I had a layover in Madrid, over night, going from Barcelona to Medellín. 23 hours, I think I slept like 2, went jamming Ukulele, ate like a king, had a blast. Great city.

It was great. I loved it & can't wait to go back . I was in Seville for 5 weeks. Also visited Granada & Cordoba, & spent 4 days in Madrid. Beautiful country. As a history major there is so much for me to see.

Madrid is beautiful easy to walk and navigate city....and the best capital in Europe because all the high points are so easily accessible and acheap subway,or cab ride. A good first day orientation is to get on a HopOn Hop Off bus tour top level near Plaza del Sol and ride the circuit so you,can orient yourself to the location of the,Palace, El Retiro, Atocha train station, and the Prado.....

I was deeply impressed by the Valley of the Fallen. Unique architecture and atmosphere that really speaks to you; it's defiant, bold, fusing history and modernity without surrendering to the latter. Not a lot of similar areas around Europe, unfortunately.
Not similar areas around Europe fortunately, it was dedicated to the fallen of the fascist army, and built by prisoners of war. In my opinion either they convert it to a proper war memorial, or if it is not possible they should blow it up.

Madrid is not London or Paris, but has a gem that no city has: the Prado Museum. Rick is right 20:30. This museum shows the highest concentration of masterpieces in the world, and exposes only a small part of its paintings
At the time, they were aged 17, 20, and 22. They loved the Prado as well but they loved to party also! In Madrid they could do both. Also, I recommend renting an apartment rather than staying at a hotel. Much more reasonably priced. Friendly Rentals is a good company and I recommend them.
David Tangman I'm not too far away from that young adult age haha! But I don't party much, mainly museums, castles and palaces. I agree that you can do both in Madrid. I was deeply impressed by the Valley of the Fallen. Unique architecture and atmosphere that really speaks to you; it's defiant, bold, fusing history and modernity without surrendering to the latter. Not a lot of similar areas around Europe, unfortunately.
Not similar areas around Europe fortunately, it was dedicated to the fallen of the fascist army, and built by prisoners of war. In my opinion either they convert it to a proper war memorial, or if it is not possible they should blow it up.
@@jorgemoyano1728 The far-left POWs got away very lightly, compared to what would be done to them elsewhere for doing what they did. They would have instigated total genocidal anti-church terror like in Russia or in the failed German or Hungarian revolutions in the late 1910s/1920s.

I also did the day trip to San Lorenzo El Escorial, and I would actually recommend getting an Airbnb there and spending a night. It's a nice change from the hecticness of Madrid, you don't have to rush at the monastery palace, and you'll even get a better price

Madrid is not London or Paris, but has a gem that no city has: the Prado Museum. Rick is right 20:30. This museum shows the highest concentration of masterpieces in the world, and exposes only a small part of its paintings

How old are there? Were they bored at the Prado quickly? I have a one year old and I would like to return to the museum soon!
At the time, they were aged 17, 20, and 22. They loved the Prado as well but they loved to party also! In Madrid they could do both. Also, I recommend renting an apartment rather than staying at a hotel. Much more reasonably priced. Friendly Rentals is a good company and I recommend them.
David Tangman I'm not too far away from that young adult age haha! But I don't party much, mainly museums, castles and palaces. I agree that you can do both in Madrid. It's such a vibrant city filled with so much history and culture and I can't wait to go back! Thank you so much for the recommendation, my friend.
