The Stone Glacier Grumman Puffy is another great option. Super packable and very warm. Looks great around town too.

This was very helpful to me since I was debating on which one of these jackets I was going to get before this years deer season. Looks like Kuiu is going to get the nod.

I have owned the Stone Glacier Grumman Down Jacket for two season and its been great. The Grumman packs down very small and is extremally lite. My Grumman is a 2XL and I think it weighs about 14.5 oz. During late archery season hunting for elk and mule deer in Washington and Idaho the Grumman is in my pack, I never leave camp without it. I also like the fact that its about $50 less the the Kuiu and First-Lite Down coats.
When it comes to Puffy pants I am a big fan of the Kuiu Super Down Pro Pants, I believe the are a little more durable than other Puffy Pants on the market

I bought that dang Kuiu Super Down Pro jacket in Valo. It is freaking amazing. Feather light, ultra warm, packs super small. I too take it everywhere with me. It was suggested to me by a Navy Seal hunter buddy of mine in the midwest and it's my fav piece of gear now. When friends come over I demo it for them just so they can go broke like me buying hi tech ultralight gear too! LOL. You will not go wrong with this "investment" in comfort and perhaps even survival. Not kidding.

Actually, was talking to GoHunt peeps on something I ordered and I mentioned the sale..and for the first time ever the Super Down Pro was on sale..SALE..25% off...and said "as soon as I'm of the phone Im ordering it!" That thing never has been on sale and now is. Good decision. Lemme know how you like it!

All KUIU down is DWR treated with the very advanced TORAY DWR (Durable Water Repellent) that absolutely will keep the down MUCH drier than untreated down. I like all KUIU products BUT you must order at least one size larger in outer wear as KUIU sells "slim" cut clothing.

I just did a gear test comparison with the Kuiu Super Down Pro vs the Under Armor Storm. Couple days ago in montana at my place we hit 45 below zero and for a couple days we had good cold weather to test in. Actually did the chores in -45 in the Kuiu. Meaning filling a sled and pulling a sled feeding horses and worked clearing snow. The Under Armor Storm is no slouch, but the Kuiu Super Down Pro just outinconvenient in extreme cold. You will not get to your side pockets with mittens on in extreme cold.

I went with the first lite brooks down sweater. Usually only put it on when I stop for a while to glass. I’m a big fan of the mid weight waffle tops from Sitka, firstlite, stone glacier.

What jacket has a windproof layer ??? Wind in the mountains rips thru anything without it.
Lofting is what keeps your heat in... if it's compressed - it's not retaining heat.....
What's the difference between those and what you get for 1/2 that cost with Cabela's premium down, Marmot, North face, Patagonia, Eddie Bauer - the stuff that backpackers are using with all the same features ???
Are they cut different for hunters ??? That would be nice. Everything seems to be made with arms in a downward position

I have the Black Ovis Anchor Point down pants and jacket 800 fill.
Jacket is only 12 oz and comes in at $185 pants weigh the same and are $150. This will remain my choice for the back country as I haven’t found anything that will give me that packability, value and warmth to weight ratio.
The Kuiu will be my camp jacket.

I owned the first version of the super down hoodie by kuiu and i was totally amazed!!! I have used lots of down over the years and kuiu's down is top quality!! I used my jacket with only a t-shirt underneath in 10 degree weather and was hot. Blocks the wind and packs down super small. ally wanted to buy the element hooded jacket but it sells out before i can get my hands on one and now i don't even see them on their website.? Kinda wanted synthetic insulation this time but.. As for firstlite i love their gear aswell, just bought the belt and love it! Been thinking about buying their brooks down sweater. I also like their uncompadre jackets. Nice review guys!!

    Gday guys from Australia 🇦🇺
Great review on the jackets 🧥 but if it’s only 368 grams difference. I’d be taking the Chamberlin every day. Maybe look at your at your sleep system or picking less food. I’ve ended up buy a quilt saving over 1000grams over my old sleeping bag.

Stone glacier and the black Ovis puffy jackets maybe be a good comparison. Kuiu all they way for me. I used a rain shell an kuiu super down ultra. I find to be the best for all season mixed with the mtn ops battleground hoodie.

GOAT is Sitka Kelvin down hoody. Makes those two jackets look like weaklings. Fabric is tougher, hood is better and more durable and water resistant, great features. I've duck hunted, elk hunted and dear hunted in it.

Awesome video guys. I currently own and use a kifaru lost park parka, love it and it’s durable but pack size and weight can be an issue. Been looking into the kuiu super down for this coming year of backpack trips and also a 6 day New Zealand back country hunt and I think the reduced pack size might swing me. Have you got any images or videos of it packed up?
