And as a black man who was single when the show debutted in the early nineties( I been married ever since '93) it played a role in shaping how blacks vibed with each other back in the day. And yes, it was "a thousand times better than friends" and it HAD TO BE. Blacks in general, no matter what field of endeaver they were pursuing had to be better then the caucasian when competting for the same position. Nothings changed even in 2024. Now we creating our own "hollywood" with RUclips and even in Atlanta.

Never saw an episode of Friends b/c I just had zero interest. I grew up in a predominantly White environment. I loved LS simply b/c it was hilarious & I loved the characters! Still never seen an episode of Friends b/c not one of those actors faces were remotely interesting to me.
The 90’ was the best and the greatest of times entertainment,sports , music and clothing our culture the culture the experience everything was so fresh and new it was a movement. I was a child when this was on, I grew up thinking I can have my own company. Being a self made woman was something I saw not only because of this show but in my mother, my aunt and grandmother who were single women with corporate jobs that enabled them to go places not where a lot of black people especially women were in. This was the foundation I grew up in and now I’m the fulfillment of it.
Living Single is the Best show of its type! Beautiful young black men and women! Great situations! Brilliant acting! Living Single! Make it live long, continue to be strong and prosper!

I know this fact because that with my job did a more than a couple of times to me. One instance, my job had us Black workers working in a dangerous situation where it effected our physical health. I called OSHA and all the supervisors in the higher level got angry. That was one of the times that I didn't care and left early from my job.

I agree white humor on that show was not funny to me. Living single any day.
Friends was a rip off knock off copycat in the literal sense. They were the complexion for the protection, so them having better accommodations kraft services etc.should come as no surprise.Warner Bros was on that bulljive sabotage burial of Living Single.

Making friends seems to be why they screwed up the Living Single series. They are known for making money off black shows to make movies etc… for white shows, especially Fox

The ONLY bad season of Living Single was the last one.
Yeah....they were struggling.
That’s what the network wanted because they wrote the script. Because they broke up the group when they took Kyle and Regin off the show. And changed their time slot.
The only episode of that season I liked was up the ladder to the roof, that was funny

We only got friends in the U.K. during the 90s, but I wish they aired living single too. I first accessed it online about 12 years ago & found it more enjoyable and relatable. Friends is dead-out!

I didn't get into Friends until its very last season. I watch Living Single EVERY MORNING on TVOne!! I really hope they do a reboot or at least a reunion two-part episode! Just like A Different World needs to do a "Homecoming" episode! Great story Retro Reels TV!!

But there was definitely a 2nd basketball player… someone from phoenix suns in season 5 and she was so nervous and took regine’s tranquilizers and was basically ‘drunk’ in the date. It was completely off character

The black actor Carson who said it is shut your mouth and do the job at 12:47 in this clip is so right about that what employers expect us Black people to do. I know this fact because that with my job did a more than a couple of times to me. One instance, my job had us Black workers working in a dangerous situation where it effected our physical health. I called OSHA and all the supervisors in the higher level got angry. That was one of the times that I didn't care and left early from my job.
