    Nice job! I may have missed it but did you say it uses weather data to automatically decide when your lawn needs water? That’s my favorite thing about Rachio. It does all the work for me.

      Yeah! It’s connected to weather underground.

    Hey Vince. This being about a 1/2 dozen Videoni watched on this I think you did a great job. I have to say I love the idea of this. The one thing that holds me back is the fact that it sprays like a garden house meaning large volumes of water as some soils will not absorb fast enough. I personally switched switched over to MP rotors which are awesome however if they could somehow adjust spray patterns I would be all over it. They are definitely a hard no for watering in new seed. If they could fund a way to adjust spray pattern I think it will be a huge hit

      In my next video, I’ll be mentioning that. They are testing out new inserts for the heads that put out a finer droplet. But the current setup is a very large droplet size. I actually hand watered the trenches that were dug for this system since I was afraid turning on the system would wash it out.

      Thanks for answering. I even had my wife tell me what she thought. Good move taking spray volume into consideration. I will be on stand by. Thanks Vince. 💯

    I’ve been looking forward to this video for a while! For green roof applications it seems like there may be something here given the importance of not throwing water off the roof and the ties to climate data.

      I’d be interested in the build quality and longevity of the systems. Whats longterm maintenance look like / serviceability?

    • @TheLawngineer
      @TheLawngineer  Месяц назад

      @@smj460 new video goes live today at 4:00 PM EST. I don’t talk specifically about build quality… seems OK to me. It’s all plastic from what I see on the outside. Does not seem to be a way to open up the unit to see inside the base (where the motor and valve are), but there is a screw at the top of the head that allows you to pull out the spray nozzle insert. I talk about that briefly in the next video. I don’t talk much about maintenance either but have some positive and constructive feedback near the end of the video. Check it out!

      Sorry for the delay. Back in November when we got this in the ground, we had some freezing temps which forced us to blow out the system for winter.

    Will admit that I haven't watched the prior vid's in this series. I'm assuming that you are on a city water system that delivers pretty constant volume of water? I'm on a well water system and have a heck of a time calibrating reliably due to the differences in volume. It would be nice if the flow meters (they are embedded in the heads right?1?) would track the dynamic fluctuations and adjust the pattern so I don't end up over/under shooting. Can't help but also wonder when the Velocity PM video is coming out later this summer. Looks like the Triv has nearly fully established in your yard.

    • @TheLawngineer
      @TheLawngineer  Месяц назад +1

      Yes, we are on City water. But we have fluctuations too based on demand. For instance, watering in the AM seems to have more flow/volume. But mid-day it is different. I don’t know if each head has a flow meter, but the app is able to calculate the amount of water used in gallons, so I assume there must be a meter somewhere. Poa is fully established. Probably gonna spray soon. Temps are starting to be consistently above 70. I’m out of town next week. If I don’t spray before then, it will likely be when I get back. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

    Vince, do you have a master valve or is yours pressurized the whole time?? Do you know how to wire it up? I tried today and failed lol

    • @TheLawngineer
      @TheLawngineer  19 дней назад

      Constant pressure. Each head is its own valve. The control box came pre-wired. I just had to make sure the numbered heads were connected the corresponding wire coming out of the box.
