dude needed stuck out on the street and forced to work for once in his life or go hungry, IF someone would have done that for him long ago he wouldn't be where he is today, this guy reminds me of my Wife's brother, moochin off the parents and won't work to save his own life.
There's something absolutely disgusting about someone weighing 500lbs shovelling food into their mouth as fast as they can. But even worse is the enabler who feeds their addiction.
Nobody works for Steven. He’s a charity case. Talk about somebody abusing the system. He’s never worked a day in his life. He never pays for anything but thinks he’s entitled to everything.
I think people confuse the challenge of behavior change with lack of time. I'm guilty of that too. That's why I am watching this while slowly working on a class project due tonight, lol. The only difference is their life depends on the change. They need to find coping mechanisms aside from food.
Must be hard doing anything when your busy doing nothing! 😅😅. She needs to realise that the healthy bowl of chicken salad, compared to her ' 6 person set menu' size unhealthy meal, would save her alot of time in her 'busy' doing nothing schedule!
I don't understand people like Freddy. I spent a good chunk of my life taking care of various family members. I always followed the doctor's instructions because I wanted them to be healthy as much as possible. The exception was one of my Grandpas. Once he was terminal and hospice, I gave him whatever he wanted. He was 96 and frail as f. 😔
Even with the Weight loss surgery , they still have to watch what they eat or they will get fat again. I would like to know how many gain it all back again.
"When she's out of breath, I wish I could take mine and give it to her." Its crazy when someone is able to convey how they feel so strongly. I felt that :(
Praying for u my nephew is at rehab rn I had to kick him out cuz he was doing drugs in my home and I’m a recovering addict myself so I don’t want to see it don’t want that around me cuz I don’t want to go back to that lifestyle
@@SueP-D Exactly! He's a good man. He holds down a full-time job and helps her with the kids (see him go for the 1 year old when she was dealing with the cerebral palsy kid?) when he can. He married her even tho she was overweight and already had a child with severe health problems...that's a rare good man.
I am way overweight. Not as much as these ladies, but still a lot. I struggle to lose weight because I gett so hungry, I am lightheaded. I finally found something that works. Maybe this can help someone else. I am not eating bread, and I walk as much as I can. I started eating oranges and for my carb craving, popcorn. Of course a healthy dinner and I stay as busy as possible. Good luck ladies. Don't give up.
Honestly what helped me to lose weight was just to power through hunger. Like, can you not control yourself? When you were in school you had not to eat for at least 4-5 hours at a time. Is it that difficult now?
I'm a nurse and when I get pt like this I tell them I won't come to answer the bell for at least 30 minutes and I am going to ignore it. Tell me everything you need now.
Dotties husband may be the best husband Ive ever seen on these programs. Because she really looks after her self, so hes not a total enabler. And when he said about the breathing, even I teared up, he obviously really loves her.
I'm working out a lot but I've never been even overweight, not obese. Funnily enough I have to stuff my face out to gain weight. I hardly eat about 3500 calories a day (for reference my weight is 65 kg, 143 lb) and I spend about 10 to 12 hours in the gym. I wonder how they devour that much food. If their nutrition was optimal, they would never starve to death not eating 100 cheeseburgers a day.
At Dottie's size...how in the heck did she conceive a baby?!?! That poor child :(:(:( And why is she doing all of the driving?! No seat belt - seat all the way down behind her - where are the police in this picture?!
I feel bad for Dottie. But she doesn’t do anything to better her eating. And the way she kept saying “they need their MOMMA” drove me crazy during her episode.
It had to have been humiliating for her not to be able to get through that door. You would think that would be a wake up call but when people aren’t well, it can take more than that to motivate themselves.
@@mynameiseve.1 no it does not, the child was not having any stimulation and may have been in chronic pain and unable to communicate that or any other needs he may have had

Had a neighbor who would smoke cigarettes next to her husband that was terminal and on O2. She comes outside one day to tell me I can’t smoke in my backyard because her husband is on O2 and I’m putting him in danger..she had a lit cigarette in her hand.
It's amazing, right? The shoveling part? Sometimes it seems like they don't even come up for air between bites. You'd think they hadn't had food for 7 weeks and are afraid they won't get food again anytime soon.
I never know how these people afford to live like this. Dr. Now said someone would have to consume 30,000 cal a day to be that size. That is equal to about 60 burgers a day!! HOWWW
Not even just that but how do you eat 60 burgers and not throw up after every 5. I struggle to finish one its so greasy and unhealthy. They must feel sick all the time
Food stamps does not pay for fast food, hot food, delivery, or alcohol. The most $ you'll get monthly is $200./head of household and $100-$200. for each additional dependent child. These people are easily eating $200. worth of food everyDAY, not every month. Also, if they are getting Social Security Disability (highly likely), the Disability payments are reduced by the amount of Food Stamps that are given.
She was so "lovely" that she blamed her children for her weight🙄 she said every "right" word but couldn't do any change on her own, even though her AND her children's life depended on it. Right? It was when she was in the hospital and monitored that she was successful. But I'm happy she finally came around. And I believe Dr. Now, he was a bit nicer to her because of her situation with her children. Someone else had to show they could make the right decisions on their own. And she showed none of that, so she should be very thankful for Dr. Now

One thing I do notice is the fact that when they eat they take large mouths full and they hardly chew. They in hale their food instead of tasting it. I feel sorry for Dottie's little boy Daniel. I believe he passed away later on. Sad.
He is, but he is enabling his wife.
Dogs eat like that.

@@jb6712 I am sad to hear this 🥺. Poor little guy.
Every single person on this show acts like they have the most stressful life. They don’t ever have to go to work and they always seem to have such loving significant others and family. I think they are really so lucky and fortunate.
It’s actually fortunate that most of us don’t have loving enablers so we aren’t able to indulge in food addictions.
I'm sorry. I never use the call button either.
I’m sorry this happened to you. Even if she has dealt with patients like you it’s not right for her to treat anyone badly at their vulnerable moments like being in the hospital. ❤
Diane, it sounds like that nurse hates her job and takes it out on the patients.
He acts just like a classic narcissist. Someone with NPD. They love playing the victim.

I think people confuse the challenge of behavior change with lack of time. I'm guilty of that too. That's why I am watching this while slowly working on a class project due tonight, lol. The only difference is their life depends on the change. They need to find coping mechanisms aside from food.

Honestly what helped me to lose weight was just to power through hunger. Like, can you not control yourself? When you were in school you had not to eat for at least 4-5 hours at a time. Is it that difficult now?
You sure you aren't diabetic?
Great job . I love when people share their success stories and tips
Steven Asanti was by far the most psychotic patient in all 12 seasons of this show.

I watch people who do eating challenges 😂😂
I'm working out a lot but I've never been even overweight, not obese. Funnily enough I have to stuff my face out to gain weight. I hardly eat about 3500 calories a day (for reference my weight is 65 kg, 143 lb) and I spend about 10 to 12 hours in the gym. I wonder how they devour that much food. If their nutrition was optimal, they would never starve to death not eating 100 cheeseburgers a day.
I'm watching it while I fast 😂 couldn't agree more 👌
At Dottie's size...how in the heck did she conceive a baby?!?! That poor child :(:(:( And why is she doing all of the driving?! No seat belt - seat all the way down behind her - where are the police in this picture?!

Same as an alcoholic! Or drug addict!
The way they just shovel the food in. All beige and carb heavy. Not a vegetable in sight
It's amazing, right? The shoveling part? Sometimes it seems like they don't even come up for air between bites. You'd think they hadn't had food for 7 weeks and are afraid they won't get food again anytime soon.
Steven's father, when getting the call to come get him, should've been
"No. He's threatened me. Take him to a shelter"
I never know how these people afford to live like this. Dr. Now said someone would have to consume 30,000 cal a day to be that size. That is equal to about 60 burgers a day!! HOWWW
I'm asking the same question
Not even just that but how do you eat 60 burgers and not throw up after every 5. I struggle to finish one its so greasy and unhealthy. They must feel sick all the time
Food stamps.
Our tax dollars.

Right? I teared up a bit seeing that one 😢
Now
