I got the top of the line ATS with the forever warranty for my 01 dodge..told them what I had built Cummins compounds ect.. broke it 4 times in a year! So much for an $8k "blowproof" trans
In the diesel industry we used to refer to ATS transmissions as "Another transmission soon". Overpriced junk. Installed five different ATS Allison transmissions for a guy in one year because they kept burning up almost instantly, one we sent back because when we took it out of the crate the pins on the harness plug were corroded to death... you could tell they took a junkyard core, slapped a rebuild in it, painted it and shipped it without any testing at all.
I've got 430,xxx miles on my '95 Dodge/Cummins, with 323,000 on the ATS Stage IV trans I had built & installed at ATS in 2001. I've towed heavy, street raced with the TC locked, and driven 90% in town driving. It's never let me down, and is still going strong. The trans parts in the above video are not ATS upgrades. I'm thinking the P.O. had the ATS "rebuilt" with stock parts at some point. And the fluid!! I change my trans fluid every 20,000 miles with 3.5 gallons of fresh Dexron III--with ATS you don't need the full synthetic stuff.

I've personally bought 2 ATS transmissions both 48RE. 1st was warrenty after the OD locked up and blew the case apart with only 150miles on it. Took 3 months to warranty. Which they stood behind. They sent me another stage 3 48RE. It came as a Modified 47RE case. It lasted about 12,000 miles. 2006 5.9 with nothing more than a SMARTY. Great information, I am currently digging around the insides of a 1991 dodge 727 cummins diesel. When you mentioned the output shaft and its backlash, I was wondering how the that shaft would move in and out along with the clearances. Most of the those parts are very similar to what is inside the a727 1991 model trans. I'm glad I subscribed to your channel
Another absolutely amazing video. At this point I would rather have you build my transmissions than anyone locally here in South Carolina. Your expertise, skill, and integrity are all way up there. Thanks for sharing!
Yep I had a stage 3 ats with the co-pilot controller in my stock tune only 08 duramax completely went out 2 months after warranty fell off they wouldn't help me at all.
Their first mistake is trying to selling transmissions to pilgrims. There’s a reason why most quality transmission shops refuse to sell “take-out” transmissions. You simply cannot control the quality of the install.
I'm so glad to had found your channel. Education at its finest thank you for all the information. You can watch build videos all day, but your the only one that I've come across pointing out how CRUCIAL clearances actually are, as you lead off onto to next item of discussion. Excellent job ✔

ATS = Another Transmission Soon
😂😂😂😂
LOL with Respect 😂😂
Yep I had a stage 3 ats with the co-pilot controller in my stock tune only 08 duramax completely went out 2 months after warranty fell off they wouldn't help me at all.
Their first mistake is trying to selling transmissions to pilgrims. There’s a reason why most quality transmission shops refuse to sell “take-out” transmissions. You simply cannot control the quality of the install.
7+ hours for him = 3 really long weekends DIY. Plus you have to know everything he knows and not forget something along the way.
I think there's times when it's both wise and a bargain to hire an expert and let him do his thing. I wouldn't take out my wife's appendix, LOL! 😂
I'm so glad to had found your channel. Education at its finest thank you for all the information. You can watch build videos all day, but your the only one that I've come across pointing out how CRUCIAL clearances actually are, as you lead off onto to next item of discussion. Excellent job ✔
It’s nice to see people that actually care about what they do. Great video!
You can use a piece of an old pushrod from an engine to replace that little checkball in the selector detent. Works great and it will never wear out.
Love watching an honest trans builder with true experience tell it like it is.
Thanks guys
