Shin is a such a cool, chill dude. I wanna stop by his place and give his salty balls a try. Yep.
@@DarkMaster706 that escalated quickly
Welp.. I know what to make on my next Tinder date..
😂😂😂
lmfao Eater liking your comment is what makes this even more hilarious
Sk Roules They should pin it for posterity. Or posterior.
He's so gentle. Just hearing him talk it's very calming. Takoyaki!
Bring him back again for more stuff!! Even just to stand in the background and smile in all your videos 😁❤️
For the automatic cookerz remove that center metal lid when turning on the flipper. That lid is to keep filling out of the mechanism, but once it starts flipping and no worries of dropping ingredients, you can take the lid off. No clacking noise.
At a takoyaki party I was at in Japan they had a maker that had a switch that made it shake like crazy, moving all the takoyaki little by little around.
It worked surprisingly well.
Shin had a smile on the WHOLE time lol. What a happy dude
"When you are master, then your balls are perfectly circle" 😂 3:35
That's why Shin is in the verge of cracking up this whole video. He's waiting for her to say it for 2 min...
Yeah I wish my ball were the same size
@@joshevans3452 He was gonna laugh when she said "deeper" as well.
The professional takoyaki guy is so triggered by the automatic machine that he can't help but poke at it by habit.
"maybe a 3" lol Japanese daddy's shade skills are on point
Somebody get this guy on TV regularly for some reason I love his presence and of course I love the normal host, it's the great video
"when you're a master, your balls are perfectly circled." Esther dropping gems
Sometimes just because it's more expensive doesn't mean it's better. The first pan seems like the best choice for this.
Thanks Esther and Shin ! Shin certainly seems very cheerful, I hope to see more of him on this channel.
1:10 "dashi is kind of like soy sauce". You guys should have edited that part better, I'm sure the rest of what he had to say would have been more informative and accurate. Dashi is very simply just stock made from kombu and katsuobushi or some other fish product.
Sp00gette The video’s already 11 minutes long, if someone cares enough, they’ll look it up.
@@WerdnaNiraehs I imagine that was their reasoning yeah
Isnt it just ajinomoto powder? Haha
@@champagnepogi Honestly, yeah, that would probably work. I'm assuming you mean their dashi powder, but even throwing in some MSG would get you most of the benefit, especially if you top it with nori and bonito.
@@WerdnaNiraehs 11 minutes is not a long time, and I doubt an explanation of dashi would have made it much longer
That last cooker would be great for a social gathering around it. Where while chatting and drinking, you can tend to it barely, but produce pretty good appetizers. The first one requires too much attention imo although it is efficient and probably faster. Given how I would use it, I'd use the third.
This is one of the most humble person i’ve seen in a while. The fact that he didn’t pretend cooking them was hard made him even look more humble.
I LOVE Dokodemo!!! Everything they have is so delicious 😭😭😭 love watching takoyaki and okonomiyaki being made
Have a similar grill pan like the 1st one, does the job and quick. The automatic one is pretty cool, but I actually like doing the flip myself 😁
Everyone seriously needs to try Shin's takoyaki at DokoDemo. Hands-down the best batter/filling I've had in the city
Great information! Love your videos and your easy on the 👀 👍😁👌🔥
Esther's getting better at this video stuff
The Otafuku flour mixes are amazing, especially if you can't get the exact flower and japanese yam for thickening.
The roots of Takoyaki are said to be Akashi‐yaki (Tamagoyaki). It is said that the history of Akashi-Yaki has started from the Edo period or the Meiji era. It started from Akashi-Yaki, and it became the current Takoyaki through the predecessor of "chobo‐yaki" → "Radio‐yaki“.
Akashi-Yaki is now also known as Tamago-yaki.
The material is similar, but it is soft, and it is a feature to eat after soaking in dashi soup. There is takoyaki in the space food, too. The space food takoyaki has been freeze-dried
This guy is so chill
He reminds me of an asian Mark Wahlberg
or krillin
Mike Wongberg
Unfortunate comparison.
Eerily reminds me of Derrick Rose
Does this mean that he takes out the eyes of white men who attack him?
Does anyone here know the Batter that they show to use. I couldn’t see the package clearly and would like to try it. Thanks in advance
The good even heating is the most impressive thing for me, non stick and a round shape is pretty simple to make, but making something with even heat is harder
great guest, great episode. thanks a lot! :D
Can you guys review electric woks vs carbon steel? I’m trying to figure out which to get.
I woke up this morning sweating after thinking I wouldn't have way to make Takoyaki at home. Bless up.
That dude is super chill 👌
For a moment, I thought how do they cut out octopus' balls
THANK YOU lol
Even after seeing them talk about it, it was only when he started cutting the octopus arm that I realized 🤦
It is tricky. You need 5 people. 4 people to each hold 2 tentacles. The 5th person to cut off the male octopuses balls.
Just got back from Japan. Making me miss the food already.
She’s so interested in his special batter
@@2darkdragon b a l l s
Is it possible the Takoyaki made using the electric version lacked something, because you didn't put any sauce or the bonito like you did for the Gas version? Not a fair comparison IMO.
Fish exactly!!!
LOL
The heat was weak and sucked anyway. The batter was ruined already. Whats the point?
lol "WHEN YOU ARE LIKE A MASTER, THEN YOUR BALLS ARE LIKE PERFECTLY CIRCLE" and "SAME SIZE TOO" on point conversation. LOL.
looking forward to our Japan trip more now!
I'm in love with Mr Shin Takagi....
You live in US?
nice leopard top. love it!
Are there even condiments on the second set?
what they do with extra Takoyaki?
This dude is so cool. Can he be on more?
Even if in the future they'll have takoyaki flipping machines I'd go to a restaurant that still has people flipping it. It is sooo delicious and fun to watch
Where can I buy the first one?
garnished the first one *wow nice*
eat the second one without garnished *it lacks so much, too lacky*
great logic!
I believe that the texture is not right. For Takoyaki's texture is the most important.
6:24 they didn't put some sauce on it
HIS SMILE
You could use the first one to make Abelskivers (I use the Lodge cast iron for them)
Perfect balls
Awesome video
I've been a fan of anime ever since I was young and I have seen octopus balls in anime and I always wanted to try some is it crunchy is it tender can't wait to try this
It's basically hot, crispy exterior, creamy inside, savory, and chewy. You get the taste of green onions, octopus, ginger along with the takoyaki sauce and whatever other toppings like kewpie or bonito flakes. It's great.
Also you don't have to limit to octopus, you can do squid, shrimp, sausage, cheese, whatever you want.
This guy is such a sweetheart
Would it still taste OK if I cooked it without the tempura crisp or dashi until I have time to get it?
And would I be able to use katsu sauce as a replacement?
He adores her😊😊😊😊
The first grill pan being used here has a non-stick coating, which probably shouldn't be used over a high heat open flame, or with exposed metal flipping tools -- I think the street vendors in Japan use seasoned cast iron, so they wouldn't experience flaking non-stick coatings from open flame heat degrading it or metal tools scraping it off. I bet there's similar sized silicon coated tools that would work.
Like funnel cakes or spiral potato at a carnival, a big part of the appeal of ordering takoyaki on the streets in Japan is the action-filled theatrical experience of watching the chef prepare a set of them fresh just for you before your eyes. It's not like the balls alone are some massively unique flavour or texture experience on their own -- I don't recall being able to taste or sense the octopus was specifically even there - you could remove the octopus and probably not notice.
The Amazon page says it is "Material: aluminum alloy, upper surface-non stick Coated", this product is not cast iron. They make it look like that for amateur buyers, but aluminum is not non-stick and doesn't season like cast iron, which is why they put the coating on it.
just use bamboo skewers to flip
Amazing Food
Is it just me or do they look like the perfect couple together ))))
Takoyaki is so good 😍
How tu buy the machine
Interesting.
Her: Your gonna teach me how to make Takoyaki!
Him: I'll Try...
Wow. Very delicious👍
the innuendo here is off the charts
Loved this, the guest, and love Takoyaki but the best quote was, "if you have many guests, small holes might be better." I'll take my dirty mind back to the recesses from whence it came.
Prepare for all the balls jokes.
definitely a fun segment, what matters is that it taste good. well unless, ur a real fancy entertainer type person.
Omgosh, he's so frickin CUTE! 😍😅😍
Did they taste the 3rd one?
The chef has a chill chill ill write ill write ill write vibe
Thanks for sharing I am more interested for the $20 pan
Coolest, most chill dude since the actor Hiroyuki Sanada. Oh, and Godzirra.
I need this gadget
I’ve had it like 3 times it’s basically a savory fried dough with octopus and I wonder why this isn’t sold everywhere in New England
They went from fully dressing the takoyaki before tasting to just tasting to not bothering to taste at all.
LMAO every time she says "balls".
Henry I Same here. For some reason every time she says, “balls” she kinda work around the word but end up saying it.
She LOVES balls. Why do you think he's always smiling.
Host is actually funny as hell for that.
Nothing beats the good old cast iron pan!
There is a cast iron pan that works on induction burners. Not a fan of octopus, but works OK on Taiwan style fishballs.
cast iron is the best becurse its hold the heat better so when its warmed up it doesn't show the unevenness of the flame and the nonstick is the so long you keep up with the maintenance of the cast iron
Am I the only one seeing serious chemistry going on here? Because they vibe really well
This guy is like the coolest zen dude
I want Shin’s recipe!
Professor: participation and attendance are mandatory.
Student: -think, think, think, BRAIN BLAST!- What does the tempura *crisp* do?
I feel like his smile is either extremely genuine or extremely nervous
I appreciate the chef doing this episode even after headbutting someone the night before.
Wait.. But did they test store bought batter VS dokodemo? $20 doesn't help if I still need to be a takoyaki pro..
"when you're master then your balls are perfectly circle" 🤣🤣🤣
When I lived in Osaka and we had a party with friends we would always use the second one and it worked like a charm. The pan version seems great for when you go out camping or something and the third one which is supposed to be automatic is just terrible. Noisy and inefficient and also the middle part is just a waste of space.
Imma make pancake balls with that!
time to buy the first one
I very much wanna try takoyaki
He’s so cuteeee
Take a shot every time they say "Balls"
I have the one in the middle but only paid 20 for it. I enjoy it a lot it get really hot to me.
Auntie Esther capacity of keeping a straight face while talking about balls and holes size is humbling.
Some say a cake pop maker works. Could you try that?
Shin: "Dashi is kinda like soy sauce."
Me: 😲😲😲😲😲
I just had breakfast but now I'm hungry again
"When you are like, a master, your balls are perfectly circle."
"Same size, too!"
Yea... but my long skinny poker...
That last ones balls is almost same colors balls as mine
*Octopus Balls*
