    I was disappointed to see that the pattern wasn't free. HOWEVER! Sometimes when things are free we don't value them as much as when we pay for them and paying for the pattern will hopefully motivate me to be tenacious and stick with it. Thank you for all your hard work in making this. Can I say I wish it was your job and it's all you did....?! Be our knitting teacher?! Haha. I loved learning how to fix problems that may come up or avoid them all together, such as with the lifeline. That really has been what has stopped me from trying. I ended up ripping it out a few years ago and knitting it correctly because it never really fit properly. I am now knitting an all over cable cardigan. There are so many different ways to knit sweaters now. I like the top down patterns as you can try them on as you go. I am going to make this sweater and watch your video as i go. Thank you so much for this. I did the Flax sweater watching a RUclipsr from Britain step by step but I did a size with 6 inch positive ease which Andrea Moary says she likes in her sweaters . Way too much for me because I am a 44 bust and was like 50 wide across. Was way too big. It wore me lol. I did do a cotton tee this last summer and turned out well. Just practiced a vest with a cheap acrylic yarn to practice and it is ok but hate the fabric but knew it was more to learn without investing too much on a possible mistake. I need to learn to do a bit of decreasing in the sides so it doesn’t look like a tent. I am not new to knitting but fitted garments yes except can knit socks. I am learning to go down in size more than I thought. Yarn stretches too. Looking forward to knitting this with you. I am too intimidating to take a pattern read it and understand everything for a fitted sweater. Yay 😁 Judy

So I've been knitting cowls for dogs and lots of dishcloths, really enjoying myself, but I think I'm ready to take on a bigger project. I'm just about to order the yarn online, sadly no local shop which stocks Drops and want to ensure I order all the bits I need for the project.
    I only have 4inch tips with the ginger set, should I order the longer tips?
    Should I get DPNs?
    I have cables and stitch markers, needles, scissors tape measure etc.
    Anything else you would recommend?

    Hi Clo - I wonder if I could ask you a question, please? I'm in the 7th repeat of my raglan increases (knitting 10 repeats in total) and noticed some weirdness going on in one of the sections when I was knitting and thought I had dropped stiches so 'picked up' what I thought were the dropped stitches and continued on. I counted the stitches in the section once I'd got to the end of it and have discovered I have two more than I should have (should have 44 but have 46) I think there may have been some yarn overs somewhere which threw me (I saw loops at the back of my work and thought I may have dropped stitches). How should I decrease these extra stitches? I am reluctant to continue with the round until I've fixed the stitches. Any help gratefully received! :)

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits Месяц назад +1

      There are 2 options: if you don't mind that these "mistakes" stay in the work, you can simply do a decrease at the beginning and end of that section on the first row of the body or the sleeve (depending on were the mistakes are), it won't show much since it's in the armpit area. If the mistakes are distracting you from enjoying the sweater, I would undo below were there are extra stitches to start again from that point. I can tell you if it were me, I would probably keep going and call it a feature ;)

      @@cloknits Thanks so much for your reply. I ended up tinking back 1.5 rounds (that was not a pleasant experience with this Drops Air yarn!) and finding the issues - which were indeed yarn overs - and correcting them. I've since made another mistake along one of the raglan seams (in the front, sods law!) and so it is a tad wonky but I decided to 'fudge' it and it looks fine enough tbh! I'm almost at the point where I am doing the rib hem now and have learned a lot during the process. Thanks so much for your great tutorial, it is really good to be able to have a video tutorial alongside the pattern - so helpful. :)

      I suggest you find a pattern that uses the right yarn weight since the designing process is quite intricate and adapting this one will take more than a simple calculation. You can still use this video as a road map to knitting a raglan but using the numbers you find in a different pattern.

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits 2 месяца назад

      For the fit, I would probably make it with a bit less ease and I would change the twisted rib for a regular 1x1 rib. Raglans fit everyone and this sweater doesn't have waist or hip shaping so it's a good unisex choice.

    • @nonifidler4547

      Yes, you can do the WPI to give you an idea. It's not super precise but it's a start. Same thing for folding the yarn and feeding it through a needle gauge. The most important thing is always to do a swatch with a few different needles to check which one makes sense as a fabric.

    Hi, beginner knitter here. Im really confused about these two things: You said to soak in hot water (this yarn is not supposed soaked and not supposed to be in water over 30°C) - and, you didnt use magic loop for the collar, but had really stretched out stitches on the too big cable, doesnt this alter the fit of the entire sweater? - apart from this, thanks for the other advice and explanations in the video :)

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits 2 месяца назад

      Hi! For the washing part, brand put a temperature on mostly to stop people from putting it in a washing machine at high temperature which would felt due to friction + heat. The heat itself doesn't hurt the garment, I prefer it because it makes the yarn bloom beautifully. If you are weary of hot water you could always put at room temp, no problem. For the soaking, I have no idea, I've never seen mentionned to not soak a natural fiber... As for the collar, it turned out great. The nylon in this yarn makes it so it doesn't stretch too much and the blocking part is where I make sure the whole garment dries in the shape I want. You couldn't definitely do magic loop though and it would assure that you don't stretch anything too much.

    Hi Clo, i'm plannig on knitting this sweater but i want to try to add colorwork to it. I've seen some colorwork tutorials and the increases on the yoke are done, for example, every 3 stitches or so (like in this tutorial ruclips.net/video/yDuiJhBOiD4/видео.htmlsi=RW1kTNznPngu-py2 the increases on the yoke are every X stitch and not before/after stitch markers as in raglan construction), so my question is if it's possible to make a raglan colorwork sweater and if so, how can i add the colorwork chart to the yoke without messing up the increases? i'm a new knitter so i'm not sure if raglan sweaters and colorwork get along well or if i should just do increases every X stitch as in the tutorial i linked. Thank you!
    By the way, thanks for the effort you put in making this video for us new knitters!❤

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits 26 дней назад +1

      Hi! Colorwork is usually worked on a round yoke because it's easier to create a chart with consistent increases. If you want to make a raglan colorwork, you'll have to make seam lines and adjust the chart so it grows on either side of those 4 seams. Am I making sense? Depending on the complexity of the chart it can be easier or more difficult. Here is a search that will let you see what it looks like: www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#pa=raglan-sleeve%2Bstranded&sort=best&view=captioned_thumbs

Then every number is a size, the brackets are just a visual aid for you to find your indications faster in the pattern. So you would probably be the 1st size (which I put between ** down below) for 10cm of positive ease, or 2nd size if you want 17cm of positive ease.

      (40, 43, 47) (49, 51, 55) (58, 61, 63) (65, 68, 70)” / (*102*, 109, 119) (124, 130, 140) (147, 155, 160) (165, 173, 178) cm
