I own the super down pro. My thought is if I'm cold, I wanted a warmer jacket instead of a less warm jacket. It is always in my pack, even in the summer time. I have been cold in the summer in the mountains and knowing my down coat is there always to keep me warm is a good feeling.
can we get updated layering vids from yall?
I always pack a puffy when hunting. Ive been looking into the stone glacier Grumman down puffy to replace my firstlite one.

I bought the Kuiu LT and then I bought a similar down jacket from Eddie Bauer because EB was having a great sale. I like my Kuiu, but the EB one is a better buy and it's tougher. It is also a few ounces heavier, but it's nominal. Again, I like the Kuiu, but I've been wearing the EB one for four years while doing outside railroad stuff and I'm going back to EB when I need a new light weight down jacket. I picked up the super down ultra when it was in the outlet and it kept me almost too warm with a t shirt when it was 22 degrees. It’s my first real down puffy so I’m impressed
For most people in the west I think the super down pro is the perfect down jacket…I had the ultra as well but it only fit in a small amount of scenarios I hunted so I rarely bring it with anymore…the super down pro might be my favorite piece of outdoor clothing of all time…I’ve worn it over a T shirt in single digit weather and been perfectly warm…add a good base layer and wool mid layer and now it’s easily a sub zero jacket
I have a super down pro and love it. The static electricity though that jacket put off is insane. Also have the lighter one, love it too but the arms are about 3” too long.

Have you layered the LT under an Axis, Guide or Storm Shell jacket?
if the fill power is the same the fill weight is what will (mostly) tell you how they compare warmth wise. The LT has half the fill weight.
Already have a lightweight puffy in a solid. Debating on a camo jacket either SDP or buying the Kenai while it’s on sale today as it seems more versatile for hiking in cold weather. Thoughts on the warmth of of Kenai compared to either of those 2 down jackets?

@@PNWild thanks. But i wanted a layering system for those conditions. Burner parka would be 1 piece which i could only use in extreme cold weather. Do you think its possible to layer with kuiu for those conditions ?
