So just a heads up on that green sprinkler. It looks bad, because you didn't use it properly. You gave it way too much pressure (I did the same). You can actually adjust the nozzles slightly, to point them more up, but then back the pressure off, just turn it on a bit and you'll see steady streams of water coming out and it will cover the area around the sprinkler.
Agreed. I love this channel but I do feel they either had ulterior motives to sway the results or really just missed the blinding obvious that you could adjust it. Absolutely nothing wrong with the cheap sprinkler apart from you can’t adjust the pattern. You will always waste water with any sprinkler…
I have this cheapest budget sprinkler, it have 3 arms which you can adjust the tilt, more tilt more speed, you can put one arm straight up making it spray right above the sprinkler covering all the areas, other 2 arms can control wider area and slower speed of spinning, which will make water droplets instead of spray. And lastly opening the tap will help you with all the adjustments.

A good way to tell if your lawn is getting dry is by looking at the color. Before it starts to take damage it shifts the color a bit to blue, which is the perfect time for a deep watering.
An oscillating sprinkler is a device that helps water your garden or lawn by spraying water in a back-and-forth motion. It has a long tube with several small holes or nozzles on top. When you attach it to a hose and turn on the water, the sprinkler moves from side to side, covering a wide area. As the water flows through the holes or nozzles, it creates a spray that travels in an arc. The oscillating motion of the sprinkler ensures that the water is distributed evenly across your garden or lawn. This helps to keep your plants hydrated and promotes healthy growth. You can usually adjust the range and width of the spray by using controls on the sprinkler. This allows you to customize the watering pattern to suit the size and shape of your garden.
I must be psychic because I literally just came here to see if you had anything about watering lawns. Another week of no rain and my "lawn" will be one big brick.
I had planned to do something else this week, but my lawn like everyone else's up and down the country is drying out big time now and it seemed appropriate 👌
Hate to be a wet reg but the budget sprinkler is adjustable… may be stiff but the black tips are rotatable to change the distance of spray from the base… throw the water higher and it will close the unsprayed ring
If it does jam spray WD-40 or PB Blaster into the water nozzles. Let it sit for an hour or so in the nozzles...Set it back up and should be totally unclogged...
I found this video because i just moved into a house and the grass is completely yellow. The problem that i have is i work late and wont be up at 5am. To clearify, i need to mow my dead lawn to keep the water in it?
It rains at all hours, of course, but you're choosing to add extra water on top If you're doing that, you can choose when to add the water - so it's best to add it in the morning when the grass is about to grow and be active all day, rather than at night when fungus is active
People should probably NOT aerate (or pitchfork) their lawns in a heatwave or when they see signs of lawn dehydration. Only aerate during the full growth period of your lawn. For example, for cool season grasses you missed the Spring growth period so wait until the Fall.
Great video Robbie, great to see Jason having an active part also. I do not think his is local? But can he make TEA! take care guys remember wear a hat and splash some sun cream on in this weather.
Like it doesn't rain in the middle of the night. So why would water at 2 am cause harm. The answer is it doesn't. Over watering is what causes harm. The time you do it doesn't. If your done before the sun comes up you have ensured to get the most out of the water.
When your lawn is sopping wet it leaves huge footprints and doesn't spring back up either... Also, if the soil is wet below the surface the screwdriver will come our muddy. Confusing...
A sprinkler specifically for round gardens..? Nope. It has several settings with different patterns which create different shapes... for different shaped gardens.
Who names these videos? Do you have a peer-reviewed study that says 95% of us are watering our lawns incorrectly? Which is stupid of me to say because I don't water mine at all.

Are you a member at a club, if so then those greens are your clubs biggest asset Keeping those greens going with water is super important Speaking as an ex green keeper
@Premier_lawns_official yes i am. Golf courses need to be using water from their own lakes. Once that runs out I think Water courses are need to take priority. As periods of drought become more frequent and last longer wildlife which we depend on and agriculture needs to take priority.
@@streamleazefishhouse most golf courses that don't have a lake and if they have the money are putting in bore holes.... There is plenty of water down there.

The only way to properly water your lawn is to install a properly designed irrigation system according to IA standards. You need head to head coverage and cycle your watering times. Unfortunately I gotta abandon the over-seeding effort in that part of the yard cause I can’t risk hurting it more than I have. Hopefully my ignorance will be revealed sooner than later. It’s 80+ years old, 120ft tall, and the keystone of my curb appeal/landscaping.Thanks for responding. You guys are good peoples
A good way to tell if your lawn is getting dry is by looking at the color. Before it starts to take damage it shifts the color a bit to blue, which is the perfect time for a deep watering.
How long is a deep watering?
@@sleepersix Depends on your soil. Online you can find Liters per square meter and then calculate the time with how much flow your irrigation has.
Jason I put down new grass seed and there small patches of yellow that eventually killed off the grass. Should i re seed or replace the dirt?
1/2 mil video in 9 days! Nice work!
Thanks 👍 sometimes RUclips just decides to make it popular 😂 and off they go 💚
Jason's tool tips... Ilike it 👍🏾
Great advice as always Robbie!
Hey Jordan, expect to see more of Jason's tool tips 🔥🔥🔥
Great content.
Thank you from New Hampshire US.
Hey will welcome to the channel 😁
Good tips. It's probably not a good idea to be grabbing foxgloves bare handed though.
Thanks, I'm all about the grass. I had to Google foxgloves to double check what you meant 🙂👍😜 plants aren't my forte
I think jason is a natural in front of the camera. I can see you doing a lot more behind the camera work in the future 😅👍
Graham as always, you have nailed it. Yes, I think my camera work will improve no end 😂😂😂
Just needs to learn how to say oss-ill-ay-ting
Hi, which wetting agent do you use?
I don't use wetting agents unless there is dry patch, it's really not needed on 99 percent of lawns
I am new to gardening. What is an oslowcating sprinkler?
Sometimes spelt "Oscillating".
OSS I lay ting he means
Lol. Searching for this joke in the comments 😂
I live in South Florida. Daily watering in the summer is almost a necessity.
Robbie what about cutting in the heat to is it best to keep the length ?
That will depend on what height and how often it's usually cut at. My advice would be just to take the tips off
Hi Robbie I was trying to work with 30 r 35mm sitting about 40 now as let it grow ther with the heat was thinking just chip off it then
A sprinkler that can locate Australia for under £25? I'll take it! Oz Locating for the win!
been looking for that oslicating one online but cannot find it. :D
It's been great for the engagement 😁
I must be psychic because I literally just came here to see if you had anything about watering lawns. Another week of no rain and my "lawn" will be one big brick.
I had planned to do something else this week, but my lawn like everyone else's up and down the country is drying out big time now and it seemed appropriate 👌
Great video Robbie
Thanks Ron 😍
Hate to be a wet reg but the budget sprinkler is adjustable… may be stiff but the black tips are rotatable to change the distance of spray from the base… throw the water higher and it will close the unsprayed ring
That said they’re still inferior to most other designs… but they’re adjustable and they work better than nothing…
Funny I have a video going out this weekend and we address this very thing 🙂
I hand water with a hose a good 5 days a week. The lawn still dries out. A lot of sand in Florida.
👍👍👍
What mower is that how did you get the stripes without a roller ?
That mower show is a Milwaukee Battery mower, the lawn at the front is cut with an old antique John Deere cylinder mower
Great and fun video, Thanks guys! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
The oscillating one can become jammed by limescale in areas with hard water.
Hey Neil I have yet to see that though have read about it
If it does jam spray WD-40 or PB Blaster into the water nozzles. Let it sit for an hour or so in the nozzles...Set it back up and should be totally unclogged...
I think you’ll find it is oz-lik-are-ing
Great information, thank you. Keep up the good work. Seattle
Glad it was helpful 👍👍👍
Ive got the timer and sprinkler set up so that it goes for 30 mins at 5AM
Perfect 👌👍
Some great advice thanks. Great video.
Your welcome 😁
So do I need to water it everyday or not?
I found this video because i just moved into a house and the grass is completely yellow. The problem that i have is i work late and wont be up at 5am. To clearify, i need to mow my dead lawn to keep the water in it?
No you don't need to mow it. You can also get a trimmer. Then it doesn't matter what time you are up at
@@Premier_lawns_official Even if this grass is completely dried out and yellow?
I’ve never understood the suggestion no to water in the evening. It rains at all hours, and we don’t worry about it.
It rains at all hours, of course, but you're choosing to add extra water on top
If you're doing that, you can choose when to add the water - so it's best to add it in the morning when the grass is about to grow and be active all day, rather than at night when fungus is active
I’ve always thought watering at night was better during a heat wave/ dry spell as it gave the water time to soak in and not evaporate
Water at NIGHT -
SAVE 75-80% IN EVAPORATION!!!
(Water will stay in ground for longer)
Agreed - Fungus doesn’t just develop by watering at night. There’s several other factors like how much water you’re putting etc.
Surely watering at night throughout droughts or when it hasn’t rained in ages would be ok to do too.
Very high percentage!
Remember each place in our country is different. Amount of rain, season, and composition of soil will determine how much water is absorbed.
People should probably NOT aerate (or pitchfork) their lawns in a heatwave or when they see signs of lawn dehydration. Only aerate during the full growth period of your lawn. For example, for cool season grasses you missed the Spring growth period so wait until the Fall.
I don't see any one aerating their lawn in a heatwave...
Not a problem here in Northern Ireland as it pisses down 24hrs per day.
Today is the first time it has rained in about 4 week's
Ozlowkating?
Great video Robbie, great to see Jason having an active part also. I do not think his is local? But can he make TEA! take care guys remember wear a hat and splash some sun cream on in this weather.
Drowning in sunscreen at the moment 👌 🌞🌞🌞
Hope you are doing well and that church yard recovered all right?

@davel831 grand, enjoy your watering :) I'm in the office making a video haha, then the pub later for the match
im still stuck on the ozzilikating one
There is right or wrong way just water especially in this warm weather we are having
Great content!
I don't know that's for sure. Man, I'm trying. Grass is not easy.
I have a big lawn and lots of plants i used a lot of water before but the water company has now put me on a water meter and im now paying per litre.
Have a look at collecting the rainwater off your roof
Like it doesn't rain in the middle of the night. So why would water at 2 am cause harm. The answer is it doesn't. Over watering is what causes harm. The time you do it doesn't. If your done before the sun comes up you have ensured to get the most out of the water.
Oscillating
😂
The popped shirt collar is back !
It was a tad warm!
Budget spray can be manipulated by twisting the ends to give an even spread
Ozlerkating one hahaha. Its osserlating.😂 great video guys
You mean oscillating, don’t judge
@@lesbaty8919 its called having a joke 😀 i spelt it phonetically to help with the pronunciation.
You lot crack me up
the hozelock stuff breaks after a year and is priced like its high quality.
I haven't experienced that
When your lawn is sopping wet it leaves huge footprints and doesn't spring back up either... Also, if the soil is wet below the surface the screwdriver will come our muddy. Confusing...
3:10 Oof, I'm house sitting a friend's house and I watered the grass at night 🤦.
👍👍
Play on 1.5x speed
👍
A sprinkler specifically for round gardens..? Nope. It has several settings with different patterns which create different shapes... for different shaped gardens.
Water at NIGHT -
SAVE 75-80% IN EVAPORATION!!!
(Water will stay in ground for longer)
I alway thought it was better to water the lawn at night, because if you do it early morning on a hot day it burns the grass
Imagine presenting a video on watering lawns and not even knowing that it’s called an OSCILLATOR 🤣
5:00 am whoo!
Who names these videos? Do you have a peer-reviewed study that says 95% of us are watering our lawns incorrectly? Which is stupid of me to say because I don't water mine at all.
Thanks for the feedback 😃 that was a quick study I did on the back of a fag packet. More cynical people might refer to it as click bate.
But I couldn't possibly comment one way or the other 🤐
I'm glad the emphasis here is to preserve water. I do think watering a lawn is a complete waste of time. As a golfer I don't like them using sprinklers on the greens. It just wastes water.
Are you a member at a club, if so then those greens are your clubs biggest asset
Keeping those greens going with water is super important
Speaking as an ex green keeper
@Premier_lawns_official yes i am. Golf courses need to be using water from their own lakes. Once that runs out I think Water courses are need to take priority. As periods of drought become more frequent and last longer wildlife which we depend on and agriculture needs to take priority.
@@streamleazefishhouse most golf courses that don't have a lake and if they have the money are putting in bore holes.... There is plenty of water down there.
Playing golf although fun, is more harmful than watering grass. Do you drive to your club? Isn't that wasteful based on your logic.
@roger4880 no I walk.
Don’t bother, it will come back in time. Only a waste of valuable water.
I never water my lawn and its green. Grass on the side of the highway is always green and no one water that either. Train your grass to not need water.
Your soil must be good
Can't understand what your saying
What lol
Listen to Ozzy Osbourne interviews, you'll eventually get used to the Northern Accents such as Manchester, Yorkshire and of course, the Newcastle aks Geordie Accent.
I always attempted and failed to keep my lawn green. This year I won't bother, and save a few litres of water too.
Great advice but I needed a translator ;)
English subtitles available
👍👍
👍👍👍
If you didn't cut the grass so short, you would not need to water!!!
👍
Heat wave in England? Fat chance.
I hate Amazon. Why always link to Amazon? Great video nevertheless
Hi there
This video took two of us 1 day to film and 1 day to edit (3 days in total if you like for one person). I'm self employed and a small business and have to earn a living
The great thing with Amazon is affiliate links, these are links to the products I talk about.
It doesn't cost you an extra to buy from my links and if you do use them Amazon pays me a small commission on the sale (it's not much btw)
This in turn helps pay for videos like this 👇
Without it, I couldn't make the videos, so it's a win all round.
You need closed captioning. You're very hard to understand.
There is subtitles available on all my videos, you need to turn them on your side 👍
Sorry but not all grass is the same. St Augustine roots grow across the top of the soil. Watering deep won’t make the roots grow deeper.
This is aimed at UK viewers...
The only way to properly water your lawn is to install a properly designed irrigation system according to IA standards. You need head to head coverage and cycle your watering times.
Suggesting that people purchase impact style temporary sprinkler heads is bad advice. Extremely time consuming and as well, the distributive uniformity is awful: meaning, massively inefficient.
This is weekend Joe nonsense. Everything you are displaying here for purchase is a waste of resources and water.
I should know, I run a very successful sprinkler repair and installation business in Denver, Colorado, United States. 303 sprinklers. This is why I'm going to be working on quality content when i have free time, to dispel such awful advice
Thanks for the feedback, most gardens in the UK need only one or two sprinklers at best. We don't have huge open gardens like they have in America
@@Premier_lawns_official you get so much rain. Please forgive me because I should have recognized the accent and your different needs.
Those garden hose sprinklers are very inefficient. Think of it this way. The precipitation rate at 30' is 3x less than at the head. So they aren't putting nearly the inch per hour away as you are up close.
Anyway. I know you know your stuff for your region but watering at 5200' in an air environment ISD much different. Thanks for your polite response to my scathing comment. I value perfection and sometimes I get irritable with internet advice. I know you are producing content for your audience
@@rockymountainhomestead it's 100 percent ok. I don't claim to know everything and probably just like you, I use RUclips to learn.

The human race is on a mission to destroy the environment, but the USA achieves on a more industrial scale than most. Swimming pools on every other property in California, then you wonder why none of the rivers make it to the ocean any more? Watering lawns from mains water is just wrong, period.
