  • I started using Blender when I was 14 years old. I'm now 21. I really love watching these progress videos, so I decided to upload one myself, when I discovered my old renders on my old laptop. Enjoy!

    It's weird how every artist it seems has that one point in time where something clicks and you just start getting exponentially better.

      Happened to me in web development (PHP), after a certain amount of "messing around" you get a good enough understanding of how the language / software works, and your entire approach / thinking changes.
      Getting into Blender now, hope I can get this good !

      @@kanjirogaming I've also found the more avenues you explore, like coding, then digital art, then whatever, expands your knowledge of all your skills. It's really crazy.

      Happened for me in lockdown - I could make stuff but it was all trial and error, bloated models and messy work, I was poor at polymodeling and used to sculpt stuff that would be easily done with about 100 quads and a subdivision, spent a couple of weeks practicing modelling things and it was like I became fluent. It's so rewarding when it does click.

    This might be a silly question but the sequence of the x-wings flying over the ocean, how big was that scene? was it to world scale? i'm working on a scene where a car is travelling along a highway next to the ocean and im unsure on how to start it.

    • @malteullrich8813

      Hey, sorry for the late reply. If I remember correctly, I scaled the ocean plane up quite a lot. If Iwfould do it today though, I would probably look for a way, that just the part of the ocean plane is visible, which is also seen from the camera.

    This is crazy bro, when you switched to Maya, was that switch painful to you or not?

    • @malteullrich8813
      @malteullrich8813  3 года назад +3

      I already tried it a year before that, and yes, at the time I found it difficult, because I was used to Blender. You don’t have a mirror or array modifier in Maya, which really bothered me at the time. But some day I started watching an artist (Andrew Hodgson) streaming modelling with Maya on Twitch. Seeing him work on an asset really made me want to use it myself again. I watched his stream for two months before getting into Maya myself again. This time it was so much easier, because I did not expect everything to be exactly like in Blender.
      So if you want to get into Maya, I would recommend to just watch Maya stuff for some time. Not necessarily tutorials, but just artists you like, working in the program.

      @malteullrich8813  3 года назад

      @@fusionresolved I definitely think it can hold up and I would stick to it, if you like it. If you want to get a job in the Film Industry, you probably have to learn Maya too. But that does not mean you can’t use Blender for your own Projects.
