I'm new to your channel Thank you I have had 3 scan m cuts now have the SDX230DX. use it a lot when I'm not longarming. probably needs a good cleaning. my grandaughters use it too. 8 and 9 year olds

I did not know what I didn't know. I am on my second Scanncut and I love it ( bar the fact that the mats loose their stickiness so fast ) but I obviously have not used it to its full potential. So thank you for explaining so well and in detail. Merry Christmas

Well now I'm totally confused. I thought you could put your item to scan and cut onto a cutting mat - scan and then cut. What is the scanning mat for?

Great Question! So the scanning mat is for scanning to save data and not cutting. so if you have a drawing that you want to save on the machine as a cutting file, or a pattern that you want to save and use later then you can use the scanning matt and save the pattern to the machine. you can do the same with the cutting mat, but because the scanner is so good it will also pick up all of the cutlines, fluff and residue that is on your mat from previous cuts. because the scanning mat is just used for scanning, it should be clean every time! Hope this helps!

@@HighlightCrafts My SnC is back on the shelf again. I've watched a lot of videos but I'm obviously doing something wrong, and I don't know what. What I need is a class with a person showing me what I was doing wrong so I don't keep wasting expensive material and entire Sunday afternoons.

@@joeycarter2678 Did you start with Mel's 1st class - month 1? I've never seen anyone explain everything as clearly as Mel does. Whether yo are using a CM or a newer SDX she's a wealth of information. As a brand new user I'd be lost without her videos.

@@lynndaykin8600 Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did plus a ton of other videos too but I'm doing something wrong and can't figure out what to do so I've given up trying to use it. I'm selling it if you know anybody that might want a SDX85 with tons of extra stuff. My son's putting it on Ebay tonight. I would have needed an actual class with someone I could call when I just don't get what I'm doing wrong.

I bought scan and cut last year and its just sitting in the back room. I have enjoyed watching your beginner classes, but, must admit I you go so quickly and use words I have no idea what they are.

Sandra, if you click the settings/cog/wheel/flower symbol (people call it many different things) you can choose to play the videos at half speed or .75 - whichever suits you best. I'm a Brit but have lived in the USA for decades so I'm bilingual (😂). When Mel uses a British word such as 'Spanner' she always points to it so you know she means a wrench. If she's not pointing to something on the machine then it's just part of her banter and isn't relevant to what she's teaching at that moment. I'm 69 years old, didn't go to college, and was brought up without all this technology so if I can figure out, anyone can! I highly recommend playing the video at a slower speed and see if it helps you follow along.
