I started a pillow cover with this type of yarn. I got several inches done and couldn’t really see the stitches well and the sides started looking wonky so I didn’t finish it. With the method you are showing, I think I can do it now! Thank you, Robin. Your tutorials are the best! 😍🧶
I've been crocheting for 50 years &, even though I love the looks of finished projects, I've been avoiding this yarn like the plague because of the aggravation of working with it after making a pom pom on a gnome's hat on an afghan. I think now, thanks to you, I'm going to give making an afghan out of it a try...when I can afford the yarn that is.
I remember the first time I used faux yarn I had to restart my project like 50 times then I did the absolute tedious thing and started stitch marking every single stitch until I got the hang of it. It was a big pain in my ass but it made me learn quickly because I was getting annoyed with using 100 stitch markers. I ran out of stitch markers at one point and was using safety pins bobby pins binder clips anything that helped me see where my stitches were. Good times. Now I know how to feel for them or use a guide yarn which is usually my first choice. Thanks for the amazing video with equally amazing advice ❤❤
holy crap this is the video i didn’t even know i needed! i have faux fur yarn left over from adding fluffy bits to crochet toys. i’d just accepted that i’d not be able to use it for a blanket cause it was too hard. omg THANK YOU! 🩵🩵xx
I bought some Himalaya Koala yarn a while ago and couldn't crochet with it but since watching this video and you saying to use 4 ply yarn when doing the chain stitches and then feeling the gaps for the rest I am now in the process of making a scarf so thank you for this tutorial for faux fur yarn, my scarf is looking and feeling so nice.
Thanks for doing this video. I have used this type of yarn before & found it to be very difficult to work with. I don’t remember what stitch I was using but am willing to try it once again after seeing this video. I look forward to using this faux fur as a trim on a stocking cap.
Thanks for the useful tips! It would be so helpful to know how much a square foot weighs made using this yarn, your half doubles, and 12mm hook as an aid to calculating yarn needed for a project.
Better you than me! My daughter made a red neck scarf for my Mom from this type hairy stuff! It was for her purple/red getup for Red Hat ladies meetings! Lol. No idea how she managed to finish it, but it looked great!
You make it look so easily doable and I can actually feel the softness of the fur, so am sorely tempted to give it a try. The heart is willing enough, but my brain tells me to steer clear of the yarn because I won't have the patience to get through the project. 😢 Maybe at some future date I will have the courage to give it a try. Thanks for another great video!❤
I started a shawl, but not see stitches so I frogged it and grabbed my knitting needles instead and it came out beautifully. Now I will need to try again
Robin, I wish I had the patience to do this lovely blanket, I can almost feel the comfort and luxury of the yarn. Alas, it will drive me mad, I felt my brain melting while watching you crochet 😂😂 can I buy yours please 😂😂 I have just started a blanket for my foster granddaughter using the last stitch you demonstrated. I love this blanket you are demonstrating now , I shall add it to my stitch Library, many thanks 🌷🧶🌷 Maria
Thank you so much for this. I'm hoping to add a faux fur trim to a cardigan but was put off by how challenging it seemed. I find it hard enough to crochet with black yarn, let alone anything fluffy. You've given me hope that with a little practice, I could do it. Your tutorials are brilliant.
Thank you sooo much for the great tips. I’ve worked with blanket yarn but never faux fur yarn. I have some in my stash that was gifted to me and was scared of it, lol. Now I’ll give it a go. Yeah❤️
Omg, I spent a small fortune on a bunch of this yarn, only to get frustrated and ended up giving up and giving it away. Wish I knew this method back then. On the plus side though, being spring/summer in Australia, it's way too warm to work with right now. I'll have time to save up for a new stash ready for next winter. 😉
I just got back into crochet (after a long break lol) again, and I came across another wonderful video. I’m excited to try make a noice fluffy blanket ❤
Thanks for this video. The faux fur surely looks (and likely feels) nice. Still, I would rather go to other yarn choices before crocheting with this faux fur. I feel the same with the velvety yarn 😬 With the tips you showed us maybe I should give it a try again 🤔
I'm a sucker for everything soft and fluffy. But I think I'll practice some more with less challenging material 😅 But it's good to know there is a trick to make it doable, if the fancy ever strikes me!
In a blanket or throw blanket for my son’s girlfriend is it in the black colour you have I actually already started it and I found it hard to do chain stitches and feel the stitches so I’ve just told her she has to buy some black yarn or light grey so I can see it .. thanks for your great tips
Are there some brands you recommend for faux fur yarns? Some of these chenille types of yarn have a reputation for falling apart or shedding excessively.
I have used the faux fur when knitting Teddies years ago. I used a thinner yarn to work along with the faux fur and it worked well. Where did you buy this yarn ( the brown) ?
Love super soft blankets? Then you'll LOVE this video next! ruclips.net/video/YjMsiouIHL8/видео.htmlsi=SNp94Lg48ligTa5N 👈😍

Wouldn't that make a lovely trim for a crochet hat 😍 Thank you Robin 😊
It would!😃
Yes it does! ❤️
Certainly makes a beautiful and tactile edging for blankets 😊

It makes fabulous cuffs and collars
Yes!
Yes especially for children
Oh yes, absolute luxury. Could imagine it on the brim of a hat.
Very informative. I just finished a project, a small one. I wish I had seen your video first. I had to feel my way through the project. ☮️🌎🌲
Looks pretty but would drive me nuts trying to make it! You are very patient!

So cuddly!😃
This is fantastic! You covered everything I've wondered about with this yarn.
Thank you!😃🧶
Robin, you’ve given me to gumption, dare I say courage, lol, to work with faux fur yarn. I’ll have to give it a try.
Yessss!🙌 Let me know how you get on.
Thanks for the pattern. I’ve been looking at the new Joann fur yarn wondering what to make with it. The blanket is beautiful.
You are so welcome Susan!😃
Very very beautiful 🎉 thank you Robin💐

I have quite a bit of faux fur yarn, now I can do a project.

Please share what yarn you're using for the sample. My daughter would go crazy for a throw made from that!❤
My blanket (the brown) is Sirdar Alpine in the shade "Brindle" and the coloured one is Scheepjes Furry Tales in the shade "Unicorn" 😀
Vielen Dank das war ein sehr hilfreiches Video 👍🥰

WTF I had NO idea there was even such a yarn !!! wow
It's quite expensive but SOOOO soft, like the back of a kittens ear!
@@HookedbyRobin its beautiful but...I think its outta my league of crocheting...
Who invented this stuff . the thought is lovely , the process not so much!
@@sylwitcha5325 I will not even try because I made a vow to only enjoy crochet !!!!

Obsessed!
I have used the faux fur when knitting Teddies years ago. I used a thinner yarn to work along with the faux fur and it worked well. Where did you buy this yarn ( the brown) ?
I got mine from Wool Warehouse online but I know a lot of yarn shops carry the faux fur type yarns :)
@@HookedbyRobin was it the sheepes yarn?
@@TheCatlady63 the brown is Sirdar Alpine
@@HookedbyRobin okay thanks
This is great! I've never tried to do this but want to. Is the yarn you are using the "Sheepies" Furry Tales Unicorn?
It is yes!
Beautiful 🌺🌻🍀🌸🪻
Thank you Luna!😃

Awesome 👍🏾❤❤
Thank you! 😃
Bravo Ms Robin ❤ im too chicken lol hi Steve!
😂
I nearly lost my mind crocheting an amigurumi bunny with Lion Brand Go For Faux. It turned out gorgeous, but it was a huge pain.
🐐 🐐 🐐 🎉
🥰
I’m a chicken I would never be able to do this 😂😂
😅
I know now never to use faux fur!!!
