Went to dealer - parts weren't here yet. Going back next week hopefully. Had more issues on our last trip which i'll cover in those vlogs. I'll do a full recap once I get it fixed, stay tuned.
The lack of gap between the roof and the tent honestly is the biggest visual improvement, extra clearance is awesome too! Looks so much better like that, and I'll be shocked if you don't notice the difference offroad.
Casey bro, you could've used your winch to lift your tent a little with bit while working, with a support of a big tree branches nearby😃😃. Anyway you did it and managed to drop down your vehicle height a couple of inches and that's a great news. Hope you enjoy the coming up trip and hope you don't have any vehicle issue again. Good luck and stay safe.
Ever take a look at a smaller rooftop tent setup? Such as the Go Fast Campers Superlite? Would definitely help reduce the top heavy CG and would reduce the height as well
Thanks for sharing such extensive detail, Casey! I do wish you’d shown the spreader bars and greater detail as to how the tent attaches to the bars/rails.
Nice job Casey. Been looking at either a Wrangler or gladiator. Decided on a hybrid maverick. Doing to much commuting. 40 mpg highway..someday I'll get there. Going to keep watching my favorite islander.
Get yourself a small, used forklift. If it's ugly, you can paint it white and slap your channel's decals on it. Just get a cheap one and it'll make lifting the tent on and off easier by a factor of about 100 percent.
@@Casey250 thanks Casey. Would you still get the ecodeisel? We almost went with the 4xe but we just didnt enjoy the way it shifted from electric to gas - could have been my driving.
Where did you get the spreader bars from? I have a metal cloak on order to mount my iKamper on top of and was trying to figure out how I was going to actually attach it with out adding more height with traditional cross bars...
Hey Casey I just saw your long term ownership recap and you talked for a brief moment about GVW and did a little research and I have read it can only go under a 800 lbs of load and that’s without account for people or any type of mods so my question for you is are you worried about GVW. Because I’m getting to the position where I will be able to buy a JL Rubicon EcoDiesel and the GVW has gotten me a little worried about mods and even putting my family in it anything would be much appreciated sorry for the book in the comments
The gvw is definitely a point of contention. With properly upgraded suspension and steering components I am less concerned, but would stick to the Rubicon with the stronger brakes from the factory.
Can you tell me about your lift kit, roof top tent, what they're worth & where did you buy them? I live in Thunder Bay Ontario & would like a decent Jeep accessory dealer in Canada that has good prices. I heard you mention Metal Cloak. Thanks Casey.
@@Casey250 I can understand that. However I learned a long time ago when I wanted to purchase a tripod, “Buy once, cry once”. I’ve run across so many photographers that have purchased a half dozen tripods over the years. All of the cumulative costs add up to one good one, not to mention all the time spent researching and shopping for the “best deal”… BTW, my one Really Right Stuff tripod is still working flawlessly twelve years later.
@@hughwolfe1176 Generally I only buy the best of things, on the flip side I have nearly $100k in this Jeep already. I will probably shift to less overlanding and more of a mix of overlanding and destination off roading renting houses once the border is open again... and maybe a new build :)
Hey Casey, have you been able to use your soft top since putting on the roof rack and RTT? Have you consider just going with a hard top and the rhino back bone to keep it tight.
I have, but I love rolling around safari style all summer. Also hard tops are super expensive and I don't have one. Maybe on the next Jeep but Safari is grat.
Casey or really anyone here. You own a diesel JLU, and I'm currently completely torn on the purchase of the diesel vs alt options. I'm not here to ask you should I get the vehicle, but more so, how has your experience been when it comes to finding diesel in remote places? How big of a concern is that for you, and if it is a concern how are you overcoming this?
I ordered mine roughly 3weeks ago the crossbar you installed is so awesome it was not an option on website when I ordered. Do you know the part number and cost by any chance?
Casey got a preproduction mounting setup. Prety much these grab the bottom of the rails and clamp the RTT down to the front to back bars. These will be available very soon.
There is no possible way for the soft top to be opened. It pops up almost 2 feet into the air when you open the Jeep soft top. He can pull the rear window and both side panels off the soft top and run it safari mode.
That's a significant drop in height ! How much extra would you lose by airing down before going on the ferry, that and a lower profile rooftent might get you to that 7ft mark 🤞
Looks like a great improvement and definitely the way it sits, is more appealing to the eye. Good job Casey!
What happened with the engine problems from the prior video?
Threw a rod. This is a new Jeep...
@@thereissomecoolstuff for real?

I barely even notice the RTT up top when wheeling.

Yep! That’s waaaay better! 👍 looks like it’s supposed to be!

Those are nice tents but good luck getting one within a year.
Honestly I don't notice the weight up top at all and this a couple of inches wouldn't matter.

Looks a lot better! Good job!!!
Casey, I can't find those spreader bars / cross bars on the ARS site. Do you have a part number?
Looks great Casey! Super clean look.
It honestly just looks a bit awkward, kind of miss matched....i dunno maybe a hardtop would make it look more put together.....
Casey, just air down for the ferry! lol
🥓🥌🥌
to zero psi haha
I like it,makes the Jeep more streamlined
With handle (welded?!) it's compatible with snorkel or must cut?
Great info! Thanks for sharing
It looks like a beast Casey dont lower please 👏
The height looks so much better!
Looks way better with the new bars.
so you mounted a tube handle onto a tube... is there a reason why you couldn't just grab the frame itself?
Its far easier to grab then a 2in tube and the location is more convenient. Necessary.. Im not sure. Do i like it.. yep.
Looks good! Can't wait for the rock mountain adventure vids
Coming soon! It was epic.
Great improvement.👍
Thanks
It looks a bit better now
Are you going to try to get it a bit lower ?
That is as low as it can go with out taking the RTT off.
Get yourself a small, used forklift. If it's ugly, you can paint it white and slap your channel's decals on it. Just get a cheap one and it'll make lifting the tent on and off easier by a factor of about 100 percent.
I kind of want to do this now lol.
Good job Casey 2fitty!!
Casey. Sorry if you have answered this already. But what was the solution for the diesel engine problems mentioned in the last vlog?
Still waiting on parts. Going in this week. New emissions system and harness.

Metal cloak. The are pre production. Should be out shortly.

Love the front platform!!.. does it obscure the windshield washers?
Not at all
Casey it does look better lower. Do you ever use the Hi-Lift attached to your bumper?
I just put it back on as I thought I might.
I've had my Garvin adventure for almost a year and it mounts like yours but sits just enough to remove the freedom panels and remove the hardtop
Looks way better, do you still have the red Jeep? I still like watching those videos.
Thanks and yes I do, I need to fix a few things and I want to wheel it on the island in the fall when it isn't so dry.

Teraflex Alpine control arms, Clayton Off road 3.5in overland springs, and Freespirit Evolution rooftop tent.
Looks great!
How big are your tires? Did you ever consider going with a shorter lift and smaller tires?
37in. and no, id rather go bigger haha
Why not just use the Ursa Minor top and be done with it?

Not at all. It's absolutely PERFECT!!!
The grab handles you added are kinda redundant don't you think? Why not just grab the bar you mounted them to LMAO!
Testing them out, but honestly after the weekend adventure, they are handy.
Push those wheels out, at inch or 2
The police here would never let me roll like that.
Not to mention you will have a hard time getting through the Starbucks drive through
HAHAHA
That's a significant drop in height ! How much extra would you lose by airing down before going on the ferry, that and a lower profile rooftent might get you to that 7ft mark 🤞
The rails are at about 7 foot, i'd have to dump the RTT all together.
@@Casey250 that's annoying !
Gobi rack was way cooler bro @casey250
It was not working on a soft top.
I went with #exposedracks to keep it lower. I am using the fsr evolution too. Add me to see mine. Our rigs are similar.
Get the JK out!!!!
Ya too tall...... trails I go on would have to turn around........ let alone can't side hill with that stuff up there..... just set up a tent bud!
Where we go, a RTT is really nice to have and this is great for exploring. I have a JK for crazy off road trails.
