I also appreciated both tutorials you posted about the Q3, it really helped/guided me on the way of using it. Question: do you plan to do a tutorial on the X100VI in the near future?

    Hi!
    Great review as usual.
I have several cameras and I am mainly focused on still photos not video.
However I do like to take casual short videos to record the flavour of the moment. I am not really interested in post processing these videos in F-log or other. I just want to be able to watch high quality videos on my iPad Pro with minimal changes.
Please can you advise or do a short video on best settings compatible with iPad for Q3 and X100vi.
Ipad seems very fussy about what it finds compatible!
I have Q3, X100vi for general everyday shooting and X2 100D for my serious shoots. All great cameras for different occasions.
Watched all your videos on all these cameras, very interesting and helpful, particularly the Dynamic range and Pixel binning video.
    Best regards
    Robert

I enjoy my ZV-1M2 because of the small size. But I carry it in a small pouch which has the Power Bank connected to the Dummy Battery inside the camera. So I have longevity of not worrying about the battery running out. I have a 1tb SD card V30 and can take 4K videos plus Photos. My Q3 is in a Think Tank Speed Changer V3.0 camera case and does the same thing except I have a 512gb V90 SD card. I have the new Dummy Battery for the Q3, Sl2-S and the SL3 whenever I get a hold of one. I shoot more with the Q3 becaused of the 60 megapixels compared to the 20mp of the Sony ZV-1M2. I could care less what size of the sensor it is because if it is good quality in photos and video and good for low light performance than I will use it. I do car logging and traveling more since I retired from the US Postal Service and Loving it. Cheers!

    Great video and explanation.
I had a prior version of the X100 (the F), man that was a great camera, when I look at the photos now I am still amazed about the results of that 1300 euro camera at that time.
The OVF is a great feature and for people who want to enter the Leica M system a great way to get the "rangefinder" like experience.
For me it was the bridge to the Leica Q cameras, Q-P and now the Q3 and of course the output is much better but the price is also 4x as much.
Never the less I would still be happy shooting a X100 now if I had no other choices.
Both cameras are the pinnacle of their brands.
And let's be honest, who is shooting video with those cameras, IMO they could have left it out.
    Excellent video Math.
    Thanks for sharing

Thank you for posting. Very informative in addressing the major differences between the two cameras. The one change I would recommend would be when comparing their relative size. A more fair comparison could have been done if you removed the after market grip from the Q3. Granted the Q3 is still easily a bigger camera, but the height between the two would be more comparable. Ultimately, you get more value with the Fuji (rightly so). Yet, at least in the USA/B&H/Adorama, the Q3 is still in backorder almost a year after being released. Why are customers still wanting the Leica? 😃

En France et je pense en Europe, le Leica est disponible partout à la vente...aucune rupture de stock, contrairement aux X100V et X100VI. J'ai eu le Q3 entre les mains.... même s'il respire la qualité, il est énorme, rien à voir avec un X100VI.

@@user-or6tz1et4v Good to know. Here in the states it is still in backorder status, specially with the big retailers like B&H and Adorama. Tough to look at all the smaller dealers, but last time I checked with Leica-Miami (earlier today), they are still on back order. Interesting how market availability varies. I wonder how it is in Asia/Australia?

What is interesting is that you are comparing 2 high quality cases, with recent technologies and TOP materials and construction. Certainly the Leica is more high-end, but the X100VI is a very serious competitor.
I chose the X100VI (which I have had since the beginning of March) for its compactness (it fits in my jacket pockets) and its weight (and its price!). The X100VI's dials (aperture, speed, ISO, exposure) are a huge plus compared to other cameras.
Concerning the negative points, the lack of original rain resistance is a shame because this requires adding an optical complement and therefore 6mm more on the lens.
The X100VI's menus aren't as easy to use as the Leica's, which are simple, but the body is fully customizable.
If I had had 6,000 euros to spend I would have only bought the X100VI because the Q3 is too big. If I had a lot more money to spend I would have bought both! 🙂

It is possible to buy two adapters, for the X100, one makes it 28mm f2 and the other 50mm f2. I had both for the X100V, I used the 28mm most of the time, however they are quite large and changes the balance of the camera. I never used the 50mm adapter because it was too big. They screw into the filter threads. I found the photos had a little less contrast, to be expected I suppose. I used the back button focus technique and therefore cannot comment on the impact to autofocus.

    • @mathphotographer

I really do not understand whats the point of this comparison. On one side you have one of the best 28mm lenses on the market and on the other side is an average 35mm. One is fullframe, the other aps. It's an absolut useless comparison. If someone has the money to buy a Leica, a Fuji is not an option.

    • @mathphotographer
      @mathphotographer  Месяц назад

Thanks Andreas. I think I made it clear in the video: these two cameras are totally different. I also intentionally avoided to do an image comparison side-by-side because an APS-C sensor against a full frame sensor is a bit delicate although you will find a lot of such comparisons on RUclips. Why I did the comparison is simple: because people ask for it in the same way as many people asked for a comparison of the Leica SL3 vs Hasseblad X2D, kind of same story :) I so far refused to do the latter mentioned but might nevertheless consider since it is interesting and fun too.
