I don't really believe Arsenio Hall's show got the low ratings that they claim. I think it's because he was getting more viewers than Johnny Carson and The Tonight Show. The white power brokers in Hollywood weren't having none of that. The "Dog Pound" was doing it. They were hyped every night. Arsenio also had a great band.

He also attempted to perform a magic act during our senior class talent show (and bombed). However, he is still and always will be an icon in the comedy field and we are proud of his accomplishments.
Although I was never a major great fan of Arsenio Hall, I give him a high 5 for having individuals on his show that many others avoided. My biggest hate, not of him, was how the media and society protested when Arsenio had Andrew Dice Clay on the show. His musical director took the night off because of it but decided to stress his point the very next night. What a wimp! Louis Ferrakhan was on one night and took over the entire night. I've always loved listening to his speeches and Arsenio welcomed and addressed his issues very well. HIGH 5 to you, bro. You was the greatest late night talk show host, as far as I'm concerned.

I recently watched his stand-up special on Netflix, and I got emotional at how much I missed him! The reboot was bitter sweet. Arsenio put a very confused Paul Mooney on television. Paul was dealing with the challenges that come with old age. How do you tell a genius he's in no condition to perform? You respect your mentor and watch him struggle.
His show was actually a staple for me when I was a kid. I actually enjoyed and watched the show quite often. I'm a white dude, and I could care less than he was black. I just enjoyed the show. Personally I am sick and tired of all this woke BS. I personally find it incredibly offensive that if you are black or whatever group you belong to that you were supposed to behave a certain way because of those traits. Just for example, I think Spike Lee is kind of a jerk and stupid. I respect people who have a different opinion than I might have, but this victim mentality I think is gotten pretty pathetic. I initially went to college to become a paleontologist. And the reason why I switched degrees towards the end was that even that during the late 90s early 2000s became incredibly woke. Ironically ended up getting into film as a computer animator, and that was a lot less political and PC. It would be nice if there was just a show where you could kick back relax, and just be yourself without anybody nitpicking you because you have just a particular taste in something. Again, this belief that you have to behave a certain way because somebody wants to transcribe you into a certain group. Thing I liked about the show is I felt that even though there was that aspect of it that was tailored to be a show, it had an actual relaxed vibe which I appreciated and enjoyed because it wasn't canned like a lot of other shows were and continue to be. Never knew though that he was the voice of Winston on Ghostbusters though. That's kind of cool to know.
There is absolutely nothing SAD about Arsenio. He did what he wants to do and made successes of it all. He is blessed.
