  • I got a new Japanese Takoyaki grill plate. It had a paint coating that I wanted to take off and reseason with oil. Can't wait to use it!!!

    "Brilliant", taking all the micro lumps off with a powered wire brush is a brilliant idea and really sets you up for a win. During the actual seasoning, I took my cast iron wok out of my barbecue to keep the fumes outside. But the next time I season any cast iron; I will use your superb trick of the powered wire brush. Thank you for making the video it deserves more viewers. :)

    Tip: if anyone wants to do the metal grinding and has no tools, sandpaper will do fine. But, be sure to prepare an even longer sanding and extreme arm workout since it may take an entire day or so to sand out the black seasoning from the factory. I also suggest using multiple grits of sandpaper if you want the surface smoother, as you increase the grit value. The best oils for seasoning the cast iron pan are the high smoke point ones like Canola Oil, and the best oil is Flax seed oil (since that's what world cast iron experts suggest). And, make sure that the pan is very hot to the point where the oil layer becomes a bit thick. This guy explains a lot on the concept of "cast iron seasoning": ruclips.net/video/zGR-pyLHz1s/видео.html

    I admire your dedication but the black "paint" you so diligently removed is actually the preseasoning oil that the manufacturer applied to save you the effort of doing it yourself. Regardless, you did a marvelous job of the seasoning!

    • @uemaisadventure
      @uemaisadventure  5 лет назад +1

      Hi FarHorizons! Thank you for watching! First I thought that was preseasoning oil and looked up about it but some people were saying it’s actually some kinda paint. So I decided to reseason it just in case. I enjoyed the process tho :)

    What oil did you use to make it black?

  • @studentdeljuego
    @studentdeljuego 5 лет назад

    If it its japanese cast iron particulary nanbu tekki. That paint is probably the charcoal finish they apply to help prevent rusting. I bought a teapot bare iron and also has this black charred finish. I think its called kabayaki.
