Nice setup and great video! ❤️ my DDMK18. I have a similar rig, more old school though. I'm rocking a KAC lower too, love their roll mark 👍 It's been my go to for 5 years now. Just got the RC2 out of jail a few months ago. I was also lucky to find a full power peq15. Probably have way too much crap hanging off of it, but it all has a purpose (don't tell Nutnfancy) I'm sticking with the quad rail as I will always love the old GWOT tools. I'll be subscribing to your channel as well. Look forward to more MK18/Clone content 👍
Very good point on the light... I have a somewhat similar mk18 set up for home defense with a double magazine as well, and I'm planning on using it only for self defense so no light needed in my case, I always have flashlights around me if needed the case I can always reach for one, but 100% right on self defense you ambush, you don't go looking therefore get ambush, unless it's a hostage situation and you have to go rescue that's a whole new game. Nice rifle 👍👍👍
Ehh, you might as well mount a flashlight. Just put it on the opposite side of whichever side you shoulder the rifle with and use your thumb to activate it when you need to.

I love the fact that your going thru talking about why your building out the rifle the way you have. Been thinking about the Unity mount because I have a huge noggin and James was off the I opinion that it might be a good fit for that reason.
The holdover is different you have to hold off just a bit more but I really like it. Passive heads up shooting is the new future
@@TheLastAmericanOutlaw certainly seems more comfortable, also assuming your controlling any recoil enough to have good follow up shots. But that's just working your mechanics and doing the thing.

I recently shot a MK18 full auto and it was glorious… when I was in the market I went V7S but I understand that the MK18 has a more rigged rail. I do like the new MK18 with the R3 rail.
I get what you mean with the safety, I have an Airsoft knights sr25 with the ambidextrous fire select, it has the shaved off thing also.

I disagree that a 10.3 inch barrel is better than the 11.5 for the average, everyday shooter. That extra dwell time on the 11.5 is going to let you run cheaper and crappier ammo and maintain reliability.
That may be true but the 10.3 works, I still say if you have it run it.
The difference for an average shooter is irrelevant, you get shot at 5 yards or 50 with 556 from a 10.3 or 14.5 same outcome, hit a major organ n you won't have a story to tell. Ballistics are like the odds yes very diferent in numbers but from a 10.3 to an 11.5 ain't the same as a 10.3 to a 20 inch. Come on, huge margins ... everyone knows the longer the better Ballistic wise but not a world of diff

Anything over that you better hope you had Chris Kyle on a sniper rifle leaving multiple insta post how he was gonna end you night of. Ppl use their imagination to buy & build different set ups but odds of using certain ones slim to none. A 10.3 is the best option for a civilian protecting their home. I mean I guess one could make a argument if you live in the country far off the road with long shots but come on let’s be serious. End of the day get what you want & set it up. They all will do work even if you’re a dummy.

someone watches GBRS group. lol mk 18 has been out since 2000. mod 1 came out in 07 or 08. i was issued one of the first ones right before gwot kicked off. nice rifle and cool set up. ur gonna love the cgs can. nothing like it on the market.

Dude if you wanted sound suppression and have super silent, you should’ve got the 300 blackout version. No suppressor is really going to get a 5.56 to hearing safe decibel range… but hey, if you do, I’d love to see it! No hate just love here brother
I have a 300 blackout, it’s not super silent just a Hollywood myth. I want the edge off, have you shot a 10.5 with out muffs? Hoe about ever shot in a house ? It’s shocking, I want to help that all I can. There isn’t a perfect answer but Surefire is one of the louder ones, cgs is a lot more quiet.

To be honest, I just shoot.
PRI m84 gas buster seems to work pretty good for me... although I do get gassed out doing mag dumps.

That's not an L3/Harris LA5. The LA5 has different adjustment turrets on the illuminator side of the housing and two safety lockout screws. It is either a full power PEQ-15 or an ATPIAL-C. If its a full power PEQ-15, then its good to go. If its an ATPIAL-C, the illuminator is utterly useless most of the time. They can't put out illumination beyond about 75 to 100 yards in ideal conditions. On a bright, moonlit night you may not see the illuminator's beam at all beyond 25 yards or so. Indoors, the beam pattern is too tight, but it does throw off enough illumination for CQB inside a house.
If its an ATPIAL-C, I'd suggest getting a Surefire Vampire to supplement it or going with a BE Meyers MAWL C1+ or a DBAL-D2 instead of the ATPIAL-C as their LED based illuminators actually provide similar functionality to the higher power stuff. The ATPIAL-C literally has the worst illuminator of all of the civilian market IR illuminator and laser combinations. Other options like the DBAL-A3 and DBAL I2 aren't much better, but at least you can focus their illuminators which makes them better indoors and push slightly further than the ATPIAL-C outdoors.

Not to be that guy but what’s the point of dropping $1500-2000 on a base model ar15 platform and still upgrading throughout when you could’ve built an base ar15 platform for $400-600 and then upgrade for performance internals (AGB, BCGs, Grips, Sights, barrel etc etc) lmao it averages out cheaper everytime, waste of money.

I'm old school because I still favor Colt 10.3s . I built my first Colt MK18 in 2007 or 2008 . The MOD 0 was my go too Rig for 7 or 8 years . It drives me crazy when people say TDP Colts aren't reliable or out dated. Colt MK18 , LE6945 and FBI HRT will always be my 3 favorite Colts .
I've never understood why people say the 11.5 is so much better or 11.5 is so much more reliable . Well their Enstein 10.×" Carbines have been used since Nam and MK18 has been in service for 20+ years so I'm very sure its reliable . Operators wouldn't use it if they couldn't trust it . Millions upon Millions of rounds have been ran through MK18s .
Iwas rocking MK18 before DD even made theirs and before people thought they were cool . DD didnt even start making complete MK18 URG or Carbine until 2012ish time period .
Crane Spec Colt or DD MK18 are bad ass rigs that will always be top choice for CQB environments . Especially paired with good ammo .
One of my dream / bucket List guns is Colt Canada L119A2 10" . I freaking wish we could get our hands on some Diemaco/Colt Canada Uppers , parts or guns .
Either way I 1000% agree that MK18 is hard to beat even to this very day . Even though that Colt MK18 MOD 0 CQBR is 20+ years old . I bet it still can out shoot 80% of what's on the market today..

@@TheLastAmericanOutlaw I would much rather have Quad RAIL. The rugged MLOK rails like Geissele , Wedgelock , or MI NIGHT-FIGHTER Rails are literally the exact same weight as Quad RAIL. My 12" C4 Quad is 14oz and my 13" M76 is 14oz .
Using quality bomb Proof rail is always going to weight a little bit more . I dont run NV but I do love CLOUD OWL . That sucker is a bomb Proof tank .
Under 8.5 pounds fully loaded is a good weight for Carbine with Optic , sling , can , BUIS and Light .

I know, right?! A lot of these gun RUclipsrs will over exaggerate how many rounds they put down range a year. I was just watching a video of a guy that said he put over 10,000 rounds through his Palmetto State Armory AR-15 yet the gun looked brand new and there was not a scratch on it.
