Today, I give my first impressions on the PlayStation Vita! We take a look at what things come inside the box, and how it fairs compared to the original 1000 model.

Out of all of the Japanese imported slim vita videos I've watched, you told everything.....EVERYTHING needed to know about the Japanese imported version. I've seen so many videos not saying ANYTHING about the damn buttons being swapped. I just recently found out about it and you're the first I've seen that shows that you can actually CHANGE that. I figured it would be something permanent with the Japanese imported version. I've even seen people in comment sections that "mention" the button swap but never even emphasized that you could change that. You get a like and a sub from me, THANK YOU!!! I feel way more comfortable getting the aqua blue Japanese import one now!!! Very helpful!!!

Holy crap, thank you so much man! I didn't even realize it meant that much to people haha. I felt bad about it cause it wasn't until i finished recording the video that I remembered that I had forgotten to show people how to change it in case it bothered them. So in that respect, I'm glad I helped you! The Aqua blue is definitely a great choice. If I wasn't caught up in nostalgia, I probably would have ordered that one.

The Vita is very much still alive and not dead, you wont find any triple A games in North America coming out anymore on it, but games are still coming out from Japan and being localized. I have 60 physical copy games in my collection, and waiting for more releases well into 2018. Its a great system, and the games are becoming more and more rare, so it is up the alley of Collectors as well.
Agreed. I like to buy niche games on the off chance that they're actually rare. I'm still gonna play the hell out of them regardless!

In Japan the O and X as "yes" and "no" (or "accepted"/"rejected", "correct"/"incorrect") is pretty well established. Additionally, many games on previous systems like the SNES used the right most of the four face buttons for selecting and the bottom button for cancelling.
Notice: *The new update of the Vita, you can go to settings, accessibility, then look for "Buttons" or whatever u don't have a Vita, then scroll down until you find X and O then swap them, tap apple then boom, done.*

I like the PS Vita Slim because there is a special controller grip add-on for the Vita Slim from Hori. You can look it up. Look up this RUclipsr named NihongoGamer and he reviews the Vita Slim's controller grip add-on. It's really neat!

Beautiful Vita man! I too recently got my Vita and this color was one of my top choices at first, but I ended up getting the aqua blue one in almost new condition (fortunately). Anyway, hope you're enjoying it! By the way, there's like a sale going on PSN and I would recommend you getting Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Star Wars Battlefront 2 or Elite Squadron for PSP to play on your new Vita.
Nice nice, I definitely like that color on the vita. I chose this color cause I had a silver PSP Slim that came with Daxter years ago, and I wanted to feel nostalgic. Not sure if that makes any sense :)
I'll definitely look into both of those! I've seen Monster Hunter at a couple "mom and pop" shops, so if I see it, I'll pick it up!

I agree, it was definitely a little weird. I haven't looked into it myself. Maybe you're right and it was a refurbished one. Either way, since I've made this video I've had no problems with it whatsoever. So, I'm not too bugged by it.
BladeStormz Saw your comment man! Thanks! Since then I've bought a Vita from Play-Asia as well and I'm very happy with it and the transaction. My guess is your Vita just got nicked at some point during manufacturing or packaging but not refurbished. Thanks for your video, so helpful!

Hey thanks for the awesome video. I just got my silver PSV today and love it, better than black lol ! One tiny thing I notice: when you put the game card in, the cartridge slot flap won't fully closed. After used a few time the edge of the flap does not fit into the body anymore. A small opening appears at the edge, making the top side of Vita not as smooth as the beginning. That flap just kind of bugs me anyway because I have OCD lol. Nothing serious. I want to know if you have similar issue.
I have this on my vita too, i close it with the edge that is facing me to ensure it stays that way
Don't forget!! You can't just charge it with any charging brick. The PS Vita has a specific voltage charge, you can read it on the back of the PS Vitas' charging brick. You can still use other charging bricks, if the voltage is too low on one brick, the PS Vita will not charge as quickly, also if there is a brick that has too high of voltage you could also damage your battery and put more wear and tear on it. When it comes to charging devices the voltage has to be precise, in order to maintain your batteries intended lifespan. I mean people can charge their purchased devices however they want to, but I'm just speaking facts.
just ordered a red one on eBay. only got it cause it was super cheap but I'm hyping myself up by watching all these unboxings and reviews. I wish they reduced the price of their memory cards, or better yet someone made an SD adapter for it like they did with the PSP. anyways nice vid.

Woah I'm sorry to hear that! I'm glad you got your money back though. I would've been pissed if I was in your situation. Keep an eye out on websites like play asia, or even go to a gamestop to just buy one straight up if you have the money for it. Hope everything goes well for you!
BladeStormz thx an honestly I'm just gonna pass on the vita, I don't play games in general and even if I need my fix on the go I still got my hacked PSP. So in the end I ain't mad at all that it was a scam.
Nice nice, a hacked PSP can be just as fun as a Vita in my opinion. I remember when I was little I really wanted to play Super Mario 64 on it lol. Glad it worked out in the end for you though.

nice buy, I bought the oled version instead when I was in Japan :-) the screen is like the one on the Samsung galaxy phones, its the best screen I have in my home xD but yours are lighter and has longer battery life so yea again good buy ;-)
Yeah it pretty much came down to what I wanted more for me. Did I want a nicer screen, but have to potentially spend more money on future charging cables, or get a slightly less good screen but charge it whenever/wherever I want. Plus the button and weight difference.

Sorry for the late response. When I went on the website the specific vita I had chosen (which was the one in the video) had a banner that said it was part of the play-asia spring sale. Or something like that. Not sure how much money I actually saved, since I ended up paying $200.00 for the vita itself plus another 20 for express shipping.

Sorry for the late response, I'm not sure if you've decided yet.
I would say find a color you want and buy it from a trustworthy site for a decent price. The slim model does come in more flashy or bright colors than the "phat/original" model, but you have to import them since the U.S only got normal colors like black or silver. If you like the glacier white vita, and you found a trustworthy seller on amazon, I'd say go for it! Hope this helped!

The only issue with imported Vita units from Japan, is that the X and O button functions are switched in games but Idk if its a rumor????

Usually those models run at 3.50 from the box. When I bought a new model, 3.50 was the firmware
On the play-asia.com website i saw a slim vita that said asian version and another one with exact same color but said japan version wich one did you get or i should get?
The region doesn't matter. PS Vita's are not region locked so it doesn't matter where you buy it from. I'd say get the cheaper one (one might cost more depending on shipping costs) and if they're both the same price, flip a coin I guess.

Sorry for the late reply, I don't know if you've decided by now but I'll still give you my 2 cents. Uh, I'd say pick your favorite color? Or if you like ALL of them, pick the one that you think won't know many finger prints? I know a lot of people that choose certain colors so that they wont look dirty or show fingerprints on them after a long time. Hope that helped a little!

To be honest, it sort of already IS discontinued. You can't go to a Walmart or Best Buy and pick one up. The only way to buy one is either, go to a Gamestop (or another game store) and buy one used, OR, go online and buy it there.
There are still games being made for it though, and the PSN store on it still has sales all the time! Definitely go out and buy one if you're interested!

Sorry for the late reply, I really hope I'm not too late in answering this.
I'd say it really depends on how you buy your games. If you don't really buy too many digital games, I'd say an 8Gb memory card is perfect. Vita save files are pretty small as is, and at least with 8Gb you can still buy a game or two digitally. If you buy both physical AND digital, I'd say either the 16 or the 32 (remember to keep your budget in check too, higher sizes cost more). Hope I could help!

The Slim Version actually comes with 2GB of memory built in actually! But it's also probably to keep the Vita under $200.

You can find them on Play Asia, Amazon, and eBay like you said. Although there's a lot more places you can find them but, those are the big 3 that are trustworthy. Just make sure that if you do find one on eBay or Amazon, read everything CAREFULLY! Cause there's been people here in the comments that said they got scammed by sellers. So read the reviews from other buyers to make sure its the real deal. If you still need some help, send me a tweet!

hmm..depends on which version of the Vita it is. If its a slim, I'd say that's a really good deal since you'll only spend another $20 or so on a memory card. The slim comes with 2GB of built in storage, while the original does not. So if it IS the original, AND it's in good shape, I'd say its a great deal! But you won't be able to save your games unless you buy a memory card, so make sure to do that ASAP if its the original model.

Yes! The Persona games are seriously amazing!! I'm playing through Persona 5 right now and I absolutely love it. If you like RPG's or visual novels, I strongly recommend you try it out!
