  • review on high end rain gear. Stone Glacier M5, Kuiu Yukon, Sitka Thunderhead.
    least amount of noise goes to Sitka thunderhead. perfect gear for archery.
    Durable and access goes to Kuiu Yukon. great for heavy rain and bushwacking.
    weight savings goes to Stone Glacier M5, excellent lightweight rain gear

    Simple and straight to the point. I’m definitely considering the m5 or the kuiu

    • @island-gear-review2359
      @island-gear-review2359  Год назад

      I find the M5’s accepts DWR treatment a little better than kuiu Yukon. Maybe due to the kuiu being older and well used.
      The velcro zipper is unique, at the same time could be a weak point in long term usage.
      The arms are long for glassing, some people don’t like it when not glassing.

      Hey Dave
      I only have experience with the katana gaiters. As for the rain gear looks like a good option. Only down side to the Yukon is it’s heavy and bulky, compared to other options.
      Happy holidays

      Best to do some Research on what materials they are using and see if the design would work for you.

    Great video man! Which one you recommend of the jackets for an all-season hunting jacket, the Kuiu or M5? Which one is the noisiest? And do you feel like the M5 is more yellow in person than it "should be"? It looks a bit too yellow to me, but I dont love the grey version either.

    • @island-gear-review2359
      @island-gear-review2359  Год назад +1

      All around hunting jacket I would go with the kuiu Yukon. It’s a little loud but I like the pockets.
      The colour of the M5 is a bit off.
      As for long term review I think the M5 takes treatment of DWR a little better due to fabric.
      I have an Arc’teryx leaf alpha jacket I’m working on some content on that.
      Thanks for your time

      @@island-gear-review2359 Thanks for answering! Just sold my Arcteryx LEAF Alpha Gen 1 jacket actually, and trying to find a good replacement. Not been able to figure out what the best replacement is yet.
      I am tempted to buy a new LEAF Alpha LT, but it wont be in stock until autumn, and that is too long to wait.
      Do you have any experience with the Kuiu Yukon vs Kutana by the way?

    • @island-gear-review2359

      Arc’teryx makes good gear. I haven’t used the Kutana yet I also bought it on sale a few weeks ago.

    I’m looking to get the m5 gear, however my only experience with SG is with the Havilland pants, which are extremely long. I had to cut them and have them seamed.
    Are the M5 as long as the sitka rain pants? I have the sitka so I can use them as comparison.

    • @island-gear-review2359
      @island-gear-review2359  2 года назад +1

      I’m 5’10” inseam 30 and a large fit perfect for length. Just enough room for insulation underneath. The cut is similar to Sitka length but I find Sitka to be slim in the waist.
      As you know the arm length are long for glassing.

    Why do you prefer the Yukon gaiters to the kutana?

    • @island-gear-review2359

    • @island-gear-review2359

    Sitka sizes for models not hunters tight in arms and waist if you go by your normal size always have to go up one size

      Well if your interested a little research would help. The cheapest is the rubber rain gear. Most others are roughly same price for setup
