Dude I LOVE this review. You have a way with being critical while keeping a cool, respectful demeanor. Phenomenal job explaining intricacies that many people just simply care about. This is my favorite Venom vs. Viper review I have seen. Hands down. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Jay, I really appreciate it, sharing and liking the video is the only thing that helps nowadays 😫. RUclips doesn't really push gun-related stuff anymore, a lot of us can't even get monetized. So at this point just doing it for the love of guns.😫👊
@@KingDOMCollective would you recommend venom for EDC gun or what red dot would be good for EDC? my priority is reliability in any conditions and RMR is too expensive so I am looking for something cheaper.
Nice review. Organized, covered the differences between the two. I liked your comments re the 3 MOA vs the 6 MOA. At 25 yds the 6 MOA covers about a 1.5" circle (approx, if my math is correct) which isn't too shabby. I see your points about the Venom but I do like the shorter height of the Viper. It does seem like it'd be nicely compact on a Glock 19 MOS. Thank you for a calm, non-shouting review.
Looking at both of these for my CZ P-10S OR, this definitely helped clarify some things, especially size/height and MOA differences. I think the Viper may win out simply because I should be able to cowitness with factory sights. I have to say, I really appreciate your style of videos. No clickbait, no stupid faces, cringey jokes, or tacticool gimmicks. You are knowledgeable, well-spoken, and concise. I really hope this channel gets as big as it deserves to be!
I agree with you ! 1 I love the sleek look of the viper over venom and 2 how snug it fits on the slide + the higher view its so much easier and fast to find the target . Performance wise the VIPER! Great video and informative information thank you and by the way your a real cool cat!
Best review I've seen on Vortex Viper vs. Vortex Venom. You explanation of 3 MOA and 6 MOA were concise and practical. I have a Venom, but you've convinced me to also try the Viper. Thank YOU, KingDOM Collective!
I've had my TP9sfx for about a month now and have been down many rabbit holes (some people are just crazy) with regard to firearms in general. I appreciate your perspective and straight forward objective observations. This video helped me make my decision, thank you.
This popped up as a "Recommended" and now I have subbed. Great stuff and as I own both of those red dots (Viper on my Scorpion and Venom on my Mini-14), I agreed with everything you said. Especially about the frustration of the battery for the Viper. I used a little piece of clear packing tape and all is well. :)
Excellent review. Just added the Venom to my cart to put on the new PDP. I also watched your Holosun comparison. In the end it came to aesthetics and price. Going with Vortex Venom. Now I need to watch some of your light videos
Just found your channel I’ve had my eye on the venom and you humble and non biased opinion of both really help me know that the venom is a good choice although if I had twice the money you know I’d be all over that rmr 2 but hope wishing and hoping never bought me anything 😂
LOL, thanks for the comment Smitty. You should definitely feel confident about the venom. I've tried just about every red dot under the sun and I get it RMR's are the business. The one thing that they have over most red dots is their ruggedness (hence the name..) However, if you're not going to war or running over your red dot with a truck then you'll be fine getting something else. Also not sure if you know but if your venom does brake for whatever reason Vortex literally has the best Warranty I've ever seen in my life. no question no hassle they are sending you a new one. So yea feel confident in the venom. 😉
Thanks for this. You really hit the finer points on both of these optics. I've got a Venom and a Viper on hold at Cabelas, and I'm taking 1 of them home in 4 hours. I've been back and forth so many times over which to choose, because It's a birthday gift for my GF to put on her Ruger Mark 4 Tactical, and all in all, the points that you brought up helped a lot. She's a beginner, so I'm going with the Viper, because she'll pick up and point that 6 MOA dot faster and easier.
Excellent analysis. Your comments / criticisms / admitted (and unapologetic) bias all make sense. However, after 45 years of 1911, I'm fairly OK with iron. But for my son who is about to embark on 3Gun, the Viper (on a Glock) gets the nod. Kudos also for the safety check. I'm old school - every gun is loaded until I unload it.
Based on your review, I just orders the Vortex Venom 3 moa and a six pack of batteries ! Thanks for a well informed review. I’m going to install it on my Walter Q5 SF Match!
Thanks for the honest comparison, including good AND bad of both sights from your personal use perspective. Good breakdown of what you like and don't. Thanks for posting!
This was the deciding video for me to purchase my first red dot, which is the Venom. I like how you gave your opinions, observations, and you didn’t come off arrogant. Many thanks!
Good info. And thank you for posting. I've been shooting IDPA with the Venom 6 MOA. I like it but one time as you stated the dot glare. At the indoor range (zeroing at 15 yards even at its lowest number it glares to much). Thanks again for the comparison.
PSA had too good of a deal on the venom and I got a smoking good deal on a glock slide cut for the venom. So I kinda painted myself into the venom corner before I did any research. Great video though. I'm feeling better about the 3moa venom
Great video brother... I have had both of these red dots and I have to say most, if not all of what you covered in this I have to agree with. These are great sight options, awesome price points. But, the one thing, and I never noticed it till it happened not once but, twice. Was the durability of the Venom over the Viper! While dry firing I had dropped my Glock with the Viper and cracked the housing right along the side where the two little screws are. The glass was fine and it still held zero. But, that real tiked me off, more at myself than anything. I then replaced it with the Venom and I have banged it up dropped it a few times (during dry fire) a couple of times, and never had an issue like that. I then came across a great deal on another Viper and put it on a Glock 45 mos and while I was cleaning the slide after a long range day it fell from my lap and the same thing happened again🤦. So I would have to say in my opinion, the Venom is the better of the two. Especially if it is going to take any type of abuse...
This is the first of your videos I've seen and you just got a subscribe only because I appreciate the opening verification clear, alot of gun channels are more geared towards people who carry or own so safety is implied, but to see that so proper on social media was very nice to see, thanks.
I've had the 3 MOA Viper for over a year now on my PPQ Q5 Match. I really like it for all the reasons you mentioned. Indoors it is great. I've noticed that outdoors on a sunny day the dot isn't big enough. So I'm thinking about moving the Viper back to my Taurus TX22C and buying a 6 MOA Venom for the Walther. Thanks for the great review
I purchased a Venom about a year ago for one of my Ruger Mark IV pistols and I really like it. Quick target acquisition and for me, it's great for hunting squirrels. After watching this review, I'm going to purchase the Viper for my other Mark IV.

I just ordered the Vortex Viper 6 MOA for $150 new through OP. If I don’t like it, its not like I spent a fortune. Most pistol engagements are going to be 7-10 yards. The 6 MOA will allow faster red dot target sight picture acquisition. I really wanted to get the Trijicon Type 2 red dot in 3 MOA but I couldn’t pass up this price. I’ll see how this one performs first and if it doesn’t meet my needs, I can always upgrade later.

Love your review. I had both red dots. I have the Venom on a full size and a subcompact EDC handguns, and the Viper on a compact handgun. Altough I prefer the Venom much more, the Viper is growing on me. I think I shoot much faster and more accurately with the Venom. The bigger red dot is more stable and much faster to get on target. Like you, I love the classic look of the Viper. Nonetheless, i concur that the Venom is of much better quality. The button and dials are much more tactile compared the to Viper. Thanks for the video bro, a great breakdown of these sights. I don’t have any red dots on any of my handguns and I have been trying to decide which of these to get for my M&P 9. Glad to have input from someone who owns and uses both.
Wow, what a great review! I was having difficulty deciding between the two, but your video helped explain the differences on a very practical level. I haven't used any optics on a pistol yet, so I am going to take your advice and go with the newer Venom. However, I am still a little torn. You make a great point about the Viper's additional vertical view, but that open battery space makes me a bit uneasy. Side note: I totally agree with your opinion on the Venom's angular design. It sticks out as unrefined, whereas the rest of the design features on the optic seem well thought out.
SORRY I HAD TO DELETE MY OTHER COMMENT, I WAS LOGGED INTO MY TEACHER ACOUNT AND WHOOPS LOL wow a great video as I am looking to upgrade from my burris fastfire II and this video shows me that I would prefer the Viper over the venom since it sits lower and I have no trouble finding the dot left to right but I am always up high due to the fastfire feeling like it is 2 feet above the slide lol. Thank you for a very informative video
Man, you get an Auto LIKE for Starting your video 100% the CORRECT Way ! CLEAR ! Good Job. Great Video. 7:22 IF Someone is seeing your sight from the FRONT point of view - they are about to have a very, very bad day ! :-O
Great video! I watched this video and a few others before deciding which Vortex to get for my 22 Smith Victory handgun. My old tube Bushnell Red Dot had started acting up. I think people shooting at 25 yards or less (i.e. pistol ranges) the 6MOA Viper would be a better choice for most shooters. But I shoot outdoors in the boonies of Arizona. Not a regulated range. The range I shoot with a Scoped handgun and the Red Dot begins at about forty yards and goes up 100 yards or more. The 3 MOA Venom is a better choice in my opinion at the longer ranges.
Great point about 3 MOA is a better choice at longer ranges. How the differences were explained to me (by my nephew who is a Marine) was that 6 MOA is larger in the reticle than the 3. 6 MOA is ideal for shorter distances, so that the dot is acquired faster and the dot size has true contrast against the target at close range. At longer ranges, the 6 MOA may fully cover the target or important points of contact (IE: If used on a deer rifle, a size 6 MOA covers the entire front shoulder of the target) while a 3 MOA is smaller and can be pointed on more precise locations in the kill zone like the heart. From there, the shot location is dependent on the shooter and their mechanics.
King DOM I could listen to you read a phone book. Thanks for the info I’ve been contemplating the viper for my gen 5 17. Now thinking the venom may be a better fit.
One thing to consider in shape is the right angle of the Viper will allow you to cycle the slide one handed more easily. This is the reason I will never use ramp type sites.
Why have I not seen this video before. I just purchased my first red dot yesterday. Got the Venom over the viper. Hope I made the right call. Great video, well made, I'm going to subscribe. Well done sir.
The Venom has an auto off feature but no auto on. I assume the Viper is the same? This is really important! If you have to remember to manually turn it on before use, that could get you killed when fractions of a second count.
Thanks for watching guys, catch my latest video here!!! 👊💯 ruclips.net/video/y79fVn8jIjg/видео.html

You're Welcome again Dave and thanks for taking the time to repost it. Means a lot! 👊
This was honestly the best red dot comparison video I’ve ever seen. Thank you for your video! You’ve helped me with my decision. Subscribed and liked!
Thanks Zach! 💯
Intro alone…you got a homie my bro
#bigups🤙🏾
Thanks dom u are only one describing moa sizes , kinda like handguns 6 moa , rifles 3 moa . So glad venom comes in 3 or 6 moa now.
Great content. Subbed. I agree with other commenters, you deserve more recognition. Well done, sir.
Thanks so much Justin and welcome
Man, you get an Auto LIKE for Starting your video 100% the CORRECT Way ! CLEAR ! Good Job. Great Video.
7:22 IF Someone is seeing your sight from the FRONT point of view - they are about to have a very, very bad day ! :-O
Thanks and lol at 7:22, I agree 😂
Low profile (less to get snagged on), and ability to co-witness made the Viper the best choice for me for my G19. I've been happy with it.
Great video and excellent production quality, just subbed :)
Thanks James! I'll try to make it even better in the future.
Spot on! Just what I was looking for. Nicely done. Thank you.
Great comparison. Thank you, you helped me make a decision between these two!
Glad I could help!👊
What’d you go with
King DOM I could listen to you read a phone book. Thanks for the info I’ve been contemplating the viper for my gen 5 17. Now thinking the venom may be a better fit.
😂😂😂 Too funny! Glad I could help. 👊💯
First time on your channel. I like your presentation style and content. It’s very well done.
Thank you kindly!
Very honest review. Helped immensely.
Many thanks. You are a must subscribe channel in my opinion.
I really appreciate that comment Rich, Thank You
man your voice is so pleasant to listen to
👊 So I've been told, lol I appreciate it thanks!
Thanks for the review, you bring up some excellent points!
One thing to consider in shape is the right angle of the Viper will allow you to cycle the slide one handed more easily. This is the reason I will never use ramp type sites.
Great video. Really helped me make an educated purchase today. I went with the venom and im extremely happy. Thank you !
Awesome choice, you're welcome
Subscribed! Loved the videos, so informative....make more please!
Thanks for the Sub and I will for sure.
Subbed. I really enjoy your perspective. This helped me make my decision. Thank you.
Why have I not seen this video before. I just purchased my first red dot yesterday. Got the Venom over the viper. Hope I made the right call. Great video, well made, I'm going to subscribe. Well done sir.
Appreciate that Michael, you can't really go wrong with the venom 👊.
PPQ...4 life! Gotta get that Venom. Top mounted battery seals the deal for me.
Yea it's a great choice!
The Venom has an auto off feature but no auto on. I assume the Viper is the same? This is really important! If you have to remember to manually turn it on before use, that could get you killed when fractions of a second count.
Thanks man, really well done. Answered a lot of my questions.
I totally understand your point about aesthetics though. I feel like I should be able to get looks and proper functionality.
Thank you you do a great job explaining the difference.
Thanks Daniel.
I have the Venom myself, and I can confirm that the 90° angle indeed is a thing. Looks weird
👊😂👊😂 Yup, It is... It looks so bad... I need a venom 2.0 ASAP with smoother lines. YES!, i know it's superficial.
All Venom red dots look good in my opinion, especially on Glocks.
Best review on this for all the little things I was looking for
