I’m so glad this video helped you to make a decision for what will work for you. I just pulled the trigger on the full KUIU Yukon set this fall and am very happy. Seems to be a good balance between ruggedness, dry time, pocket layout, stretch vs. how quiet it is. I think this will be my go to for the near future. Wash it half a dozen times and it will help take some of the noise out of it. Cheers!
Awesome review!!! It seems to me it all depends on where your hunting and what time of the year your hunting all plays in as well. If your spot n stalk vs sitting in a treestand vs bow vs rifle.. I loved the video!!! Makes you think more into that piece of gear befor you buy it!!
@@johnw9736 In your opinion, what would be the best option for a do it all rain jacket? From throwing it over my normal turkey setup to when i’m in the stand in November with freezing rain. The main thing that’s deterred me from really getting out there on those muggy days is most of my sitka/FL is only dwr or none at all. Thanks so much!

I will tell you that the gortex will fail before the dermazax will. I was surprised at it. Also, it's very hard to show what the failure point is on camera. I have had gortex wet out from the outside in. I haven't had dermazax do that yet.
All zippers were zipped closed, so this does NOT reflect what would be vented if the pit zips were open on the Yukon. With the pit zips open this would help with ventilation and mitigate the retention of water when perspiring. I wrote a review on the official Sitka site of the Thunderhead and my biggest concern is no pit zips and lack of pockets. I would be happy to sacrifice a few ounces if they would remedy this and make it less of a temporary rain shell and more of a dedicated softshell jacket. Thanks for the question!
lots of info there, thanks. I think, idk which way to go... sitka light rain gear, with jetstream and mtn pants... lots of $, or cabelas MTO50 set, almost 1/2 price, ok camo O2... Really like the Killik K2 pattern, be about half of the sitka gear im looking at. but the waterproof fabric is just polyester, IDK if im hot on that or not. maybe more waterproof than gortex, but heavy and not breathable right? some scenarios call for light rain gear, some for pushing threw trails, with soaked bush might as well be taking a bath, lol. just can not decide.
You hit the nail on the head. So hard to pick one for all the varying conditions out there. You almost have to have one light set to throw in the pack to throw over stuff in decent weather, and then a burlier, more dedicated set for when weather just stinks. You can get away with one set for varying conditions, but usually have to sacrifice weight or durability.
