Keep in mind that the jackets are set up for a layering system. Read the description to check if it’s meant for Mid Layer or Outer Layer. Sizes for the Outer Layer (hence the cuff design on the Kenai, Elements to fit over mid layers) run a little bigger so if you want a snug fit, order a size smaller. Vice Versa for the Mid Layers. Just from my experience.

Great vid. Two points for clarity.
    1. The Axis jacket you’re reviewing is the Thermal Hybrid. The initial version is just the Hybrid (minus thermal nomenclature).
    2. The panels in the Axis are not for abrasion resistance. They may additionally serve that purpose but they are strategically placed waterproof panels. Left out of the entire jacket for breathability. Hence the name hybrid on both jackets.
    Keep up with the videos.

Glad to know I’m not the only person madly in love with my super down pro…as for the washing, the key is to use the grangers down wash and wash it alone or with other KUIU down products…make sure to have 3-5 of those little agitator balls that come in the down wash kit and use them in the dryer…make sure the jacket is 100% dry so the down doesn’t clump…once it clumps and air dries it’s going to be hard to salvage…just dry it in medium heat over and over until if feels dry and it’s loft goes back to 100% when you throw it on….I’ve washed mine 2-3 times now and it’s perfect every time…takes some time to dry it slowly and thoroughly but 100% worth it

Gear tested some of the jackets after watching the video 10 months ago. Gotta agree with you, the super down pro is the bomb. My son has one also and it rocks for him. But the Kenai is hands down my favorite. Great warmth to weight ratio, great pockets and I use the drop pockets for my spare gloves so I can rotate warm gloves out. It's a true performance piece for up and down layering and the pit zips make it even better. My son has one now too. It's always with him. Great Review

The Rubicon jacket has become my go to jacket in Michigan. If it’s below freezing, I can wear the Peloton 97 under it and I’m warm without feeling all bundled up. Great for getting out and about. I don’t hunt (not opposed to it, it’s just something I don’t enjoy); I started trying KUIU’s products for thru-hiking, and have become hooked. Because of that, I’m looking for lightweight layers that are highly packable, without making me feel bulky.
I’m 5’8” 190# right now. I purchased everything in Large. So far, things have been right at the Large size limit. Everything layers very well.

@@brianbishop3018 I hear you, that’s awesome. I don’t even want to admit the amount of money I’ve spent on my Kuiu gear. I’m just kinda looking for something to bridge the gap where in early season I use it as an outer layer but the late season it works well for a mid layer. For context I use the merino long sleeve base, a t shirt, then I have the guide jacket. I also have the ultra pro down jacket that I pull when stationary but usually it’s just packed as an emergency jacket.

I love the Super Down Pro. I love the weight, the warmth, and the feel/comfort. Having said that.... it is probably the loudest jacket I've ever owned. When wearing the hood, any kind of movement or turning of the head sounds like someone is crumbling a plastic bag in your ear. If you're swinging your arms while walking, a buck would hear you a mile away (scratchy and loud). I love the jacket, and I love KUIU products, but somebody has to say it!!! I own the Guide jacket, and it’s a durable outer layer shell, but it is Not warm, at all. The main issue I have is it does NOT block the wind!! An insulating layer must be used under it if the temps drop below 50°. The Peloton 240 is warmer and blocks the wind way better.
Another item worth checking out is the Strong Fleece 210.
I say send your wife’s jacket back to Kuiu. For as much as all these high-end camos cost, these companies need to take care of their customer’s!!

Seems a lot of people don't read or know how layering words. The complaints about a snug fit? Their website flat out says it's an athletic cut, ie form fitting. If you have a little bit of a gut, it's going to be tight on you. If you're more muscular/bulky than usual, it's going to be tight. If it says athletic cut, order a size up.

Sure it’s great as a outer jacket from brush/ branches etc but for being called a “jacket /outer layer” in my opinion is garbage. I wear a jacket for some type of warm from cutting some kind of wind in cooler weather with layers under. This did not whatsoever in fact almost felt colder. Tried the axis pants for them to feel the same plus the fit sucked. Love love the patterns but o can’t try to spend the money hoping for a true what they say product. I truly tried and still hopeful hence why I still watch reviews but . Guess what I’m saying long winded is guide sucked for me. It’s for sell if anyone wants it lol

Personally, living in Europe, i can tell you Kuiu isnt so great at all. The sizes are differert, some items you may be ok with XL on other items its just too big. The fabric they use is all cheap synthetic material, not comfortable. If you want to return gear and trade a size up or less, you have to pay the return shipment for a money back. So for the item u needed you pay 3 times shipment. The alternatives for decent hunting gear in Europe ( Harkila, Seeland, Deerhunter ) offer a much better quality for their money. And if you want a US brand you should consider Sitka.

They do not send a return label at all. You have to send it back and then pay for a whole new one. I’ve sent several items back and always have to wait for refund and then re order again

None people that buy Gucci hunting clothes because internet hunters get paid to wear it. They think they'll be great hunters if they spend 200.00 on a pair of pants. How ignorant can people be.

Being comfortable is in my opinion the most important part. If your uncomfortable you won't be focused, and end up walking out early. If you can only set for two or three hours because your too cold or got wet it really ruins your hunt.
