I'm playing catchup; I've had my Scan N Cuts, CM900, for about 5 years & SDX900 for just over 2 years. I have been using either as and when, often following product launch classes. Now, I'm going through the monthly classes to refine and fill some of the gaps in my knowledge.
I just LOVE U SOOO MUCH mrs Melanie!!! Loveee your video i learn sooo much and i just ADORE YOUR LAUGH!!!!! A little trick i found on youtube its BRILLIANT, when you want to cut untreated fabric(no heat and bond or no stabiliser) you sandwich your fabric between freezer paper and use standard matt is just PERFECT CUT EVERYTIME,!! WORKS LIKE A CHARM FOR FELT!!!! THANK U SOOO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEO!!!!AND YOUR TIME!!!
I don’t understand how you can cut the fabric if you sandwich it with freezer paper? Do you mean you are fusing a piece of freezer paper on both sides of your fabric and then peeling both sides of freezer paper off after? Is there a name to this RUclips video that you found, I would love to research it
Thank you for another wonderful tutorial. I keep watching your videos hoping for instructions on how to trace my paper design (purchased PDF), cut my fabric pattern (mirror image with heat n bond lite - I'm supposed to do that per pattern) and then transfer it to my USB for my PFAFF or Brother embroidery machine. All I would greatly appreciate is a "Step 1... scan; step2 save file as PES or VIP (I have software I can convert PES to VIP; etc.) Know I sound dumb but I've been so stressed / overwhelmed. Husband had "severe dementia/Alzheimers", is now resting at the feet of Jesus and I'm thankful he's no longer suffering... so, I'm about to do therapy sewing/appliqueing. Thanks to all for your wonderful comments and to Mel for sharing your talent and time.
When I first got my scan and cutI was so scared of it. I have been using it more and becoming more confident even using Canvas a little. I love your tutorials you are so down to earth and natural thank you Mel.x
Love your videos. I've learned so much. I have actually cut thicker felt to make ornaments and didn't use any stabilizer on it. It cut beautifully and I was surprised. I'll have to try thinner felt with and without stabilizing. I love experimenting also. Thank you for all you do. Your enthusiasm is so fun.
I have had my scanncut since december of 21 and have not used it as much as i thought i would for the scan and then cut feature but after watching these tutorials i am excited to use it for more than just that now. I was wondering after watching fabric being cut what the blade and mat would be for cutting fabric that is wonder under backed. wonder under is paper backed so I can cut out fabric things and iron them on cards. Fabric blade or standard blade? Standard mat or fabric mat? Thanx
Hello! you can get fabric support sheets on the highlight crafts website, these are put on the mat and then the fabric is places on top before cutting with the Scan'n'cut. If you're interested you can find them on the Highlight Crafts website here - highlightcrafts.com/shop/tools/brother-scanncut-high-tack-adhesive-fabric-support-sheets/
I love learning by visual rather than reading I find it much easier to follow... im currently making lots of greyboard clocks for a Cancer Research Charity Event this year and im using 5 x 12 by 12 sheets per clock so my SDX has been a godsend.Last year I made 32 clocks for the same event for the raffles and I didn't need to change the blade, that shows the quality of Brother accessories.
I’m not very scan n cut savvy, but, the classes I’ve watched for fabric appliqué use the heat n bond light, and cut mirrored fabric side down, and it seems to come off the mat easier. Have you tried that? Thanks. Still a newbie, Joanne
hi mel have you done a show cutting crepe paper i brought some from create and craft with the flower forming disk and can't find the show on create and craft
I read the transcript and it says pin flare stencil glue but it sounds like you are saying pin plus stencil glue… which is it? I love your accent ,but I can’t quite catch the information on the glue, do you have a picture or a link to it?
I was all excited and then realised this video was covering other materials. I only want to make cards but totally understand others want to learn different things. MEL is there a place we can put requests as there are some things I would love to be able to do but just can’t find a video showing me how?
You have the best Scan and Cut videos I have ever seen! Thank you.

Thank you for a lovely video. I need a Mylar video. Which one of your videos have you gone through the Mylar settings?
Have you tried cutting with the rotary cutter blade on just plain fabric?
I’m not very scan n cut savvy, but, the classes I’ve watched for fabric appliqué use the heat n bond light, and cut mirrored fabric side down, and it seems to come off the mat easier. Have you tried that? Thanks. Still a newbie, Joanne
Hi
I haven’t tried that but I will give it a go. Thank you x

Is the sponge wet?
I read the transcript and it says pin flare stencil glue but it sounds like you are saying pin plus stencil glue… which is it?
I love your accent ,but I can’t quite catch the information on the glue, do you have a picture or a link to it?
