Holy shit I had no idea Rich from DF initially tried to hire you and then ultimately "adopted" your style of video analysis. Makes perfect sense though.
well either Sony itself struggles and they all go under or Sony did the right thing for all parties involved!!!? its not like Sony went out of their way to shutter studios? Sony gave both studios chances' heck even studio liverpool did nothing wrong.... its just the industry, the industry is getting even worse now going woke!! your last hope is the Chinese and the asian markets that dont have woke or agenda driven targets.... and the chinese have the most resources now

Big fan of C64 SID chip... It's part of what inspired me to start making soundtracks... along with Arcades and Master system etc.. but C64 hit hard. I've befriended some C64 SID musicians and am currently remixing two tracks from Chris Huelsbeck with his permission for my soon to be released soundtrack album. So many brilliant musicians from the C64 era. Keep up the great work mate.
other channels and reviewers always talk a big game, but time and time again NX actually shows his in-depth knowledge and talks about things at a level that other reviewers just dont know or understand. hands down best in the biz
@29:35 Just a bit of feedback: If my understanding is correct, I think your description is a bit off, here - for the non-technical listeners. The reason tearing happens is because the frame data is being refreshed whilst it is being "scanned" down the screen (when speaking about CRTs) or when the GRAM (or frame buffer in the display device) is partially refreshed when drawing out to the LCD/OLED panel. The way VRR works is because there is a control on data refresh, leading to a consistency in data display. i.e. the extra circuitry/logic/magic halts the refresh of the GRAM/display frame buffer, allows it to finish rendering to the screen and then syncs the data from the next available frame sent from the GPU at the time the last displayed frame finished. So, there will be NO tearing as long as you are sending individual frames within the "VRR window" - which is the ability of the hardware to manage/coordinate sequential frames being displayed without delay.
I had looked for a video game coverage channel I could stomach for years and eventually gave up. Found you on Moore's Law is Dead and cautiously gave you a try. No regrets, your channel is great and I feel that your sincerity and respect for your audience's intelligence really come through. Hope you keep this up for many years to come
Game difficulty was absolutely brutal in the 8-bit computer era & for me Airwolf was the one I couldn't get beyond the first few screens on. I suspect this game reviewed poorly but can't recall. Looking back at some of the best C64 music, the Ocean Loader(s), Wizball, Creatures, Flimbo's Quest to name a few were brilliant IMHO and would like to give an honourable mention to a SPECCY (yes really) 128 soundtrack for the game Hydrofool which I think I liked above all others from that era.
Great video Michael. Found your take on where gaming hardware could go really interesting. As you say most commentators concentrate on just the GPU and CPU. Looking forward to seeing how the PS5 pro performs when it's released. As its leaked specs don't seem overly impressive we'll see if custom hardware solutions can make a big difference.
Would you ever feature in a DF video, particularly now their new parent company is IGN? Think you guys would compliment each other and offer some interesting discussions
@7:00 What's really holding back this face rendering tech is the inelasticity of the skin around the eyes and mouth/cheeks. When the woman turns around - the subsurface scattering of the light on he skin looks great (as do the textures) but when her eyes move to look to the side, you see a lifelessness that's disorientating (the uncanny valley effect) because there's no associated biological mimicry that goes into making the eyeballs turn - no subtle shifting of the eyelids or muscles around the eye sockets.
The performance mode does not work correctly in this first part of the Black Myth Wukong ( cloud fight), even after setting this mode, the game remains in balanced mode.
I'll never get used to the Unreal Engine look frankly, Frostbite is much better imo, Space Marine 2 here also has a nice unique look to it, unlike many UE4/5 games.
wish you didnt work work for IGN, youre bigger and more respectable than IGN! IGN have always been renowned for being bad since the early 2000's hated IGN back then but i grew up with decent UK mags CVG Mean Machines etc.... so i get IGN is big...

Bad take on Zen 5. AMD themselves advertised it as 17% faster in gaming and it turned out to be 2% faster. Why make excuses for these companies after they lie?

He made a video explaining that whole situation once. Now it's kind of amusing that they both work for IGN.
Sony REALLY dropped the ball with letting go Ready at Dawn that along with their blunder of closing Drive Club studio.

Some truly visionary stuff, sir. Subbed.
Excellent, now I have a video to watch at work today 👍🏽
I 100% agree with your take on The Order 1886 and game length/value.
Because of its length, its one of my most completed games of the PS4 Generation.

Its a VR. Not many people will get to experience it.

Non-Woke game sells well whilst woke-garbage doesn't sell... "WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF THAT HAPPENIN'!?" As Harry Hill would say.
Could you nosh off sony any harder
Don't mention Indiana Jones. You'll upset the L-astro Bots😂
