This is an explanation of the little paper that came with the box. Last I remember, I know how to read. But - NO instructions here on how the CONNECT the device to the internet or not enough information!!!!!
Watch again from 3:40 to the end... It literally explains step by step how to manually set it up to connect the Dot to "the internet" if it won't connect automatically.
When connecting highlight Amazon TFN then hit advanced options and try to switch to WPS. This may be the problem.

Your video saved me from sending back my Echo Dot to Amazon. I was having trouble setting up my echo dot and called the number given on the error msg I kept getting during device setup. The Service rep was useless and kept insisting I let him take over my PC to set up my echo and when I refused he took me thru a bunch of useless steps and blamed the problem on my network settings and hung up on me. I was able to fix the problem using your video. Thank you so much!

same things happening to me. except i cant connect no matter what. im in nz so it explains it. and im also on samsung galaxy A70... im beginning to think its not compatible.

when i go thru the steps to set up the network it tells me internet may not be available. It does show the amazon-XXX to connect but i get the "may not be available" then when I try to connect to it no good. frustrating as .....
Mine just says internet may no be avalable so i cant set it up

Headache these dots, I recent tried to set up a relatives, (I have set up my own before) the problem u have is we sorted app but then didn't gave Internet connection, so sorted connection then lost connection on the app!??
Seems like a vicious circle, seems maybe I need to unplug modem and the dot and start again making sure for connected to Internet first then run through the app?

Main thing is to have your wifi password ready and also make sure the Dot stays in set up mode. Would have been lost without this video
That's the other thing mine did, once I got it in set up mode, it wouldn't stay there. About 30 seconds later the yellow light went out and it said something like, you are no longer in set. Up mode.
Can it work without the Wi-Fi and how far can it reach in a big house
I realize this is a few years old. I lost power during a storm and I'm trying to reconnect to my echo. I had to set mine up manually also. However, when I went to my wifi,. Amazon wasn't there. I waited and it never showed up.
What does the end of the power cord looks like that plugs in to the Dot?

Hi Dear friends. I purchased an Amazon Echo Dot wireless speaker. I can't get from the Amazon Alexa app to connect to Wifi. He reaches halfway and tells me that the password is incorrect from Wifi. But with the phone (iPhone X) I can connect to the Wifi of the Speaker. more than 4 hours and something I struggled and I do not shake. I feel like I'm exploding.

One quick question. In Sony X85J, I enabled Alexa using Echo dot. Getting all commands executed (on, off, volume, pause, play etc) EXCEPT change of channels. It takes the command but DO NOT execute it. Any reason? ? ? Is it not enabled in INDIA??~ Have seen few utube video of outside world, there it works.

I can't find one that the 3.5 mm plug stay in place you have to hold it IN or jiglle to hear

sounds like your jack on the device maybe lose or faulty
its not your heads phones is what it sounds like plus u dont need head phones

Finally, I have a Google Smartspeaker ("hey google"). Appointments, Calendar, Setting Reminders, & accessing telephone contacts can only be accessed by ONE VOICE. So voice recognition is a problem! I'm ok with the whole house having access. Is the Echo Dot the same way??

Call amazon support. They will ask for the DSN number on the back of Alexa and register it from their end. Worked for me after almost a year of not connecting to the internet.

I have a echo dot 3 g and it works great.then i got the bright idea of getting a second one so i could have stereo in one room..bad mistake. There is no way i can get them to sync...i have tried it all...duh. well i can always put one at one end of the house and one at the other end.......Thats it.

It's probably telling that you're not connected to Internet, or you need to call your Internet provider or call that Alexa company, they will help you.
