    That's not just a rain coat. It's the best durable 100% rain and water proof jacket. They have other options for rain coats but as you go down, you loose water proofness. If you get the cheapest or the packable option, it's good for a while and will dry out, that Yukon won't ever leak

    Great info! Please lower the music or remove it you don’t need it at all. Price aside, Kuiu Yukon does is it breathable? How about the muffs does it let water in? Thanks

    Great review, I own the guide jacket and am currently looking for the next level up as far as water/wind proof goes so this video is perfect.
    I’ll say that a warm layer under my guide jacket and kuiu packable rain jacket over it is great when the weather turns, just pop the rain jacket out of my pack and boom, wind and water protection.
    Sure would like to see someone build a rain jacket that had a soft quiet face material. Happy hunting and be safe.

    Your video is why, at 5' 10" and 190 lbs., I ordered an XL for my Yukon rain parks. I got the VALO camo pattern for hunting in the mountain west.

      I loved the Verde, but the valo is more realistic during fall in Alaska I feel.

      Aaaarrrggghh! I had to send the YUKON size XL back and get 2XL in order to fit my light down jacket under it COMFORTABLY with no restrictions. I hunt in Nevada, Utah and Idaho so the browns of the VALO pattern work best there.

    The Kuiu products are excellent all around but they need to realize not all of us are athletic in build. I am 5'11", 215 lbs. and usually use an XL. for tops, and waist 38 for pants. With Kuiu I use XXL and 40 waist. That is fine but their sleeve length is too long and the pant legs always require hemming. So, add $20 per pant for a tailor to fix the pant length and another $15 to fix the overly long sleeves and now the items are really expensive. Kuiu, please reconsider your sizing standards.

      See I have issues in other areas. I'm 6'4 300lbs, have a 52in chest and my normal pants would be 38, BUT...I carry a weapon so it takes it to a 40, even if it didn't I have to get a 40 because my legs are too big so the 38 fits the waste and but my legs and crotch look like I'm in an 80s music video. 🤦‍♂️. So even though a 2x says it fits, I have to get a 3x because my neck is too tight, shoulders too wide, etc. Kryptek is similar I fit but I have the Cadog in 2x and it fits great. I was hiking last Decemberish in the mountains of PA and I had a Walmart thin thermal then a t shirt. As I went up I had the pit zips open and front unzipped halfway. It was 28 to 30 F. I went up 2 miles, then as I started back down, I began to get a chill. Closed up zips for a bit, then got out my lycose 2 and put it on under the cadog and was fine. I wouldn't have wanted to sit long or spend the night in it for sure. I'd say 32F is about the max for that coat sitting. They have another I like that's very similar but has like 40grs of insulation in on top of the fleece. I'd think 20 would be the breaking point of that one, but it is extremely quiet.

      Try first lite. I have the exact opposite problem with first lite... everything is too short and wide on me. Thwts why I'm switching to kuiu. If kuiu changes to that fit, nothing will fit me! Haha

      i remember watching a Q&A with Jason before he passed, someone asked him this question and his response was something along the lines of "well, why don't you guys take care of your body and get in shape?".
      obviously not a simple answer, especially without ruffling feathers. some people are built huskier, but i do agree with the philosophy of outdoorsmen being in shape. I mean, an animal thats been surviving in the wild shouldn't have it's life taken by someone who cant walk 8 miles up a hill.

    • @es2056
      @es2056 5 месяцев назад

      @@CtrolokDoncov I have been working out my entire life and today I visit the gym 2-3 times a week and also play golf twice a week. I am in my mid-sixties and consider myself in good shape for my age, I can easily hike 6-7 miles. Some people are not built with proportional limbs compared to their torso. That is my problem. And besides I speak from experience I was in the men's clothing business for many years. and athletic build clothing is not a big seller. People are just not built that way, only rarely.

    • @CtrolokDoncov
      @CtrolokDoncov 5 месяцев назад

      @@es2056 Disagree with the notion that people rarely have body types factors they cant influence to fit the athletic build. Go to a walmart, sure you'll find the majority of people wont. Go to a gym, whether its climbing, wrestling, free weights, whatevery, you'll find the majority of the people will fit that build or can. Also looking at different parts of the country. Theres towns and cities that are significantly more fit and more obese. Kuiu's clothing doesn't exlude people that have body fat of a normal person, they do exlude people with propoprtions that are obese though.

      @jasonhart1743 Yukon for me! Man great review of both jackets. And you told me exactly what I needed to know about the Yukon. And the noise is unfortunate but it won't matter in the rain for my hunts. Thank you before I drop $379!

    Yukon is more expensive because it’s 100% waterproof-has membrane. Guide isn’t 100%. Don’t mind the price when it keeps you 100% dry-especially when you’re stalking big game.
