@Radar O’Reilly I think the idea that he/she's trying to get at is that maybe the film Godzilla is a juvenile, like the show one was in New Family (as referenced at 4:45.) Also, where did you get the idea that the movie Godzilla was a couple decades old?
gray scourge such a theory isn’t really canon it’s just a bit of a plot hole for the series to kick off. The movie Zilla is an adult and there’s no getting around that, his son is simply a more powerful and durable version of his predecessor.
i think that the original was capable of using the atomic breath but it was weaker and couldn't use atomic breath was because it was still part iguana making it less durable meaning if it did use the atomic breath it would kill itself, while its offspring had less iguana dna and had evolved to be durable enough to use atomic breath

Could you imagine if the Zillas in the Monster Apocalypse novel were as powerful as Zilla Jr in the show? That's terrifying cause those things were already the most difficult Kaiju to bring down (hell that could just be the Monster Apocalypse itself)
Oh my God fuck E3 you're doing a profile of one of my favorite cartoon series ever I remember waking up early Saturday morning to watch this show when I was a kid such great memories
CrossbreedAzure I couldn't agree more, I remember watching this every chance I could in the morning before school I loved this series to this day still and it will always have a place in my heart
Godzilla '98 was actually the first Godzilla movie I'd ever seen, and maybe it was because I didn't have anything else to compare it too, but I actually really liked his sleek design for the movie and show. The animated series was a top favorite of mine watching it as a kid, and was the highlight of my week lol.
This series showed that the design was not the problem, it was the execution. If Roland Emerich let him have his atomic breath and be durable then people wouldn’t have as many problems.
I like how zill jr and the tri star godzilla focused more on agility and intelligence rather than just brute strength which Godzilla traditionally uses. It had some interesting takes on Godzilla. Maybe if it is possible they could bring him into the monsterverse make him some kind of sub species or godzilla or what not. But who knows with trademarks.
As someone who grew up watching all of the old Godzilla films, I never had a problem with the 98 film. I always saw it simply as an alternate version of Godzilla. And I always thought the cartoon was amazing. This design of Godzilla has actually always been one of my favorites. It just looks so badass. I love it and it will always have a special place in my heart, despite all of the hate it still receives. You can shit on me for liking something if you want, but tbh I don’t really give a fuck. You can like what you like, and I’ll like what I like. It’s as simple as that.
I agree, I love his design. Over the years though, I've grown to love Legendary Godzilla's design as well as Shin Godzilla's design. My newest is Godzilla 2000's design.
I still find it hard to refer to this monster as Godzilla due to the design, but unlike the movie, I feel much more comfortable with it. I have a lot of respect for this incarnation of Zilla and I feel like Toho should include him in their upcoming Cinematic Universe with all his good qualities and without all the bad ones his parent had.
This technically isn’t and incarnation of Zilla, as Zilla did not exist until 2004. Calling this Godzilla an incarnation of Zilla is like saying Godzilla is an incarnation of Jirass.
Jiras only had the design/suit of the Showa Godzilla. He was never presented as Godzilla. Had he been presented as a relative to Godzilla's species, that would have been perfectly fine. But Zilla's design is so drastically different, that I cannot accept it as Godzilla. I don't care when the name was invented for the creature. To me that name is tied to the creature by design from the get go. What doesn't look like Godzilla, will not be called Godzilla. Zilla is tied to the character model/monster design of the creature, so I'm gonna refer to the creature as Zilla whenever I'm looking at Zilla.
Ham Wamson sorry, but I'm not obliged to consider two different creatures as the same creature just because they used to share the same name at some point in history. And I don't see anything lame about considering the true Godzilla as the true Godzilla. Zilla junior has much more in common with Godzilla than his parent did, but he's still not quite there yet.
You don't have to be obliged, you can just think as incorrectly as you want. Regardless of your headcannon (it's not Godzilla because it looks different), Both of these "creatures" are just incarnations of Godzilla. It's not hard to grasp.
I’m gonna be honest I think the Patrick Tatopoulos design might be my favorite design despite it being radically different to all the others, I feel it fits quite well with a more Heroic Godzilla then the normal heavy bipedal design (which let’s be real that Godzilla can not be depicted as a Hero because well it’s kind of hard for something to be considered a good guy when it kills thousands of innocent people just by moving, atleast Zilla/Godzilla Junior is slim enough to weave between buildings with minimum damage)
Godzilla is a anti hero no monster is a full fledged hero not even mothra kong or gamera are heros since they all kill humans in self defense or on accident and all three of them love humanity for crying out loud godzilla simply doesn't love and doesn't hate humanity he's neutral about humans
12:14 that moment when you realize that the G14 script was not entirely original :O (Wow!) And thanks for the link :D 12:04 that irony that Japanese people complained that G98 did not have powers and there instead they do not want me to have any.
1:32 that's the face of true love. I just finished the series and I found the imprinting thing to be adorable, to have an 180 feet tall creature protecting you because to him you're his dad. The show should've had more seasons, and an appropiate ending. Were Zilla Jr. to be introduced in the Monsterverse maybe just mentioned as a sub species from Godzilla or a mention of Dr. Tatopoulos, recognizing their existence.
As a kid, the '98 film was one of my favorites to watch, but holy hell was the series amazing. I first found it by getting the Monster Wars DVD which had all 3 episodes. Fast forward to about 2015 and I found the rest of the episodes on a website and binge watched it all in 1 or 2 days. Totally awesome and worthy of being remade/rebooted, even on Netflix.
If the movie had started like this, things around this version would be very different. That is, it can climb down, Run and Jump!! 4:23 :O Obviusly also more durable. It's Perfect!
Godzilla the series was better than the movie before it and has a 90s nostalgia we all grew up with every Saturday morning 1999-2000. The story was great in developing Zilla a character who is widely hated in the Godzilla community. Either way the series has brought new life to the character showing abilities we didn't see in 1998. Great series should be on Netflix.
You know you've learned irony when a series based on something is both more faithful to the original material and more generally well-liked than the thing it was made to tie into.

velociraptor4you Agreed!
Vincent Franklin 😊
It could be because this is a character deserving of the name Godzilla. As much as I dislike TriStar Godzilla, this was a good show in my opinion
ChaosJoker True that. It's OK if you dislike the film. *I* on the other hand happen to be one of the people who actually *loves* it. But *we all have different opinions,* so how about you and I agree to disagree?
BTW, I love the show, too. 😊
velociraptor4you I have no problem with people who like the movie, I respect other people’s opinion, unlike 95% of the Godzilla fandom
They should totally add zilla Jr. Into the monster verse although it seems highly unlucky I want hint to get the recognition he deserves
They should.
Thank you for including the opening theme in the beginning of the video, I hadn't heard that song in years, and it was nostalgia city for me.
It's so unfair Godzilla's girlfriend and her egg had to die, it would have been interesting to see him act like a father
Zilla Jr is so awesome.
Trey Rex *Godzilla Jr is so awesome*
T Rex fallen Kingdom yep.
Yes he is.
Godzilla '98 was actually the first Godzilla movie I'd ever seen, and maybe it was because I didn't have anything else to compare it too, but I actually really liked his sleek design for the movie and show. The animated series was a top favorite of mine watching it as a kid, and was the highlight of my week lol.
zilla jr basically seems to be a decent if not good cross/comprimize between the toho Godzilla and zilla
A compromise between Toho Godzilla and a character created *after* him? How does that work?
One of the best Godzilla.
Yeah I think most g fans agree
This series showed that the design was not the problem, it was the execution. If Roland Emerich let him have his atomic breath and be durable then people wouldn’t have as many problems.
12:43 and just when things can’t get any worse, the QUEEN BITCH emerges from the opening
The animated series came out the day before my 5th birthday! I love Godzilla and this guy!
I would love to see someone make a whole movie based on the Godzilla 2 script
I'd welcome that! :)
velociraptor4you I guess we need some animators, how about The Sci-Fi guy.
LegoLiam1803 yes
LegoLiam1803 I believe I've seen his work. He'd be a good pick. 👍🏻
The coolest Kaiju of all time! He's always been my favourite since I was a kid!
It's Godzilla, man. Your headcannon is lame
I really hope they'll put zilla Jr in the monsterverse, I doubt that will happen but it'd be amazing!
This version is much better than the movie one. The series was great. This put the "God" back in "Godzilla".
Zilla Jr should be considered Godzilla & given a second chance after the monster verse wraps up.
I'd loved to see him in the MonsterVerse as an ally Titan to Godzilla, and Mothra.
If this becomes true I want to see a cool redesign. The same posture as the original but more badass
I actually think that Zilla Jr is my favorite Godzilla incarnation
I watched all of the animated episodes and loved it. The 98 Godzilla is the best looking Godzilla to me followed by the 2019 Godzilla
@@Kaiju-bm4ts - It depends on the movie, though.
@@GammaDestroyer well obviously
@@Kaiju-bm4ts - *looks sheepish*
Sorry..?
@@GammaDestroyer I was agreeing with you no need for apologies
Very underrated show.
I wish the series will continue or zilla jr will be in the monsterverse
Same here.
My favorite kaiju ever
@joshua ashley it means "giant beast".
@joshua ashley Kaiju means "giant beast".
The Humped Carnosaur: Revolutions no it means a monster
@@trinagray3321 It literally means "strange beast"
They need to bring back the Godzilla the series and make a another season or two of more episodes
This show has been buried deep within my nostalgic memories, I'm glad it has come back to surface
from what i can speculate, it takes 3 weeks to reach 30 meters tall and later in the series he reached his full size
Excellent trivia walkthrough, man 😎👍🏻!
When your own child is cooler than you.
This series was amazing. The only reason I like the Zilla species.
12:14 that moment when you realize that the G14 script was not entirely original :O (Wow!)
And thanks for the link :D
12:04 that irony that Japanese people complained that G98 did not have powers and there instead they do not want me to have any.
This Godzilla version represents the best incarnation of Godzilla, alongside Godzilla 2019.
I actually loved this cartoon and it’s Godzilla
The best animated sci-fi series of the 90s 😁👍🏻!!!
This cartoon was my gateway to loving all of the other Godzilla media
Your damn right Final Wars Zilla wasn’t Godzilla Junior, Godzilla Junior would’ve actually had a fighting chance!
My favorite Godzilla of all time
One of my favorite Godzilla incarnations.
Yes my birthday present is, the Godzilla that made me a fan! He'll always be Godzilla to me.
I love how Godzilla picked up Nick, then put him back DOWN and started waggling his tail.
He was going to eat Nick before he recognized the scent
You know I quite like the name Gorgon, it might be a good way to establish this version of Godzilla as its own Kaiju
Only thing missing from this series was a “King Ghirorah”!!!
I wonder how he would have looked in this series !?
Yes! Finally! Zilla Jr!
Probably the best Zilla to me!
I underestimated the 1998 godzilla
1:32 that's the face of true love. I just finished the series and I found the imprinting thing to be adorable, to have an 180 feet tall creature protecting you because to him you're his dad. The show should've had more seasons, and an appropiate ending.
Were Zilla Jr. to be introduced in the Monsterverse maybe just mentioned as a sub species from Godzilla or a mention of Dr. Tatopoulos, recognizing their existence.
Funny how in the G98 movie, there’s no references to other mutations. Or did they only appear after Godzilla’s death?
GSDee after
zilla sr. is just the fist of these "mutations"
I remember watching this when I was 8!!!
And it still holds up and is still amazing.
My favourite interpretation of the godzilla design.
One of my absolute favourite Godzilla's, probably in my top three ngl
This series needs a reboot
If the movie had started like this, things around this version would be very different. That is, it can climb down, Run and Jump!! 4:23 :O
Obviusly also more durable. It's Perfect!
9:31 me and my smol brain thinking that one creature standing up like a warbat is a warbat
10:06 last time I checked, Komodo Dragons and Marine Iguanas aren't in the same genus but aight I guess lol
A true godzilla to be remembered
Godzilla the series was better than the movie before it and has a 90s nostalgia we all grew up with every Saturday morning 1999-2000. The story was great in developing Zilla a character who is widely hated in the Godzilla community. Either way the series has brought new life to the character showing abilities we didn't see in 1998.
Great series should be on Netflix.
hell yeah zilla junior
You know you've learned irony when a series based on something is both more faithful to the original material and more generally well-liked than the thing it was made to tie into.
