The whole Godzilla series actually aired in Australia on The Big Cheez (known as Cheez TV on weekdays), along with the Jumanji animated series. I like to think that I was responsible for its resurgence in popularity. Back then I used to wake up, sometimes as early as 3am to tape Jumanji and Godzilla. Some years later in 2004, I was browsing the old TV Tome website and I noticed an American user asking if anybody had copies of the show. I left a reply saying I had the whole series and they guy offered to send me money to pay for the cost of VHS tapes and postage. The plan was I'd send VHS copies to his friend in the UK who would make region free DVD copies for us both. I received my copies, he received his. I didn't think much more about it. But a couple years later RUclips came along and my recordings had gone viral. People were posting music videos and even entire episodes, and I could tell they were my recordings from the VHS artifacts and Network Ten logos. When I contacted my American acquaintance and asked about this, I was told his UK friend had also sent out copies to other friends. Apparently one of them made Bit Torrents of them. So if you saw this show on RUclips and it exhibited a Network Ten logo, you're welcome!
“I hope you don’t have arachnophobia while watching this episode.” But I do. It’s right here, in my hand. The move, Arachnophobia, starring Jeff Daniels and John Goodman, a favorite movie
My two favorite characters from the show had to be Kraven and Major Hicks. Mendel Kraven was a sleeper badass behind his hypochondriac tendencies and had a spine that showed when shit hit the fan. Major Hicks may be the only reasonable military figure in the TriStar Godzillaverse, made even better by him actually holding rank and being able to actually influence what the military does. He does have his bull headed moments of disagreement with Nick and crew, but like I said it was refreshing to have a military guy in any monster movie who recognizes bigger threats and how Zilla Jr. can be an asset.

Loved this review! So glad people loved the show as much as I did. I truly wish we could’ve seen much more. I’ve seen some of the potential monsters afterward that would’ve been amazing to see. Just aslo wanted to say, Winters wants to get rich but he also hates Nick. He doesn’t want Nick to do better than him and only went after what is arguably Nick’s most successful and valuable thing he “owns” which is Godzilla. He didn’t need to go after Nick, since before getting into Godzilla mayhem, Nick dealt with mud and worms all day. Winter saw him as a lowly rival but soon sky rocketed to a true contender against his throne of superiority. So really, he’s an asshole who needs to be above everyone else even if it means that he has to kill or kidnap you 100,000 ton lizard.
It's telling that the only name I remember from this show is "Nigel!". Some things just stick with you. ...I suddenly have a weird desire to play the old GBC game based on this.

Great review man! My most favorite episode in this season ever since I was child is competition, always loved seeing this Godzilla in Japan fighting the Mecha-Kong look a like and the Toho nods haha. 25:52, you should aslo mention that in the same episode, you can see godzilla following Nick through the water, its a fun detail that's shown sometimes, explaining how he always pulls up. Makes you wonder what he's doing until he senses Nck is in danger
They did use one Japanese monster besides Godzilla, Mechani Kong although he was somewhat different than the way he was in Toto's movies so they did rename it but they use the same concept of a mecha Kong from Mechani Kong
The talking trash episode definitely has Hedorah vibes. Also cat and mouse has to be a nod to latitude zero. Which also featured kaiju rats. Also was a Ishiro Honda movie.
the aliens were my favourite part of the series. a bio tech ship with psionic crewman is hard to find. still kinda makes me wonder if they found and captured a benthic or space creature to serve as their vessels.
Haven’t watched part 2 yet but on an animation/tv level I’m impressed that when watching recordings/using Nigel’s mini-bots the feed is pov and not what we as viewers of the show are seeing
I like how you used Radical Highway’s music from SA2 for the episode about the chameleon creature. Similar to Sonic being framed by Shadow and being pursued by the military.
Another fun trivia is alot of the new monsters are stand ins for Toho classics.. such as Quetzacoatl being atleast a happy coincidence of similarities to Rodan.. especially the Final Wars and beyond depictions
this is still a show i come back to every now and then, its just renewing my love for this giant lizard all the time one thing i still dont get is how zilla went from lil bebe who just got out of the shell to giant reptile in a span of a few days (probably)
You know, the plot of Dead Loch is awfully similar to the British monster movie Gorgo. Jackass kidnaps baby kaiju, mother goes berserk, shenanigans ensue. Even set in the British Isles, although sadly London isn't getting flattened. Feels like a subtle ref to me.
I watched this show when it first aired and even taped some episodes on VHS but i remember they ran the hell out of episode 10.They were playing that one alot for some reason.
I don't see how the rich villain wanting to get richer is THAT one dimensional. Money is power and if you're the richest person in the world, you basically own the world because nobody can outbid you. Think about Mom in Futurama.
Because the guy already seems to be rich enough to invent advanced out of this world tech, have his own islands and even has means of controlling monsters. He already seems to have as much money to do basically anything. So his motivation of "muh more money" feels a touch flat.
Fun Fact: The episode Composition is actually a reference to King Kong Escape with the Robo Yeti being the obvious reference to Kong himself and Mechani Kong (and MechaGodzilla if you wanna count the skin hiding the true form robot underneath which Terminator total stole from Godzilla) the giant cobra a homage to the sea serpent Kong fought and of course Godzilla in the place of Gorosaurus. DeathLoch could even a homage to Toho and Hammer pictures unmade Kaiju/British horror movie Nessie. Episodes Cat and Mouse is nice nods to 1976 movie Food of the Gods and Hive a nice reference to THEM replacing the ants with bees and having it be a B-Movie monster movie feel, the creators of the show were huge fans of Godzilla as well as tons of old monster movies and it really shows how much tiny little homages they put in each episode. *Edit* Another thing I left out was Cyber-Godzilla was meant to be the shows Mecha-Godzilla. I also find it quiet fitting Toho actually used that concept for Kiryu using the corpse of the original Godzilla to create a giant robot/cyborg to combat against Godzilla.
Anyone notice the similarities between that snake and the flying serpents from Godzilla vs Kong? I noticed the similarities right away when I watched the movie.
"Godzilla's outbursts were caused by a minor chemical imbalance" They got Godzilla on some Xanax, gave him some monster therapy, and he's fine now guys
20:13 well i like Godzilla underwater fights because they show Godzilla at his best since he’s in his element, water. For instance the underwater fight between Godzilla and battra in the hesi Godzilla and mothra.
I loved this series WAY more than the 1998 live-action film it was based on. It felt epic, and much closer to what the original Godzilla movies were like, they tried to include some actual science every so often (Godzilla Jr. imprinting on Nick, for example), and what really cemented my love for it was the use of the Ice Borers. I used to subscribe to "Discover" (a science magazine, if you're not familiar with it), and in the April 1995 issue, they did a number of "April Fool" articles, including the recent discovery of a "new" Antarctic predator species, the hot-headed naked ice borer, which was just a naked mole rat with a "thermal organ" Photoshopped onto its forehead. As for Cameron Winter being a boring, one-dimensional billionaire villain who's only interested in grandstanding and making even more money than he already has with some wild, flashy, insane schemes . . . [gestures to everything Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and all the other mega-billionaires have been doing in the last few years]
Vvert nice review, only thing is that Nessie is a mosasaur and that isnt a dinosaur, in fact its more related to monitor lizards and snakes. Just give a monitor lizard some flippers and a tail fluke then bam! Mosasaur.
I thought Leviathan would rank higher, but when I stopped and thought about it, it made sense. When I first watched as a kid it was a rerun _after_ I saw Monster Wars, so for me it was basically a prequel which made it more enjoyable. I can see how it's kind of boring if it has to stand on it's own.
18:58 Fun Fact: Cryptoclidus was a real animal, a marine reptile belonging to the plesiosaur family! Note they are not dinosaurs, and are more closely related to modern sea turtles! Mosasaurus also is not a water dinosaur, it’s actually a squamate, in the same group with lizards and snakes!

While Godzilla is out fighting other monsters, Chameleon may be fighting humans or exploring the world; hell, maybe it ends up being an addition to Monster Island - not as an uwilling resident, but as a security measure since it's able to transform into something to match or counter each monster should they escape
You know, ironically, Cameron Winter would've made for a great MGS villain, he certainly has the ham and cunning down pat.
Thank you.
The blob monster in episode 3 reminds me a LOT of Hedorah.
*episode 4, since new family was a two parter
I remember seeing your Easter video and I noticed that you have alot of Godzilla figures and I was wondering if you were a fan of Godzilla just asking
@@sammyt7981 Stalking me again?
No I’m just a fan of you dude I will stop if you want me too
Except it does the opposite. It cleans of trash instead of producing it
“I hope you don’t have arachnophobia while watching this episode.”
But I do.
Yep...I'm going to be one of those people...
Plesiosaurs and Mosasaurus aren't Dinosaurs they're marine reptiles
Nerd! Also dinosaur in the non scientific meaning means any ancient reptile
@@tfordham13 actually dinosaurs are more related to Birds then to reptiles. Also the name meanings are just the why it got its name. Carcharodontosaurus Shark tooth lizard. It doesn't mean the dinosaur is part shark. Also Dracorex hogwartsia
doesn't mean that dinosaur is actual dragon king from Hogwarts.
@GamingDinoNerd dinosaurs are reptiles even If there related to birds now days
He also calls the spiders insects
😄😆😅
In the episodes where the monsters where controled there was a creature that looked like the warbat from godzilla vs kong 2021 movie.
"Who's next jesus asking for help Detroit"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The Better 98 godzilla media.
I really liked this show and I always preferred this Godzilla design
imagine thinking the loch ness monster is fake in a world where godzilla, modern day dinosaurs, sentient plants, aliens, and giant monsters clearly exist
Me too little man i had that same thing, used to play it at my grandpa's building. simpler times
I would love to see another Godzilla series like this and the Hanna Barbera one.
I know there's the whole "serious, story drivin Godzilla" thing going on but I'd like to see more fun episodic adventures where the Big G fights new monsters every episode.
This was a great trip down memory lane thanks for doing this man, looking forward to Part 2!
Nostalgia injection straight into my bloodstream. Godzilla: The Series is easily one of the cartoons I love re-visiting every so often. I cannot wait for your Season 2 video!
Great review man! My most favorite episode in this season ever since I was child is competition, always loved seeing this Godzilla in Japan fighting the Mecha-Kong look a like and the Toho nods haha. If only the film was more like this series I think Godzilla 98 would have been far more well received
Good video on an underrated series and top tier music choices. Symphony of the Night is always great to hear randomly.
This is my favourite Godzilla show
my favorite Godzilla show is singular point.
Both singular point and godzilla the series is my favorite
The part 1 ending of monster wars reminds me of the part when in KOTM a Ghidorah emits his alpha call
25:52, you should aslo mention that in the same episode, you can see godzilla following Nick through the water, its a fun detail that's shown sometimes, explaining how he always pulls up. Makes you wonder what he's doing until he senses Nck is in danger
Awesome. After this I hope you talk about the KONG show that ran around the same time.
I wish they did a crossover.
If only they did kong show in the same style as godzilla the series.
36:53 love the use of the sonic adventure 2 music here, especially this track because it’s the same song used during the “faker” scene
Haven’t watched part 2 yet but on an animation/tv level I’m impressed that when watching recordings/using Nigel’s mini-bots the feed is pov and not what we as viewers of the show are seeing
I see Godzilla: The Series being talked about, I click on and favorite it without thinking.
Great review and I liked how you also reviewed Niegel's deaths. I'm looking forward to the season 2 review.
I’ve seen that series last year it was awesome and I still watch it because it reminds me of memories
crustacous rex has been one of my favourite kaiju since I was a kid , I loved this show
Winter is actually a beard twirling villain
I like how you used Radical Highway’s music from SA2 for the episode about the chameleon creature. Similar to Sonic being framed by Shadow and being pursued by the military.
Ever notice how that snake kaiju resembles the one in Godzilla Vs Kong?
Sweet your doing the animated series. This is fantastic
Another fun trivia is alot of the new monsters are stand ins for Toho classics.. such as Quetzacoatl being atleast a happy coincidence of similarities to Rodan.. especially the Final Wars and beyond depictions
This series is so under rated
I wonder if syfy saw the tornado shrew episode and that why Ian was in sharknado
this is still a show i come back to every now and then, its just renewing my love for this giant lizard all the time
one thing i still dont get is how zilla went from lil bebe who just got out of the shell to giant reptile in a span of a few days (probably)
Like how there is ape escape music playing in the background at one point lol good video
I like how they made the squid eater or whatever it was called look like skull crawler by the way he stands
This was awesome. Can't wait for episode 2!
Why did I not know how much I wanted to know about this show in this level of detail?
I feel like 4:49 straight up predicted the skull crawlers, I know it's coincidental but damn
Was it just me or were the microbes in the Trash eatting goo monster, very similar to the parasitic lice from Cloverfield....
good review so far! i love this series simply because it has everything the 1998 godzilla movie could of been, but never came to be.
"Godzilla's outbursts were caused by a minor chemical imbalance"
They got Godzilla on some Xanax, gave him some monster therapy, and he's fine now guys
27:07 "IT'S NOT A PHASE, DAD!"
It took a year but you got a laugh out of someone.
20:13 well i like Godzilla underwater fights because they show Godzilla at his best since he’s in his element, water. For instance the underwater fight between Godzilla and battra in the hesi Godzilla and mothra.
20:50 20:55 RIP Pumba
Mosasaur.
That blob monster could have been a Hedorah inspiration
I think you should’ve reviewed the Monster War Trilogy for last since that’s the order chronologically and that’s the order the DVD has it in.
Nigel dying is like kenny dying in South Park because it’s a running gag of a character constantly dying
It’s literally a reference to Kenny.
Love the choices of background music
18:58
Fun Fact: Cryptoclidus was a real animal, a marine reptile belonging to the plesiosaur family! Note they are not dinosaurs, and are more closely related to modern sea turtles!
Mosasaurus also is not a water dinosaur, it’s actually a squamate, in the same group with lizards and snakes!
I love this series ! All the monsters are great ! Thank you for your video :D
I heard those 3 Poachers from the Episode Cat and Mouse where a reference to King of the Hill.
I love how this show is like a reboot of the hanna barbera godzilla cartoon but much better
Hey Paper Finz! Is it possible the creature from "Juggernaut" is a reference to the monster in the unmade movie; Godizlla vs Berserk?
GTS Drinking Game: Take a shot every time Nick says a word three times consecutively
Fil Barlow and his artist wife Helen Maier have worked on so many classic cartons i grew up on like Tutenstein and are really lovely people
"Mexican military? Bio-weapon? Hahahahaha! 🤣"
My reaction, being a mexican
The Crackler' s design kind of reminds me of a mix between the alien Ubermorph and the alien Necromorph from Dead Space 2 and 3.
the way you said " 'living plants' " made me laugh
The general also has his actor back to voice him too, Kevin Dunn.
