As much as my heart breaks for his childhood trauma it doesn't give him a hall pass to lie, decieve and cheat on her for all those years. That's not love.

He was not only cheating but was/is on the downlow and too afraid to speak that to his sons who are collateral damage from their broken parents. I pray they all continue with counseling to heal, especially the younger son. It looked as if a part of his soul disappeared because of the profound hurt. My heart breaks for everyone in this family as I can somewhat relate. The only difference is I left when my husband was unfaithful and abusive because I wanted my son to not have to witness the dangerous dysfunction of living in a household full of demons. His father went on to marry someone else and had two more kids along with the one his second wife already had. His kids have suffered and ask my son why he's different from them and he tells them because my mother left and was willing to be a single parent struggling and sacrificing for him than to remain in an unhealthy marriage. Now his father wants him to reach out to his two kids and help them because he still has not become the father needed to pour into their lives. He does what he can to provide them with wise counsel, but their father checked out a long time ago. His father was never there for him and instead of "doing the work" on himself he would rather delegate that to our son. It's so very unfortunate and sad because he had so many gifts that God gave him, and he has squandered them all for nought. Now he is ill from a stroke and unable to do for himself and now his kids and wife now treat him very unkind!
