@12:25 I just drilled a 1/8 inch hole and ran in a #12 self-tapper with the rubber washer- 4yrs ago, no drips, nothing. Cost .10c. No more mess dropping the pan. Good video. Thumbs up!
I'm going to tell you man that's an awesome video I really appreciate it posting that Definitely not so scared about doing it myself now can't thank you enough
The Mopar solenoid is the best one to use, it's the most robust one and the gm one can cause other issues if you don't have the other mods done with it. Hate to say use the oem part but it really is the best one. I went through a Dorman solenoid, a ATS solenoid, and another brand I can remember and I ended up going back to the Mopar oem solenoid and haven't had an issue since.. the other solenoids all only lasted about 3 months or so give or take a little each. So after wasting alot of money on these solenoids im sticking with oem and my trans is built with firepunk street/race series master rebuild kit and the oem solenoid works great. And yeah I agree I always use a little gasket maker on the trans pan to hold the gasket in place and I never get any leaks. The trans pan bolts torque are 100 in lb. I use gasket maker on the oil pan as well to help with gasket.. and thats coming from a guy who hates using gasket maker on vehicles haha but when you have to, you have to haha
Honestly it’s been quite a while back, I don’t have links anymore but I did a ton of reading through threads online and I watched whatever videos I could find on here. Sorry I couldn’t be more help. Good luck.
Thanks man best video I have watch on doing all of that so far now I can go back and redo the things I didn’t do I do have one question after replaced the sensor and transducer my truck did shift future then 2 will not shift to 1
Thank you! Man I’m honestly not sure. After doing all of this to this one it’s shifted and ran cool ever since. I’m sorry I can’t be more help. Good luck. I realize this was 10 mo ago, hopefully all is well and you figured it out.
My 99 is doing the same thing, high reving, can’t find the gear it wants, OD isn’t engaging, going from 4th to 3rd over and over. Did my TPS sensor, output speed sensor, changed the fluid etc. I’m putting a new governor solenoid and transducer in it this weekend. A few trans shops said get rid of those old parts and put new ones in.
@@barrybennett1292 This. Mine was broken into 3 pieces. Because of how easy it is to access, you should at LEAST inspect it every time you’re in there for a filter change. No excuse not to if you’re already in there.
Sorry guys, I haven’t checked the comments in awhile. The trans is doing really well. I haven’t had any issues since this video. It runs consistently at 162 degrees and shifts great. I don’t beat on it though, I have a very mild tune (superchip tuner) it’s not fast lol but shifts like it should.
I’m having the same issue with my transmission and took it to a mechanic and he wants to charge me $9000. For a new transmission. He said, because it has 175,000 miles changing the governor will not fix the problem. What’s your thoughts? Is too much money to spend.
@@sergionava9692 Man I’m sorry I don’t check these enough. I want to say with fluid and all I was under $500 I’m no mechanic but I took the chance and did this to mine. I paid less than 9k for the truck. So I was willing to give it a go and it worked well. That truck has over 30k on it since doing this and it still shifts great. I did a filter and fluid change at 25k and the fluid still looked clean that came out of it. The trans still runs 160-165 on hot days and shifts like it’s a new trans.
I’m not positive what thread I read. There were a few videos on here explaining how to do it and the issue it solves. I’ll see if I can some info on it again. And thank you!!!
Honestly I don’t remember what parts came from where but I know I ordered some from Amazon and the ones I couldn’t get on there thoroughbred diesel had.

Just a chick, who drives a 97 12v dually. She’s my girl! Having to do this and I want to tell you how much I appreciate this video.

I’m sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve been on here. Thank you for the positive feedback. I hope everything went smoothly for you.
@@naturalmisfit9633 no worries man...life happens...and it did...went perfect and solved my problem too...thx again
Perfect!! Glad it helped. Thank you for the feedback!
Thanks for that great video
I’m just learning how to do
It on my truck
Sorry I don’t get on here often. Your very welcome, hope it helps.

Would drilling into the block for the solenoid actually help with the flow ?

Thank you for making this video! But was also wondering what video or place are you getting your info about this?

very helpful Good video doing this Tommorow
Good video ! Thanks for posting. I’ve got a 99 Dodge Ram with Cummins & 47re too.
Thank you! I threw the video up hoping if nothing else it’ll give people the confidence to do these small adjustments in their driveway.

The new parts definitely helped and I believe adjusting both bands definitely helped a lot to.
sounds like maybe the 3/4/OD spring is weak or broken. He shows installing in the vid.

How's this transmission running now? Curious after your guessing about the clutch band torque and guessing about the filter drill mod...
I was wondering too...hopefully he responds!

How did the transmission run after?
Very helpful.
Thank you!
Great Video Is the transmission working properly?
Yes! 20,000+ miles still working great.
Where can I read about drilling the block? Nice informative video 👍

Where exactly is the governor solenoid located?...
Did you use OPT upgrade kit dual pack?
Great video by the way!!🤙🤙🤙
Mine was doing same thing hopefully this wats wrong with mine
Hey where do you order that kit from

Dumbest thing dodge did was not put a drain on their transmissions.. dumb engineering idea haha
Where's the speed sensor
I get to do this while it's -10 outside😅😅😅😭😭😭😭
Ouch. Hope everything went as good as it could. Sorry I don’t get on here often.
What is so funny....
This guy be laughing about nothing
Just nerves i guess. I’m not a extrovert, just wanted to give someone enough confidence to tackle a moderate job.
