Your video has fine content. Only thing is: you go so fast! "You can do this or this" and of you go and I'm still wondering what the options were. I would highly recommend to slow your pace just a bit, so we, the total newbies that don't even know what most jargon means, can latch on.

I was scammed by over $3000 dollars by Amazon KDP Publishing. They advertised to put the book on amazon for $799. After submitting the book, Homoexternicus, The Direction of Man, they transferred me to the promotion department and they wanted $4,500 to promote it on Amazon. We agreed to $2,700 and I paid it. The book never appeared on Amazon with them giving me different excuses. Ray Davis was the agent.

Very useful, but definitely a video to watch in stages unless you want to have your coffeemaker close to hand so you can continuously boost your caffeine with an intravenous drip attachment!.
Lots of concentration is needed. There is so much info delivered quickly, sequentially andcoherently for you to absorb 'on the go' unless you have a brain and memory the size of a planet.
I suggest you bookmark (or download) this video AND that you take notes. (Thank heavens for the 'pause' function).
Bethany covers everything in such detail that I filled 2 sides of A4 notepaper with info from her walkthroughs of e-book and paperback uploading.
She includes examples of every stage of the process.
Thanks for taking the time to do all this . . . I'm now off to wait for the caffeine to subside!

But, I don't *think* that I'll be selling outside of Amazon (yet). So, what are the pros and cons of having your own publishing company? Is that required only if one also wants to sell outside of Amazon? I also plan to narrate the Audible version of my book and (hopefully) use their Whispersync feature to sync that with the Kindle version. Do you have any experience with doing that? Thanks!

Well KDP says it “can take up to 72 hours to be approved” and if there was any issue you’d have to resubmit as well, which happened to me once years ago. So I typically publish 4ish days early and if it’s approved the same day then it’s a soft launch and I tell my ARC team to go review, but still “launch” officially on the release date.

Interesting... publishing my first book. Due to the file size, there is a large Delivery Fee. In my case, I make more per book on the 35% program with the way they calculate it (it doesn't subtract the delivery fee like the 70% option)

You can fix that by uploading a smaller file such as .epub instead of a word doc!

Hi Bethany, How do I remove the black grey background while pasting chat from gpt onto my word documents? Thank you

Thanks! This is so helpful - one thing I am confused about. If I have the ebook on pre-order, does it matter if the paperback is published and goes lives before the ebook release date? (also what if the paperback goes live earlier than the published date inside the book? Thanks!
