Please keep talking about the commercial side of gaming. It's incredibly valuable first-hand insight, which is rare to find on RUclips. Enjoyed the episode overall! I know you're a busy man, but it'd be great to see more frequent episodes of the podcast. I know so many people who primarily 'listen' to RUclips these days vs just watching it, so I reckon this show could be a great vehicle to grow your channel.
I am late but you asked for feedback. Love the financial breakdowns! My favorite thing about your videos so far is that you always start at a specific point (some news story) but then zoom out and show us the big picture and how it will develop over time. The analysis of finances is a big part of that.
@@AndyGilleand Ahh true. Just remembered that DF and Eurogamer we’re brought up my the IGN group. Always miss NX gamers content on IGN though, as I don’t really watch mainstream gaming outlets.
Grwae video Michael. Keep the financial content in. It helps explain the wider context in which creative and technical decisions are made. And it's something you do well on your channel. Look forward to the next update
Not all devs want to make psvr2 versions of their games, so imo Sony should ve figure out a team specialized in porting third party games to VR, and sell "VR upgrades/mods" at 5$ or 10$ A VR team could port several games per year, for other teams to add VR is a new job but for a specialized team its the norm I hope Sony don't get rid of VR 😢😢😢
Showcasing SW:O without RT reflections in a scene like you showed around 33:00 with all those ugly SSR artifacts is really dumb on their part. That's not how state-of-the-art games of today should be showcased.
Even by your example, Taylor Swift's best is not even close to the top 5 of Michal Jackson or top 2 of The Beatles or even best of AC/DC, ABBA, George Michael, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Madonnna, Whitney Houston, Spice Girls, Oasis.... off the top of my head. And then even Taylor's own sales have fallen off a cliff in the past 15 years. I think her best is 10 years or more old. The reality is, Taylor Swift is the beacon of Music (in terms of most popular/Sales) and she would not even be in the top 20 back in the 60s-90s.
Your unique perspective on things in this space is always interesting and valuable. Yeah, the Amiga was a great computer. My second one. How many got the Blitter Wars reference, I wonder. 🙂 Loved the games you showed in the background. You're right regarding the silhouette thing. It's a staple in the manga in anime business to this day.
I actually finally bought psvr 2 off Facebook marketplace a couple months ago for the same price it is now I'm glad more people can get it at a totally fair price. PSVR 2 doesn't have a ton of titles but that's almost a good thing. I have a lot on my psvr1 backlog that I'll now never get to. The titles psvr2 has are actually great ones And GT7 is an absolute game changer.
It’s really strange the whole PSVR2 story, I mean I expected a launch event but there was nothing, an event and break down of what the set can do would have given a huge momentum and then there’s the marketing in general, I was in Curries a few months back and they had an Oculus headset booth where you could try the headset, exactly what they should have been doing with PSVR2. I just don’t understand the lack of presence of Sony, it makes no sense. If you go back to the PS1 they were putting them in night clubs for folks to try. On a similar note I can’t understand Frontier Developments not having a PS5 version of Elite Dangerous ready for launch along side PSVR2, I mean there was a handful of games for the headset at launch and Elite Dangerous could have been one of them giving it a huge boost and it would have been one of the best VR experiences there along with GT7, I would have got a PSVR2 instantly if Elite was on it !!!
Every Xbox fan already have their new Xbox now and that's about it. It's already respectable to hold half of Playstation's sales. I would be more worried for Nintendo as they are now on their own against a now blossomed Android/iOS mobile industry since they are bound to the children's gaming market. The fact that Nintendo now only sells OLED Switchs probably means that only their old fanbase are stille buying Nintendo consoles these days and their games are not selling that well.

Thanks @nxgamer! Can't wait to try PSVR 2 on PC!
Great episode. Got to say, I enjoy this Database series, considerably more than Digital Foundry’s Weekly Directs. Controversial, maybe?
same
Well hey they both work for IGN now lol

Great discussion as always! Love your analysis of the gaming market.
Great episode, looking forward to the next 👍
Mike, how is HL Alyx on Quest 3 vs PSVR2 on PC? Which one is better, you reckon?
Keep em coming,the financials,they speak the truth,as the saying goes,numbers don't lie!!
"music is basically dead now"
*glances at Taylor Swift*

Definitely want the business analysis to continue. Can’t get that expert analysis anywhere else!
Does the headset display HD HDR from the PC?
Nobody bought Braid a second time because nobody enjoyed it the first time. That game always sucked.

Bungie for $3.6 BILLI!? Eeeesh! Disney bought Star Wars for $4BN
I enjoy the business chat. market, financials etc

Hehe, Xbox, _go home._
Sony fanboys suddenly become experts on PCs and are claiming most PC gamers have BT which is patently false.
