  • Covering Gray Hair With Roux Fanci-Full - Test And Review
I used to play with the Roux Fancy-Full rinses back in the day (twenty years ago) when I had blond hair and needed to tweak the color. But I haven't played with them since my hair turned silver. Here is one option to cover your gray temporarily as you grow it out or just want to be blonde for a night! The colors I am showing today are Golden Spell and Lucky Copper.

I LOVE THIS!!! How fun! Another plus for grey hair - the use of washout color for a nice change!!! I might use the Copper during the holidays! When I was coloring my hair medium brunette, before Roux came out with the mousse formula, I used the liquid to cover my white roots. But I had an idea that made the liquid soooo much easier to use: I bought a little spray bottle from Wal-Mart and filled it with the Roux liquid! It was then a breeze to part my hair, spray on the color and rub in into my roots (keep a paper towel handy for drips) and finally comb it through. If I recall correctly, the liquid was more pigmented than the mousse...but you can't apply too much because the hair can hold only so much liquid. But I suppose you could soak the hair, let it dry a bit then apply more for a full color change....? Thank you, Monique, for another great video!!! 🌹

Monique, you are just a joy and a hoot to watch! It's like checking in with a gal pal for advice and opinions! Your videos are my favorite, hands down. I am a 60 year old fashionista with some gray in a corporate job and I have been amusing myself by trying some fun temp colors on my hair. I find that my millennial friends and colleagues love it, and the majority of my "contemporaries" don't quite get it...which means I must be still on trend! Thanks for proving over and over that "mature" can still be "hip"! Btw, I am also a long time user of the Roux Fanciful line....since my 20's (in the late 70's) when the White Minx color was recommended to me to tone the brassy gold of my DIY highlights to a cooler, ashier tone. That was in the days before the mousse formula, just the liquid was available. I have used several of the blonde shades over the years, but think I will give the Lucky Copper mousse a shot over my current medium/dark ash blonde hair. I actually like the translucent result you got with it, and agree with the other comments that it looks Rose Gold on you. In fact, it had a subdued, dusty, rose gold effect and reminded me of some of the greyish, dusty, rose gold and mauve effects that Guy Tang has created lately. Keep up the good work, you ROCK!

Wanted to comment on this I am a natural red head I use this always I only use it to darken my red hair and it turns out beautiful better than going to beauty shop I think maybe cause your hair is blonde that why it turn out pink so anyone who has red hair and just wants to cover your roots or a brunette to add warm arburn highlights this is amazing product I love it

Thanks for your review and test I have no heard of these products but I think they would be great for enhancing a faded colour in between salon visits and getting an extended time in between salon visits too. I like the ash blond best but your silver best of all. I love red hair colours but they fade so fast on my hair but this copper one would be great for that I think. Love seeing those cats - Happy Wednesday Monique xoxo Vivienne

I heard you do make a commitment with Roux on platinum hair. My hair dresser (who is a genius) told me it would stain my very very white hair until it grew out (I washed my hair everyday with a stripping shampoo) and she was right. Lesson learned. Monique still has a lot of pigment in her hair.

You are so funny Monique...Your subscribers are rocketing! I've been silver since March. I had a really short pixie crop to cut out the bleached ends(toned silver) to get it back to natural(first time since the age of 14). I'm having a bad week with the silver now the cuts growing out. It will look amazing long...looks good really

If you wanted more red, can you apply more mousse and blow dry it again? I’m gray just like you. I would love to find a 3/4 wig or full on wig that I could match when I use the lucky copper or any other temp rinses.
What color reddish ash blonde wigs are out there to match our type of gray when using temp rinses/mousses? Thanks for all you do!!!

You spoke of your box of hair I would love to see all of it. I have Gray/mostly white hair went natural years ago. My hair is long and I love it. I get so many compliments on it but I certainly do not know how to play and have fun with it as you do. I'm learning a lot from you. By the way I am in my 70's and it has always been tabu in this area of the country for women over 40 to have long hair. I love breaking the rules. Keep up the good work! 😃

Off topic, but a new discovery for me today that I wanted to share. If you've in or near a big city, some of the larger Bed Bath and Beyonds sell cosmetics! A nice, big, well stocked cosmetics are that has all the usual drug store brands, and some of the minor brands, as well. And those $5/20% off coupons can be used! Got a sack full of goodies for $20. Just a tip I wanted to pass along.

Hi, Monique!! Thank you so much for sharing your results! As well as testing products. I haven't colored my hair for several years so I could embrace my silver, grey & white hair! Lol however, I have been using clairol shimmer lights for well over a year, but didn't know I wasn't supposed to use it every time I shampooed! There was a lot of purple deposit in my hair. Thanks to your sharing your journey and techniques, I went for it: I showed my stylist a pic from the Internet and bleached it all!! Thanks to all the purple deposit, my hair was double processed on top with grey/silver color around the bottom sides and back. (Shocked everyone at home and work!lol) I am determined to have fun with it! I have alot of gold/yellow going on, but responded well when I washed and used blonde conditioner with a little purple in it. (I still have to update my profile pic ;) I really appreciate your time and efforts!! Big huggs!!!! Sue

I'm still doing the double-take when i pass a mirror! Lol yes, i do!! i need to go to Sally's and pick up the Blue Steel toner; ;) btw do you still bleach your hair or is the toner enough to keep your lovely blue-white hair?
      Have a great weekend!!!

That was a good review. I use the Fanci Full rinse before I get out of the shower (less messy that way). But I think maybe the mousse gives better coverage.
It'll be fun for you to switch up the color once in a while. I like your silver hair the best though.

I'm looking all over for the Fan Funding icon and can't find it. Will you locate if for us? I'm on Chrome browser and the little 'i' I see is one for autoplay, next video. You are gorgeous and I'm enjoying your videos, I have white hair.. I don't look like the picture on this comment page any more. I started letting it go 'white, not so much grey, about 7 years ago when the real estate market started a down-slide (I'm a Realtor). Regarding going from your 'fake' color to natural, I used several products for the transition, I had thought I was a natural blonde because the gal who colored my hair made it look that way, BUT, my funds suffered and I went natural... white. Anyway, the product I settled on was Joan RIver's Great Hair Day. I still use it but now they have a WHITE one and I use it only on any 'part' or separation to tone down my PINK! Yes, I said PINK scalp. Her color, BLONDE, is a great blending color and I've used in on my friends of varying hair colors. I have very fine hair also and it is extremely hard to do a decent hair cut in Birmingham, Al. However, recently I met Betsy at the Walmart beauty shop in Pelham, Al and she did a great job.

The fanciful color mousse is to be used more to keep dyed hair more vibrant in between colorings. Using the mousse on hair that is grey or silver won't do much for a color change because it's really not made for covering gray or silver hair. :)

This sounds like a fun way to give a different hair to e without dyeing it. I had my hair died from a light coppery silver natural colour to black with red highlights. We have a Sally Salon close by. Had I known I might of tried these lol. Thought I love the black and red. At our age it is nice to experiment with our hair like this. I just live your personality Monique and you "shake the generous" out of those bottles lol. I loved that e pressing it made me laugh.

I can't wait to see their reaction lol. I have not told them yet. Jessica will love it!
